and it could come back down as far south as you're looking at there, the bay bridge from the east bay hills. 52 to 54 with scattered light rain through 7:00. from the bay bridge northward we have a chance at noon, 62 to 65. it will be mostly cloudy at 4:00. and then it's just about over. 57 to about 61 by 7:00. still pretty mild. how about the roads this morning. here's sue. >> the bay bridge behind me looks good until you get to the turn in the tunnel and then some brake lights happening there. san jose north on 280. there's 17. it gives you an idea where you're going. about an eight-minute drive so not bad at all. a live look at the san mateo bridge getting busier here but still looking at a good drive up and over the high rise into foster city for about a 14 to 15-minute drive. we do see some slowing. we'll check the altamont pass in a bit. from our live desk this

morning, one of america's most famous serial killers, charles manson, has died. manson was serving life in prison here in california. he died at a hospital in bakersfield last night at the age of 83. manson was the mastermind behind a two-day murderous rampage through southern california in 1969 that left seven people dead. he and three of his followers were convicted and sentenced to death, but the sentences were commuted to life in prison. and this morning it is unclear exactly what will happen with manson's remains. prison officials say he had no known next of kin. >> charles manson supposedly lived in this home with his early followers in the haight in san francisco in 1967 during the summer of love. the home is on cold street listed as a historical location on some maps and is a popular hot spot for tour guides. he tried to make it as a musician. manson records sell for as much as $75.

and "the new york post" tweet this had cover this morning. the headline "evil dead -- make room, satan, charles manson is finally going to hell." developing news, sky 7 showing you a very eerie scene off martin's beach. the boat just spinning around. it's an empty boat and it was spinning out of control. >> this morning one person is dead and the coast guard is working through the night to search for another missing man who has not been found. this happened seven miles south of half moon bay off martin's beach. abc 7 news reporter lilian kim has more on this developing story. >> reporter: a boat going in circles, a clear indication something was wrong. in this case it was a boston whaler, a popular fishing vessel known for being stable and sea worthy. it was spinning at a speed of 15 knots just off martin's beach in san mateo county. >> once you lose control of the helm, those are designed to circle. it's in the steering mechanism where it pulls forward, to the right or left, and it will stay

in the circle. >> reporter: the two men onboard somehow ended up in the ocean. the body of one was recovered soon after rescue crews arrived. the other is still missing, the person believed to have been operating the boat. they believe neither was wearing a life jacket. >> i am not sure if they would have survived in the situation but certainly they would have had their heads above water for long enough to have somebody have seen them. >> reporter: authorities let the boat run out of fuel. they then towed it to the harbor. they're storing it as evidence. it doesn't appear foul play was involved. >> the boat has had a preliminary lookthrough. everything looks fine, like an accident. we want to double-check to make sure. >> reporter: no word on how long they'll be searching for tran. the harbor master plans to rejoin the effort in the morning. near half moon bay, lilliian ki abc 7 news. a daly city motorcycle officer is recovering after a police chase and manhunt ended

in a crash. investigators say it started when the officers spotted two men casing parked cars yesterday afternoon. the suspects took off and the officer went after them. the chase ended on 280 in san francisco. the officer lost control of his bike. he suffered only cuts and bruises. moments later the suspect's car collided with the patrol car. no officers hurt there. police say both suspects ran from the car into an engle side neighborhood, found hiding in shane o'neill's backyard. >> they found the guys hiding between two fences between the two back yards and they arrested them. >> the identity of the two suspects has not been released. >> minnesota senator al franken will not re-sign ovsignresign. one of franken's staffers said the senator is spending thanksgiving with his family and doing a lot of reflecting but has no plans to step down.

his accuser has also said she does not want franken to step down. franken admitted his behavior, apologized for it, and is welcoming an ethics committee investigation. record mogul simmons, the "l.a. times" reports model clawson came forward saying simmons made aggressive sexual advances towards her back in the year 1991 and yanked off her clothes while director brett ratner watched. simmons issued a statement saying everything that occurred was completely consensual. ratner denies former accusations of sexual misconduct by four women. a popular ferryboat about to get an upgreat. the sonoma, one of the largest in the fleet, will undergo a $22.5 million overhaul next year. the project will include noise reduction work, the installation

the clouds thin out enough, it may brighten up. some light rain possible north of san francisco and oakland. tonight clouds linger. mild lows like this morning. the extended warmer than average and if you're heading down to l.a., i look for thanksgiving in the ninth. that's crazy. a look at over the last hour to two and you can see there was light rain that moved across santa rosa. anywhere from .0 to .06 a little bit of moisture and you can see some green dots right over san francisco possibly even as far south as pleasanton. the yellow remains around ukiah and that disappears by 4:00 and you can see by 7:00 it's gone. in fact, if you look at the rainfall totals it may get as far south as novato but it pretty much is northward. so let's take a look at our

temperatures as we head through the day. 59 to about 61 at 9:00. you can see the temperatures jump into the low to mid-60s by 2:00, even 6 9 at san jose. my accuweather seven-day forecast in the low to mid-50s but look at us. 70s away from the coast all the way through at least saturday. crazy. hi, sue. >> looks nice. here we go to a live shot, san rafael. headlights in the north direction. past the north gate mall and if your travels take from you novato into san francisco you're looking at about a 22-minute drive with smooth sailing all the way up and over the waldo grade and to the golden gate bridge. that looks clear there with four lanes for your southbound commute. why all that red traffic up and over the altamont? we had an earlier car fire fully engulfed. now you look at 1:38, ouch to get from tracy into dublin.

