in san carlos. tonight an unprecedented crowd packed city hall to duke it out over a possible new gun shop. good evening. i'm dan ashley. >> and i'm dion lim in for ama daetz. that gun store was set to open this month until the community found out. >> yeah, it's located on industrial road just blocks from redwood high school and the san carlos library. >> lilian kim joins us from city hall with late-breaking developments. lilli lili lilian? >> reporter: a huge setback for the gun store. the council just approved a moratorium on any new gun. which means turner's outdoorsman won't be opening any time soon. the prospect of a second gun store has galvanized the community. the crowd spilled out of council chambers. they also packed the overflow rooms. they say much sat stake. >> what kind of environment do we want, do people want the raise their children in. do they want the raise it in an environment where it's just as

easy to go buy a gun store as a disney movie? >> the issue came to light when the community got wind of plans to turn this into a turner's outdoors man, a retail chain that sells guns, ammo, hunting and fishing equipment. san carlos city hall received hundreds of e-mails in opposition. the city council is now considering a moratorium on gun stores. >> to me, that's a classic case of where you say stop the music. we have to decide as a community what we want to do. >> representatives of turner's outdoorsman say a moratorium would be unfair. they have already invested $125,000 into the location. plus they say there is nothing unsafe about their stores. >> i personally feel safer taking my children into our stores than i would going to an atm or a convenience store or a gas station. our stores are not unsafe to be in. >> but for many san carlos residents, the recent mass shootings are very much on their minds. >> what happened in las vegas and texas can happen in san

cambrian park, willow glen. winchester boulevard seeing wet road waist. morgan hill to san martin tin, gilroy to santa teresa boulevard. we're also tracking very spotty light returns around san bruno, millbrae, as you'll notice right near sfo. we are tracking a stronger storm. this one is a level 2, the first level 2 of the season. and that is going to be a moderate strength storm. so what we're watching is an area of low pressure dropping out of the gulf of mexico. a steady stream of moisture copping or way. and that is going to mean potential problems for parts of the bay area. i'll detail that out. the timeline of when that storm hits and what it will bring, coming up. >> the upcoming rain raises the risk of more evacuations in the burned areas. drone view 7 shows what's is left of the fountainview neighborhood in santa rosa. crews there have found 20 spots with damaged plastic pipes which could cause sinkholes and

trigger mud slides. many were melted by the fire. abc 7 news was in santa rosa this morning as video technicians sent tiny cameras to check for more damage. tomorrow pg&e will face new lawsuits including san francisco mayor frank jordan. the lawsuits claim pg&e ignored safety regulations and did not properly maintain their utilities, which may have contributed to their starting the fires. pg&e has been refuting similar claims. pleasanton police are searching tonight for robbers who pepper sprayed jewelry store employees. abc 7 news was at the stoneridge mall while officers looked for clues. witnesses say nine masked thieves smashed glass cases and grabbed jewelry inside the diamond ring company. well, the parents of a 10-year-old boy injured on a water slide in dublin are suing the city, the owners of the park, and the maker of the slide. the family released these photos of the boy's injuries. he was hurt on the opening day of the wave water park in may. video from our immediate where

partners at the bay area news group show the boy getting thrown off the slide. more details will be announced at a news conference at the park tomorrow morning. yet another woman has come forward claiming alabama senate candidate roy moore assaulted her when she was a teenager. moore claims he never knew her, but she has proof they met, her yearbook. abc 7 news reporter kenneth mouton has the latest. >> roy moore digging in and responding to new sexual allegations and new calls for him to quit the race for alabama's senate seat. >> this race being just 28 days off, that this is a political maneuver and has nothing to do with reality. it's all about politics. >> "the washington post" reporting moore is accused of molesting a 14-year-old girl and dating teens while he was a district attorney nearly 40 years ago. but monday, another accuser stepped forward the say moore sexual abused her when she was minor. >> i was terrified. he was also trying to pull my shirt off.

boy, you really can hear that, right? a storm has unleashed deadly 60-mile-per-hour winds on the pacific northwest. one woman died after a tree fell on her car in south of seattle. a toddler escaped from the same vehicle with minor injuries. yet another tree fell on a home badly injuring a teenaged girl. at the storm's peak, it knocked out power to more than 358,000 people. recreational pot pop up across san jose and the city wants to make sure it's ready for legalized weed. abc 7 reporter katie marzullo. >> the owner of buddy's cannabis has been selling medical marijuana in san jose for about eight years. he is excited at the prospect of selling recreation aol pot as well. >> going from medical sales only to recreational will overnight increase sales by 30 to 40% is

my prediction. >> he is already adding extra cash registers and increasing production. the san jose city council will decide tuesday if the 16 dispensaries operating in the city can start selling and delivering recreational marijuana. it's an about-face by the council which banned recreational sales in the city just as california voters legalized them with promise 64. councilmember johnny khamis supports the change. >> i would rather have it regulated and have it not fall into the hands of minors. >> the silicon valley, the city's chamber of commerce is also in favor of recreational sales. the president and ceo wrote a letter to the council, saying the local cannabis industry generates an extra $105 million in revenue. >> get it out of the black market. bring it aboveboard. tax it. regulate. that's going to be a success for the city, for club owners, for the consumers. >> the city's approval is only the first step dispensary owners would still have to get a license from the state before they can start san jose january 1.

in san jose, katie marzullo, abc news. democrats have called for the president's son to testify about contacts with wikileaks during his father's presidential campaign. the atlantic initially broke the story. donald trump jr. confirmed much of it by tweeting the messages and his responses. now here is what wikileaks did. they pitched the president publicly supporting their efforts. they also discussed the hacking of an anti-donald trump pack and a plan to leak president trump's old tax return. it said, quote, if we publish them, it will dramatically improve the perception of our impartiality. it won't be perceived as coming from a pro-trump, pro-russian source. now trump jr.'s lawyers turned over the condolence he correspo investigators. hackers believe they found a way to beat the apple 10's face id. it uses facial recognition software. the cybersecurity firm out of vietnam released video how they pulled this off.

sfo. fog areas in the morning. sunny the rest of the day. a stronger storm arrives on wednesday there is a possibility of problems in burn areas. i want to start off first with your morning commute tomorrow. some dense fog. so watch out if you are driving. murky if you're taking the ferry across the bay. and if you're walking, yes, some areas with low visibility. temperatures low 40s to the low 50s. fog could be a problem. but by the afternoon, it's going to brighten up. temperatures in the low to mid-60s. a nice looking tuesday. you get a break. and for those of you who have been waiting for a level 2, i get that sometimes, yes, it's coming. wednesday, the first level 2 moderate storm of the season. drenching rains, strong winds. rainfall anywhere from a half an inch to 1.75 in the hills. wind gusts 40 to 50 miles per hour. storm impact scale is exclusive to abc news. one is a light storm. 5 is a severe storm. so two could cause a problem or two. a few problems i should say on wednesday. minor flooding, moderate risk of that. debris flows in the burn areas
