live are you live, this is abc 7 news. >> and new this morning, charlie rose fired by cbs. that's after at least eight women come forward to accuse the news anchor of sexual misconduct. thanks for joining us today. aisle reggie aqui. after we heard of the alleged groping and nudity and harassing phone calls, charlie rose is out. president of cbs news saying there's nothing more important than ensuring a safe and professional workplace. abc news reporter elizabeth hurr has new reaction from colleagues and friends of the veteran journalist. >> reporter: news anchor charlie rose flow fired by cbs.

cbs this morning co-host not mincing words. >> this has to end. this behavior is wrong, period. >> reporter: the reaction coming after stunning and disturbinging aization a accusations of sexual assault lodged against the tv icon. >> what do you say when someone you deeply care about has done something that is so horrible? that said, charlie does not get a pass here. >> reporter: eight women opening up to the "washington post" claiming rose allegedly made unwanted sexual advances toward them. one of his former employees telling the paper he was a sexual predator and i was his victim. >> one person i spoke to who worked for him in the 19930s recalled him coming out of the shower naked. confided in one person. the next day the male producer came up to her laughing and said, oh, i heard you got the shower trick. >> reporter: another accuser a former assistant telling the paper there were at least a

dozen instances where rose walked nude in front of her while she worked in one of his new york city homes. she said he would repeatedly call her late at night to describe his fantasies of her swimming naked. rose is responding in a statement saying "it is essential these women flow i hear them and deeply apologize for my inappropriate behavior. i have behaved insensitively at times and accept responsibility for that. though i do not believe t of these allegation are accurate, i always felt i was pursuing shared feelings even though now i realize i was mistak mistaken. the "washington post" now says since their initial reporting, more women have reached out to them with claims against rose. elizabeth hurr, abc 7 new york. also new this morning president trump's new fcc chief wants to repeal net neutrality which more or less creates a fair playing field on the internet. this morning, chairman pi distributed his alternative plan to other fcc commissioners. in preparation for next month's

vote on that proposal. net neutrality rules created in 2015 under the obama administration. it prevents broadband providers from slowing down, blocking or charging more for delivery of particular internet content. pi says he'll release his entire proposal tomorrow. san jose university police officer punched in the face. several people are in custody following a violent incident near campus. the officer was punched around midnight. just west of the university. abc news reporter matt keller has been following that story all morning. he's live for us at the university police department. >> reporter: reggie, police are looking for witnesses to this fight. this happened just off campus. as big city dangers encroach on the university once again. police say this is a gang member. restrained and heading in an ambulance on his way to the hospital. nearby another restrained on a gurney fitted for a neck brace

and third in handcuffs and his way to jail. what happened on south third street around 12:20 this morning? san hjose state says university police sergeant and officer responded to a disturbance between a group of students and gang members near the hammer theater close to campus. when they arrived they said a gang member threw the first punch. >> one of his officers caught off guard, punched and injured by one of the suspects. that officer was transported to value sley medical center, trea and released. >> reporter: the sergeant was punched multiple time s and beaten badly. the injured sergeant has been at the university for 29 years and considered a beloved member of the campus community. police tased one of the men and detained all three suspects described as men in their early 20s from the south bay. charges including assaulting a peace officer, resisting arrest,

challenging the fight in public and gang enhancements. other two suspects charged with resisting arrest, and violating a gang order. university officials say the students walking back to campus were in a group and did the right things to stay safe. >> detach themselves from the situation and good witnesses to our police officers. >> reporter: the sergeant was scheduled to work tonight but san jose state ex. pekt expects him to be back on the job soon. a richmond police officer is recovering from injuries after a crash on interstate 80. sky 7 flew over the accident on the eastbound side of the freeway near chaarlson boulevar. oakland chp says a driver in a mercedes sideswiped a motorcycle officer trying to merge into the far left lane. the officer was taken to the hospital. he is expected to be okay. the driver of the mercedes is cooperating with authorities. all lanes have since been re-opened. take a look at this

overturned cement truck in marin county. the chp says the truck toppled over this morning on sir francis drake boulevard at platform bridge. it was carrying 60,000 pounds of concrete. the good news, no one was hurt. at last check the concrete truck lad not been towed away. no word on when the road is going to reco-open. 17-year-old lawrence jansen was gunned down two weeks ago while walking with friends near olympic continuation high school. now concord police say these same respects are linked to another shooting that hurt a woman on october 13th near ellis street and clayton road. six people it all are accused of one or both of the shootings. the department posted o photo on its facebook page of one of the arrests. both the shootings are being investigated as gang related. happenening now the defense continues its closing argument in the murder trial of the man

accused of killing kate steinle. steinle's parents and relatives of the defendant jose garcia zarate showed up in court yesterday as prosecutors spent 70 minutes presenting closing arguments to jurors. the prosecution said garcia zara i te 14 because it was a target-rich environment and pointed the gun at steinle and pulled the trigger. the defense claims garcia zarate found the gun and fired it by accident. be the first do be in the know when that verdict comes down and download the abc 7 news app. enable push alerts. you'll get the information as soon as we get it. happening today, muni will consider saying no to pot money. there are 130 medical marijuana ads like the ones you see here on the sides of buses. in san francisco. today muni board members are set to vote on an amendment that would ban them. >> people have been disturbed about seeing ads about cannabis related material on a public transit system like muni and

something we take very seriously and why we're posing this legislation to our board of directors to ensure we take that feedback and are making this change. >> muni bans ads for tobacco, alcohol and firearms. they don't think it's a reach too put marijuana in the same category. some insurance companies are giving north bay fire victims inaccurate information about their rights under state law. insurance commissioner dave jones says adjusters brought in from out of state are telling victims their living expense benefits expire in 12 months. it's actually 24 month. they were told they have 6 to 12 minutes to collect replacements costs of their home. in reality, that is also 24 months. finally, some were told that if they don't rebuild in the same location, they won't get the full replacement cost and that is incorrect. napa officials are updating us on fire zones.

