to go through. >> reporter: elissa harrington, abc 7 news. sexual harassment allegations rocking hollywood are shining a spotlight on a problem that women face all too often across america. in a quinnipiac university national poll released today, 69% of women say they have been harassed. 60% of women say it happened in the workplace. 43% of women say they've been harassed socially. some advocacy groups have reported a recent increase in claims and inquiries relating to workplace sexual harassment because of the headlines. abc 7 news reporter lisa amin gulezian has the story. >> fear of being retaliated against or blacklists has kept women from speaking out about these kinds of issues. >> reporter: these issues, sexual harassment in the workplace, are the silent secret now getting a voice. while heavy hitters like harvey weinstein and kevin spacey face accusations, women's advocacy groups have seen a surge in calls from low wage workers who

work in cleaning companies and restaurants. >> i think it's been a real eye opener for many people in the public to see how pervasive this problem really is. >> reporter: christopher dolan is an attorney and leads company sexual harassment seminars. the companies where he's seen the most problems are start-ups. >> the startup environment as we've seen at uber is sort of the wild west. and people there feel empowered to do whatever they want because of the informality of the business. >> reporter: but sexual harassment training for companies of a certain size is the law. former assemblywoman sarah reyes sponsored it and admits it's not enough. >> we need more training, not less training. we need more knowledge of what sexual harassment is. >> reporter: as for why so many women are now coming forward, some advocates say it's because they're realizing they're not alone and this is actually the first time they're publicly able to talk about it. in san francisco lisa amin

afternoon. it will resume deliberations tomorrow morning. prosecutors say jose ines garcia zarate deliberately shot steinle on san francisco's embarcadero in 2015 while the defense says he found a stolen gun that went off by accident. san francisco-based uber paid hackers $100,000 to delete personal information they stole from the company and to keep quiet about it. the hackers took names, e-mail addresses and phone numbers of more than 34578 passengers and drivers last year. there's no evidence the information was misused. the company fired its security chief this week for his role in hiegd the breach. there is a new twist tonight in the growing fight over your access to the internet that's known as net neutrality. new york's attorney general is investigating a massive case of identity fraud that he says undermined the public comment process. eric schneiderman says people used the identities of others across the country and here in california to make anti-net

neutrality comments to federal communications commission members. the chairman of the fcc wants to repeal net neutrality, which prevents an internet service provider from charging you more to access certain websites. critics say that could open the door for big internet service providers to favor their own content over others. >> newer services, smaller services, start-ups who are just kind of getting going, basically the next netflix that you haven't heard of yet, they're going to have a hard time competing in this new environment. >> the fcc has so far not agreed to help with the investigation into the identity theft that may have influenced the conversation. a vote on net neutrality is expected next month. an undocumented worker whose controversial arrest became a lightning rod for bay area immigration activists is a free man tonight. hugo mejia walked out of a corrections center in elk grove a few hours ago. his family was there to meet him. a san francisco judge granted

as you may have heard, '70s teen heartthrob david cassidy has died. the 67-year-old singer and actor had recently been admitted to the intensive care unit at a hospital in ft. lauderdale, florida. abc news reporter adrienne bankert looks back at his life and legacy. >> reporter: david cassidy, pop singer, teen idol. cassidy catapulting into national prominence in 1970 with the tv series "the partridge family." ♪ spread a little love and keep moving on ♪ starring as keith partridge, son of shirley partridge, who was played by cassidy's real-life stepmother shirley jones.

today in wine country. abc 7 news was in the carneros valley right on the border of napa and sonoma counties. one long table 625 feet was set up in a vineyard. the price was $500 a plate. much of it donated. so first responders could come. all proceeds from ticket sales will benefit wildfire recovery efforts. the person known for leaving just astronomical tips with the notation "tips for jesus" is back and identified. "the new york post" reports it is former paypal vice president jack shelby, worth an estimated $50 million. on instagram his alter ego, tips for jesus, posted a photo of a "new york post" article mentioning his latest big tip. this weekend he left a $5,000 tip after ordering just $100 in drinks at an upper west side bar. san francisco has shared in shelby's generosity over the past two years. he's left tips of

morning commute or if you are traveling out of town. temperatures right now in the 40s to the 60s. it's 60 degrees in san francisco. really mild. now, if you have travel plans around the country, really most of the country looks good. you're looking at potential problems across the pacific northwest where they'll be seeing rain and then across the southeast where they're going to have to deal with showers and thunderstorms. otherwise, you're good to go. the airports are looking great. thanksgiving day forecast also looks beautiful. here's your planner. 7:00 a.m. a chance of a few sprinkles in the north bay or a light shower. i would not change your plans because of this. it's not a game changer. lingering clouds at noon and it's mild weather for 4:00. low 60s to mid 70s. here's a live picture from our mount tamalpais camera. it's just a beautiful view as we look at san francisco. patchy, dense morning fog. we're looking at record afternoon temperatures. highs, that is, mild for thanksgiving, north bay sprinkles and light rain on saturday and sunday now. so here's a look at your morning lows. mid 40s to mid 50s. yes, chilly enough to where you need to bundle up.

and watch out for that fog, especially in the valleys. here is a look at that forecast. 5:00 a.m. the fog is around antioch, brentwood, north bay, valleys. if you are traveling across the central valley, tracy, modesto, you'll be socked in. this is the time of year you'll have to watch out for that. high clouds for the afternoon will filter the sun. but that's not going to stop us from warming up to possibly record levels again. so san jose 76 degrees. previous record was 75 set in 1924. that is likely to be a record along with gilroy. expected to hit 82 degrees. old record was 79. let's start with the south bay. 76 in san jose, 74 santa clara. morgan hill 79 degrees. on the peninsula. 73 menlo park. half moon bay really warm. 72 degrees. downtown san francisco 7307 high clouds and sun in the north bay. most of you in the low to mid 70s. 73 santa rosea. east bay the kind of weather you expect to say in late spring.
