detectives are on scene right now. they say they are following leads but offered no additional details. working on getting information as soon as we get an update from police we'll pass that along. >> the faa investigating a small plane crash that left three people hurt. that plane slammed into a home in san jose. this happened yesterday afternoon just north of the reid hill view airport. you can see the small cessna smashed into the home's garage. firefighters say it appears the plane suffered some sort of system failure. all three people inside the plane were badly hurt and taken to the hospital. witnesses say the plane was flying low and out of control. then turned sideways before it crashed. >> he missed the wire. >> he missed the wire. he missed the roof. hit the garage. >> one pilot tell us this plane is part of a club flying school.

13 people live inside of that home and somehow none of them got hurt. it is 4:30 on the dot. let's start with you, mike. >> how are you, jessica? hopefully you're doing well and had a great week. hi, everybody. same to you. let's look at live doppler 7. i zoomed down to street level in santa rosa. one of the areas that received rain and you can see right there mark west springs road up to petrified forest road near calistoga all heading to the east with the best chance of wet weather across mendocino today. temperatures will run from the mid-50s to 60 at noon to mainly mid-60s, low to mid-60s at 4:00 and we'll be back in the 50s at 7:00 with that chance of rain tapering. >> we'll keep watching.

of course we do have slow traffic out of tracy. i want to talk about some road work there. not a lot of slow traffic, certainly slowing in the southbound direction maybe just looky lous. those bright lights are pretty blinding so use caution there. westbound 580 and i am seeing that slow stretch of traffic, the car fire off to the right-hand shoulder. folks are slowing to take a look. your bay bridge toll plaza in a bit. charles manson has died. he was rushed to a hospital in bakersfield last night, and that's where he died and abc news reporter marcy gonzalez has more on the life of the cult leader. >> reporter: he was the creator of a killer crime family.

he didn't stay for the murders but left his young disciples with a message. >> if you're going to do something, leave something with you. >> reporter: they did. messages written on the walls in their victims' blood. manson and the others were arrested. the 35-year-old and three young women on trial with him constantly staged antics inside the courtroom. the jury found them all guilty and they were all sentenced to death. >> a long time ago being crazy meant something. nowadays everyone is crazy. >> reporter: manson was denied parole 12 times and eventually died in custody. marcy gonzalez, abc news, new york. now to an out-of-control fishing boat left spinning around in the pacific. this morning one man is dead, another missing after they both somehow fell overboard. this happened yesterday seven miles south of half moon bay off martin's beach. sky 7 was over the scene. the san mateo deputy says it's

unclear how the boaters fell overboards but they don't suspect foul play. ocean conditions were calm at the time. the boat is registered to an address in vallejo. safari west animal park will reopen after the north bay wildfires. flames from the tubbs fire came within a mile of the 400-acre preserve last month. they kept those flames away and the animals safe. the preserve holds more than 1,000 birds, giraffes, cheetahs and other animals. highway 121 in napa county is reopened following an accident involving a dump truck hauling away debris from the atlas fire. the road was closed more than six hours. it took a while to remove the debris because it's considered hazardous material. several members of the cleanup crew had to wear protective suits. with just over six weeks

before recreational pot becomes legal, oakland is going through applications. "the chronicle" says some is from people want to go grow cannabis indoors. 75 people want to build pods. none have been approved so far. the city has authorized eight existing dispensaries to be brick and mortar businesses. mayor ed lee doesn't want cannabis ads on muni buses, stations or shelters. according to "the examiner" the sf mta board of directors will consider a policy to ban future poll advertising on muni. the mayor asked the agency to take action. the proposal comes amid a heated city debate on how to regulate pot shops when they become legal in january. a rash of car break-ins in san leandro has police warning drivers to never leave valuables in plane sight even if the car is locked. 12 auto thefts happened last week on the west side of san

