good morning, everyone. thanks for joining us on this sunday, november 19th. let's start with a quick look at the weather with lisa. >> a little bit more sunshine in your neighborhood, but we'll have the high cirrus clouds today and from this vantage point, wroul see we have some cloud cover. temperatures are trying to recover from the 30s and 40s of earlier. 50 in san jose. 51 in the city. 49 in mountain view and emoryville, temperatures are a little cool. mid-40s 1/2 toe and liver mor and the forecast calls for the cloud to stick around. by the afternoon, see lower 60s.

it's going to be a nice, dry day today, but some of you getting your heads wet tomorrow. the rest of you will have to wait a few days and warmer weather in between. my seven-day forecast is coming up. >> thank you. the thanksgiving travel rush is underway. many families taking a week off for the holiday are getting a head start this weekend. here's a live look at san francisco international airport. the faa says there are no delays right now. friday was the busiest travel day of the year. officials say tomorrow will be the biggest day at san jose airport. the tip company says an estimated 28.5 million people will fly during the 12-day thanksgiving holiday period. nationally, the busiest day for passengers is the sunday after thanksgiving. millions of people are hitting the roads this week. the navigation site waze says

the worse time to drive is tuesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and wednesday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. after the thanksgiving holiday, you'll find the most traffic going home on monday between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. the chp says a suspected drunk driver drove through a closed construction zone, killing his father. seriously injurying his mother in just the past week, two suspected fatal dui crashes have ripped apart families in the north bay. what happened on tuesday, the latest happened yesterday and a construction highway near 101 and san antonio creek in sonoma county. lisa has the latest. >> this is what's left of the now mangled chrysler sebring

convertible. police say the family is if lake county. the driver was a 29-year-old man. his father was in the passenger's seat and h his mother was in the backseat. no one wearing a seat belt and though these construction signs on highway 101 near san antonio creek are highly visible, the driver still ended up on a closed road. >> there's a 30-foot gap in the freeway yet to be completed. the vehicle traveled off paved portion and skently struck a bridge abutment wall. >> you can see from this video, part of the path the car took before crashing into the open gap and falling 15 feet. the 69-year-old passenger died immediately. the man's wife and son were rushed to the hospital. >> the driver was in fact driving under the influence of both alcohol and drugs and the driver has subsequently been placed under arrest. >> this is the second fatal suspected dui in less than a week in sonoma county. on tuesday on highway 12, police arrested the driver of this

pickup truck after they say he drove head on into car driven by a young mother. she and her 7-year-old daughter died. at that that scene and at today's, empty beer cans were found in the crashed cars. >> impairment being a factor. we all know impairment can affect your judgment. >> chp has upped patrols and has all available offers this holiday week. abc 7 news. happening today. family and friends of loved ones kill td or injured in traffic crashes will march in san francisco. today is the third annual royal day of rem brans for road traffic victims. the goal of the march is to call attention to those incidents. the memorial walk starts at 3:00 this afternoon at the 16th street b.a.r.t. station and ends at san francisco city hall with a vigil.

sheriffs depps are searching for someone who shot and killed a man has he tried to sell an item he posted online. it happened yesterday afternoon. the 32-year-old victim was trying to sell an electronic device to another person when she was shot. the shooter managed to escape. the identity of the victim could be released today. the police are encouraging you if you're selling an item in an online classified ad, meet the buy er at a police station or request something called a civil stand by. that means having an officer supervise that transaction. some police stations around the bay area including daily city and fremont have who's known as a a safe exchange zone. that is a special area set up specifically for doing bids with people qulou you don't know. it's monitored by cameras and with police officers nearby. san jose firefighters are confirming a third person has died from an apartment fire on

south 9th street. our media partners at the bay area news group report a 14-year-old girl who attended gunderson high school and her 21-year-old brother, a student at san jose state university, died at the scene yesterday. then their 48-year-old mother died at the hospital. her husband is in critical season. we have more on what may have caused the fire. >> i remember people screaming and glass breaking. >> jose awoke to chaos saturday morning. the upstairs unit of the armt house was on fire. >> smoke came out of the windows. there was a couple everywhere at the far end trying to get out the window. >> flames were just unbelievable. >> a family of four live nd the unit. all trapped by the noek smoak all trapped by the noek smoak and flames. >> we went to a third alarm. >> the neighbor says the family