county crews surveyed 90% of properties for hazardous waste. removed debris from 40 properties. 474 right of entry forms have been accepted and crews are given permission to go on property and remove debris. they would like 100% participation but 104 are property owners have not submitted a form. we talk a lot about air travel this time of year. the truth is the vast majority of us get to our thanksgiving meals by car. today is a day many of us are going to be traveling on highways. unless, of course, you're riding the rails. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield live for us at jack london square in oakland with that. amy? >> reporter: hi, reggie, new trend alert. i'm here at the amtrak station where i looked for ticket s for here to l.a. tomorrow. some of the trips are sold out. it makes sense because it's going to be hard to find room on the freeways. ready, set, go. the holiday rush is on.

with this afternoon set to be the busiest time on the highways. that sets travelers up to mix with commuters like gilbert short who are trying to get home from work. >> appreciabprobably going to a fr freeways all together. yeah. i'll probably end up taking the main roads and stuff like that or back records. >> reporter: aaa is predicting the number of people traveling this year will with up about 3% compared to last year because of the strong economy and labor market. most of those travelers will be driving 89% of them. we found some of those travelers are willing to do what it takes to avoid crowded freeways. >> yeah, everybody slohould be sleeping and we'll be driving. >> reporter: but some are turning to the tracks. >> this is our busiest time of the year. nationwide for amtrak. the wednesday before and the sunday after are just -- all stations, everywhere across the country.

the justice department is denying claims its lawsuit to block at&t's $85 billion takeover of time warner is politically influenced. time warner owns networks like cnn, tbs and hbo. during the campaign then-candidate trump argued against the deal. and given president trump's issues with cnn, at&t's chairman said white house influence remains a question in his mind. >> nobody should be surprised that the question keeps coming up. bottom line is that we cannot and we will not be party to any agreement that would even give the perception of compromising the 1st amendment protections of the press. >> at&t's lawyer says the move to block the deal was foolish because it posed no threat to consumers. now here's today's morning money report. a major recall from ikea after the death of an eighth child. a toddler actually right here in california. the recall is for more than 29

in the spirit of giving, south bay students are spending their day running a food drive. presentation high school in san jose this morning, students are collecting turkeys. they say it's their way to help families that cannot afford to buy everything they need to provide a traditional thanksgiving meal. >> all this goes to stay credac heart. the reason we're doing this is because this is their thanksgiving meal. so i know we're all fortunate enough to always have food for us. this is the least we can do. >> students already have 900 turkeys and they're hoping to collect more by the end of the day. that's a lot. they're taking donations until 3:00 p.m. today. again, at presentation high

weather without those benefits, if you will. still, we want to travel without those negativities. so let's be happy for a couple of days. 66 at half moon bay. richmond, vallejo, fairfield, 69. the asterisk, you bet, a record high is possible in santa rosa at 72, concord 71. and san jose, 74. also redwood city at about 73. let's take a look at your accweather 12 hour day planner here. look at this. temperatures in the mid 60s to near 70 at the coast. at noon. then we'll be around 67 to 69 at 4:00 after setting a few record highs. look how nice it's going to be during the evening hours still in the 60s at 9:00. only to mid to upper 50 and 30s0 tonight. mid 40s inland. to upper 40s. low to mid 50s elsewhere. all right. let's take a look around the state tomorrow. look at this. 90s in l.a. and palm springs. near 80 in fresno. 66 in tahoe. going to be in the 60s most of the week. average high is 48 this time of year. so just north of us, around lake

and mendocino county northward, there's a slight chance of wet weather tomorrow. we'll put a yellow there. caution. you may get some drips on you. if you're traveling anywhere else, by car, it looks great. now if you're traveling around the country, we've got seattle and portland, a little wet. down in florida, a little wet. northern and boston could be wet in the morning. then they'll clear out. right now, the only issues we have across the country, newark's got arrival delays. here's my accuweather seven-day forecast. what we're seeing is warmer weather. the apex of the high pressure will hit us tomorrow. that's why we'll be even warmer tomorrow. look at thursday. thanksgiving day almost as warm as today. we'll be shopping in h short sleeves and shirts possibly looking for sweaters and pants on friday. and then temperatures start to gradually tamerper saturday. still warmer than average. sunday into monday, a 1, light on our storm impact scale. temperatures back to average in the 60s where they should be. getting around the next several days awesome. getting back, especially into sfo, any time we have clouds and rain, could be some delays. >> okay. let's just focus on getting