mass transit cool this morning. mild this afternoon. light breezes today. let's take a look at the difference between the north bay and the south bay. the south bay we're going to see the most sunshine. we started at 53 this morning. by noon we're at 68. we touched 70 at 2:00 and then back down to 64 by 6:00. now up in the north bay much cooler. we're going to be stuck in mainly the upper 50s to near 60. look at all those chances of rain from now all the way to 4:00. if you're heading around the state today about 68 in fresno. showers from sacramento northward into tahoe. so in tahoe a pretty quiet week. hi, sue. >> we'll look at emeryville. this is a live shot from our camera above university avenue, golden gate field heading to the mcarthur maze. seeing everybody at the limit both eastbound and westbound. of course westbound your commute direction. and this is what you funnel into. a minor delay for folks paying

crew members onboard the argentinian submarine. the u.s. navy and air force have joined the international effort to try to find the sub before it's too late. for days now rescue crews in argentina have been trying to find 44 crew members onboard an argentinian submarine missing for almost a week, and now stormy weather is holding up their efforts. the argentine navy lost contact with it on wednesday. this video taken last may shows the close quarters sailors work in. >> because of the particular type of submarine the sailors are dependent on the batteries within the submarine. every hour that goes by gives them less and less chance of surviving. >> reporter: the argentine navy says they were on a routine trip from the southern tip of the continent to home base of mar del patra. a fire may have cut off power.

at least six nations are helping in the search. the u.s. navy sending in their most sophisticated rescue equipment that operates as deep as 2,000 feet. search units have been focusing on what little information they have estimating how fast the sub may have been traveling from its starting point and also copying the same exact scheduled path in hopes of spotting the submarine. reporting live from washington, stephanie ramos, abc 7 news. thank you, stephanie. actor jeffrey tambor says he doesn't see how he can return to the amazon series "transparent "following allegations of sexual misconduct. many people took the statement to mean he's leaving the show. tambor hasn't actually confirmed that. "transparent" actress and tambor's former assistant have accused him of groping them and making unwanted sexual advances.

president trump is attacking two arizona republican lawmakers caught making critical comments about him. listen to the conversation between senator jeff flake and mesa arizona mayor giles. >> the party of ray moore and donald trump. >> we are toast. >> you're the guy, just for fun, think how much fun to point out what an idiot this guy is. >> the mayor was talking about his wish that flake would run for president. the exchange didn't sit well with the man in the oval office, though. in a tweet president trump called flake flakey and himself your favorite president. he said it was flake's political career that was toast. flake then tweeted back, no news here. i've been saying this to anyone who will listen. people in the south bay coming together to help the people of puerto rico still coping with the devastation of hurricane maria. abc 7 news was in san jose at

gorgeous. not a worry in the world until we get the chance for rain on sunday. and from the live desk only moments ago one of the nation's largest domed stadiums was imploded. nearly 5,000 pounds of explosives blasted the georgia dome in atlanta, took only 15 seconds to knock it down. the dome opened in 1992 and was home to the falcons for more than 25 years. it was the site of several other sporting event including the 1996 olympics. more than 10,000 manhours dedicated for demolition preparation. the falcons now play next door at the mercedes-benz stadium opened this past summer. advocates for walkable cities took to the streets of san francisco to honor pedestrians killed or injured by cars. abc 7 news was there as the chapter of the families for safe streets organization marched

from the 16th street b.a.r.t. station to san francisco city hall yesterday. now this event coincides with a worldwide event to call for safer streets for those traveling by foot or on a bicycle. dave chesterman lost his daughter christina in a drunk driving crash. >> it was a hit-and-run and he left and he didn't really get anything additional because he left the scene. he left her there on the side of the road, and that really is what bothers me more than anything else. >> they are urging legislation that would legalize speed enforcement cameras to slow traffic on city streets. >> trader joe's has recalled several salads. if you have any of these three salads you do want to throw them out or return them for a refund. white meat chicken salad, deli salad, and turkey cranberry apple salad. the salads could contain bits of glass or hard plastic.