was hard working and kind. >> i wish this could have been prevented. just really very sad right now. >> inside the apartment, there is little left. fire officials believe the intense blaze started in the kitchen. a fire extinguisher still hangs unused. >> we heard no smoke detectors. >> firefighters now investigating whether smoke detectors were working. >> whether they were or not, their task didn't get accomplished, which is for whatever reason, these poor people were not woken in time to get o out safely. >> they say the building's owners have no comment for us. the fbi and california highway patrol carried out raids targeting several locations in santa rosa yesterday afternoon. according to the santa rosa press democrat, the raids appeared to target motorcyclists gathered at the wagon wheel saloon.

several motorcycles were detained. the fbi says agentsed federal warrantses at elections and that the u.s. attorney will release more information tomorrow. closing arguments will begin tomorrow in the murder trial for the man accused of killing kate steinle. last week, a judge ruled jurors will be allowed to consider a first degree murder verdict as well as second degree murder and involuntary manslaughter. he is facing charges in the her death back in 2015. the defense calls her death a freak accident. happening now, a benefit to support former 49ers players in physical, mental or financial crisis. the golden heart 4.96 is underway at levi stadium. right now, fans are running three miles to the 49 yard line. they'll also meet alumni legends.

this morning, fremont police are asking for your help finding a michigan iing woman, that is r picture there. the 72-year-old was last seen leaving her home yesterday afternoon. she was wearing a red fleece sweatshirt with a hood. police say she has early signs of dementia. if you have seen her, please call fremont police. a holiday tradition took on special significance. thousands of community members

gathered for the fifth annual holiday lighting of sonoma plaza. it was an opportunity for community members to come together and bond after last month's devastating wildfires. organizers also hoped the lights will bripg out of towners back to sonoma county. >> when you come in july, you come in october, in december, at any time of the year, we're also welcoming. and tonight, we show that. >> 150,000 holiday lights were turned on at sonoma's historic town plaza. they are strong across eight acres and they'll be lit through the holidays. well, this is a story about selflessness, heroism and bravery. last month, we told you about napa men who made fire lines with bulldozers the keep the wildfire from spreading to the hidden hills community. we have more on how that neighborhood said thank you to those men this weekend. >> and the strength and the

she hopes more people who were forced out of their homes have a new place to stay. >> a lot of the people that have come today haven't found homes yet. so they're just trying to grab small things. blanket, a pillow the that might help them out. and maybe a room they're renting. >> an honor system was in place trusting those who took items were fire survivors. happening today, the san francisco symphony will perform a benefit concert for north bay wildfire victims. the concert is sold out tonight. is symphony will perform music and all proceeds will be donated to the north bay fire relief fund and sonoma county resilience fund. a institution has kicked off its annual turkey curb side donation drive. abc news was outside st. anthony's where you could drop

off a turkey, ham or gently used cloeting. they still need more. st. anthony's expects to serve about 3500 dinners on thap thanksgiving. >> it's very inspiring to work here and to see the generosity of the city come here to help the brothers and sisters who are less fortunate. >> you can drop off a donation today from 9:00 until 3:00. that means you can go right now or go between 9:00 and 4:00 tomorrow through wednesday or from 9:00 until 1:00 on thanksgiving day. it's on golden gate avenue. the second harvest food bank of santa clara needs thousands more turkeys to help families this thanksgiving. they've got a goal of 24,000 tur can kis! each month, we feed about 257,000 people. and today is a big part of that, especially for the holiday.

>> second harvest center in san jose and san carlos are closed today, but you can donate turkeys tomorrow between 8:00 and 6 f:00. the bay area's largest holiday tree is now in place. this video from pike and company shows the tree arrive iing in s francisco yesterday. it's an 80 foot tall shasta fir from mt. shasta. it will be covered in 196,000 lights. the lighting ceremony is set for wednesday, 29th. it's also a fund-raiser. the proceeds will go to the all-stars helping kids fire zone relief project to help north bay communities rebuild after the wildfires. sunday morning with cloud cover out there. live doppler 7, still chilly temperatures and we'll widen the perspective. we have colludes from the west. a weak weather system to the