this trial has been going on for almost a month. the jury could get the case today. defense attorneys for jose garcia zarate says the bullet he fired hit the ground first and then ricocheted and hit the victim showing it was not deliberate but an accident. prosecutors point to the fact he threw the gun into the bay. they say he was covered his tracks. they think this is a murder case. kate steinle was shot and killed two years ago at san francisco's pier 14. her accused killer was set to be deported for the sixth time. because of sanctuary city laws he was allowed to stay and that's why this case has start add national debate over immigration. the jury will be able to consider several options, first degree or second-degree murder or involuntary manslaughter if they convict him at all. reporting live, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. we are tracking developing news out of the east bay. investigating a suspicious

>> you had them thinking were you jesus christ. how did you do that? >> just being myself. all men are jesus christ. >> reporter: abc's diane sawyer interviewed manson back in 1993. >> i never told anybody to do anything other than what they wanted to do. >> reporter: in the late 1960s manson formed a sort of commune and became obsessed with the beatles song "helter-skelter." in august of 1969 manson ordered four of his followers to go to a home in beverly hills and kill everyone inside. in all, five people died including actress sharon tate, wife of roman polanski. she was 8 1/2 months pregnant. the next day manson took his followers to leno and rosemary labianca's house. he didn't stay for the murders but left them with a message. >> if you're going to do something, leave something of you. >> reporter: they left messages on the walls in the victims' bloods. manson and the others were

arrested. the 35-year-old and three young women on trial with him constantly staged antics inside the courtroom. the jury found them all guilty and they were all sentenced to death. >> a long time ago being crazy meant something. nowadays everyone is crazy. >> reporter: manson was denied parole 12 times and eventually died in custody. marcy gonzalez, abc news, new york. the faa investigating this small plane crash that left three people hurt. it slammed in a home in san it slammed in a home in san jose. it smashed into a home's garage. it appears the plane suffered some sort of system failure. all three people inside the plane were badly hurt and taken to the hospital. witnesses say the plane was flying low and out of control and then turned sideways before it crashed. >> it was going down.

he missed the wire, he missed the roof. he started diving down more and hit the garage. >> this is part of a club at a flying school. 13 people live inside of the home. none of them got hurt. one man is dead and another missing after they fell overboard their boat off martin's beach. people knew something was wrong when they found that fishing boat, as you can see here, spinning yesterday. they say it was likely an accident and not foul play. they believe ocean conditions were calm at the time so unclear how the fishermen fell how the fishermen fell overboard. flames from the tubbs fire came within about a mile of the 400-acre preserve last month.

park workers kept the flames away and the animal safe. the park is set to conduct its first tour at 9:00 this morning. an accident involving a dump truck hauling away debris from the atlas fire. the overturned truck closed the highway for more than six hours. it did take a while to remove the debris because it's considered hazardous material. several members had to wear productionive suits. >> just over six weeks until recreational pot becomes legal. oakland going for 255 applications of people wanting to get in on this. 78 of the applications are from people wanting to grow cannabis indoors. 55 want to deliver pot. none have been approved so far. eight existing dispensaries to operate as brick and mortar

marijuana businesses. mayor ed lee doesn't want ads on muni buses, stations or shelters. a new policy tomorrow to ban future cannabis advertising on muni. the mayor asked the agency to take this action. regulating pot in the city when it becomes legal on january 1st. a rash of car break-ins in san leandro has police warning drivers never to leave valuables in plain sight. 12 auto thefts in the west side of san leandro and in every single incident they grabbed items out of parked cars. a late model, dark-colored honda civic with paper plates that read victory. you are going to notice a difference when you step outside.

argentina's navy is right now intensifying aerial searches on the country's atlantic coast and they're looking for a 44 crew members onboard an older electric submarine missing since last wednesday. stormy weather is holding up their efforts, though. the submarine was on a routine trip from a base to its home base. one theory is a fire may have knocked out power on the sub cutting off its communications system. they don't know exactly what happened. right now at least six different nations are helping in the search. the u.s. navy is sending its most sophisticated rescue equipment that operates as deep as 2,000 feet. >> actor jeffrey tambor says he doesn't see how can he return to "transparent" following allegations of sexual harassment. he referenced what he calls a politicized atmosphere on the show's set. many people took a statement to mean he is leaving the show. tambor hasn't actually confirmed

north bay this morning. through 7:00 it looks pretty quiet. all the way up until 9:00 when you could see lining up offshore is the big push of some light to even moderate yellow showers there all the way down to possibly the san mateo bridge by noon and then you can see by 4:00 it starts to lift into the central valley and into the high country and during the evening commute nothing to worry about. look at the rainfall totals if we start at 7:00 and 9:00, there you go. the same areas possibly down to novato, a little wet. as we head to the noon hour, measurable rain. remember those scattered showers we saw there. looks like they missed the reporting stations or are so light they may not be measurable. a look at today's high temperatures. they're going to be in the 60-degree range to about 70 in the south bay. tonight even with less cloud cover, about 49 to 54 degrees. here's my accuweather seven-day forecast. the best chance of rain in the north bay and that makes it a one, light on our storm impact