north bb dropping south bringing just a little bit of rain out there. here's our east bay hills camera. you can see haze out there. 51? san francisco. it's 50 in oakland as well as san jose. 45 in gilroy. half moon bay, up to 54 degrees. from the golden gate bridge, more blue skies, but high clouds throughout the afternoon. 43, santa rosa. 46, napa and navato. 49 wii bithe delta. livermore and concord, mid and upper 40s. so san francisco today, shy of average. we have a chilly morning and the frost, but this afternoon, we'll see temperatures shy of where we should be, but it's going to be a pleasant day. rain arrives in the north bay and mist and drizzle at the coast. looks like we'll see rain come friday and saturday. we still might, but we have another forecast model that wants to bring very, very warm air back to the bay area. but some mild air is with us

today for the south bay with a few clouds around. this is how it played out in san jose earlier with the 40s and wildfi we'll go up into the mid-60s today. so should be a nice day for cupertino, sunnyvale and san jose. storm impact tomorrow is a one and for the north bay, we'll have showers and about a tenth of an inch of rain and cloudy and dry for the rest of us. the cloud cover now and we stop it at 6:00, we scattered light showers here and then they will continue through about the 9:00 here then by the afternoon, the stm falls apart. not much left to it and we'll see rainfall in the amount of anywhere from a couple of hundr hundredhts. the rest not seeing much at all. stay tuned ft. rest of the outlook for the weekend because as we get warmer day-to-day, it

looks like this ridge is going to continue to build and we may see record warmth by the end of the week, but as for today, cooler than average with partly cloudy skies. 59 in san francisco, half moon bay 63 in santa cruz and tonight, we will be milder with temperatures in the 40s with some light scattered shower, perhaps in the north bay, maybe even a few sprinkles in the east bay. you can keep track of the rain and the rising temperatures throughout the week. the accuweather 7-7 forecast, 60s today. 50s on the coast. north bay showers tomorrow. 70s for tuesday, wednesday and thursday. we might have to bump that up into friday and saturday. several models we look at and they're not agreeing on the rain or the temperatures by the end of the week. the after thanks give forecast. >> that's what keeps you busy. thank you. heaahead, it's not often yo

services sorting through damaged mail after a mail truck caught fire in menlo park on friday. the mail carrier was not hurt.

postal worker are trying to see how much of the mail that was inside that car can still be delivered. investigators say the fire was not started by any of the mail. the cause is under investigation. 52 immigrants who hail from 21 countries took the oath to become american citizens. the naturalization ceremony in san francisco drew a large crowd of family and friends and supporters. they were cheering as they were sworn in. the group included employees of many bay area companies inclu including auto desk and cisco. all share the desire to become u.s. citizens. >> there's a lot of feelings. i take pride in this, so it's a really special day for me. >> remarks were delivered during the ceremony.

welcome back. we're starting this half hour with with a look at the weather with with lisa. >> good morning, everyone. no delays with sunshine. temperatures beginning to modify. and in fact, we're looking at numbers in the upper 40s to low 50s from san francisco. gilroy, still a cool 46 and from our tower camera, partly cloudy skies today, low to mid-40s for most of you north of the golden gate, but in our east bay valleys, upper 40s in concord, the timeline for the morning hours until 2:00, the clouds continue and we're in the upper 50 to near 60 and by the evening hour, dinner housework mid-50s. the temperatures drop quickly. then by 9:00, we've got cloud cover all around the bay area leading to some rain by dawn. i'll time it out for you. not going to be a lot of rain and the week ahead is going to feature some very warm air.

we'll talk about it in detail in a few minutes. now to the latest on the sexual misconduct allegations rocking the senate race in alabama. faith leaders gathering many n birmingham this weekend to condemn roy moore. whose been accused of among other thing, having sexual contact with a 14-year-old. david wright has the latest. >> reporter: alabama, plenty of religious conservatives still have faith in judge roy moore. even after at least eight women have accused him of inappropriate behavior including allegations of sexual assault. most say they were teenagers at the time. moore vehemently denies he's guilty of any such thing. >> they're not only untrue, but they have no evidence to support them. >> but a growing number of liberal preachers a iing the republican senate candidate out. more than 50 alabama pastors have now signed a letter declare
