steinle or if it was an accident. they focused on the bullet ricocheted off the ground before it hit kate steinle. they say he wasn't aiming, that it was an accident. prosecutors say they think he aimed and the fact he tossed the gun into the water, they say, show he was covering his tracks. both have been coverin the case for almost a month. the shooting happened two years ago. >> everyone who work on this case did an incredible job putting their 1,000% into it. >> reporter: steinle was walking along pier 14 when she was shot and killed. her family has been at the trial but wasn't at closing arguments. and it looks like they might not be planning to be there for the verdict. the judge originally said he would give everyone two hours' notice before reading the verdict so everyone could get here. the steinles live in the east bay. he now says he's change that go

intensifying. trump complained that lavar ball, father of liangelo ball, hasn't given him credit for the release of his son and two other players from china after a shoplifting incident. he said, lavar, you could have spent time with your son in china but no nba contract to support you. remember, lavar, shoplifting is not a little thing. it's a big deal in china. he went on to say, quote, ungrateful fool. the a's plans for building a new baseball stadium near laney college is being strongly opposed by groups affiliated with that college. librarians, nurses, and counselors at the district campuses including laney voted to oppose the a's proposal. they also voted to oppose the

will be less likely to target pharmacies if they know there will be a delay. some pharmacists, however, say thieves will not believe there is a delay and may think that the pharmacist can open the safe if properly motivated putting them at greater risk. the future is now. controlling robots remotely is a powerful concept but now it looks like toyota is bringing us pretty chess to that humanoid connection. so this robot mimics the movements of its operator called the thr-3 able to map the operator's movements allowing its entire body to be controlled instinctively. the operator can see what the robot is seeing using a head-mounted virtual reality display. toyota claims the robot could be used in homes, hospitals, disaster zones, and even outer space. new details in the relationship of one of the most watched couples on the planet. according to abc news meghan markle has moved in to prince harry's two-bedroom home at nottingham cottage located

clouds, also dry. our next chance of rain. it's only for the north bay. 70 to about 76 degrees today. 76 right there in san jose a record high. we may be near 80 in morgan hill and santa cruz. tonight you can see the tule fog and some other fog developing along the coast and into the north bay. 49 in napa. san jose about 55 degrees am so here we are. tomorrow morning at 4:00 we're seeing lake and mendocino counsele counties with light rain. it moves into sonoma counselee and parts of napa and it could be moderate as we head through the 10:00, 9:00, 10:00 hour and then it tapers back to some light rain and scattered showers. and then after that maybe a scattered shower. for the most part it's over. our best chance of anything measurable will be from about santa rosa, calistoga northward from .01 to a quarter of an inch in clear lake. a look at my seven-day forecast.

welcome back. major news from j. crew. they say they plan to close nearly 40 different stores. that's 6% of its stores nationwide because of recent losses and they have had slumping sales. in the last quarter, though, their losses more than doubled. and now the coo of the company says it's going to change from a traditional brick and mortar specialty retailtoer not the first time we've heard that. j. crew is not the only retailer struggling now, as many of you know. this is pretty alarming to me. more stores have closed this particular year than any other year on record, ledreggie. >> i still like going into physical stores. this hurts me. you'll shoot an eye out, kid. that classic line. when that film came out in 1983 it was definitely not a hit.

and the director had to forgo his salary because it was made on such a low budget. we're learning a lot of interesting facts about our favorite holiday films in a new "20/20" special. peter billingsley, remember him? he's all grown up and interviewing actors from some of the most iconic christmas movies and that includes tim allen from the santa claus films. as part of the special billingsley dished with me and he told me that not all was jolly on that set. >> i did learn that tim allen apparently does not like children at all and had to work with about 1,000 of them on the film to his own admission. these poor little kids were fans and looking up to him, and apparently he was this grinchy in that movie as in the first act in real life. >> billingsley, lights, camera, christmas -- inside holiday movie classics airs tonight at 10:00 p.m. followed by abc 7

you can see five-mile visibility in observing. six in san carlos of it's getting hazy there. a look at your 12-hour accuweather day planner. 52 to 55. a mild start. we should be in the 30s and 40s. by noon, 63 to 68 with hazy sunshine and high clouds. 62 at the coast. 67 to 70 the rest of us. what a gorgeous evening. 59 at the coast. low to mid-60s at 7:00 elsewhere. calm commute as far as the weather goes. maybe not so much as far as the traffic goes. hey, sue. >> there are some hot spots. not your normal commute, though. coming off the bay bridge we were watching some caltrans or chp traffic breaks. they were stopping the traffic to clear something out of the roadway. they're gone now but look at the slow traffic coming off the span. so that's not very typical. beautiful morning. the sun is coming up at the toll plaza but you are delayed getting through the tolls back to marina on the other side of the span there heading towards san francisco -- or san rafael. if you are heading to san

francisco there's the slow traffic across the upper deck of the bay bridge. not a terrible backup but the metering lights are turned on. we had an earlier zen, an overturn 101 near sfo. i'm not seeing a lot of slow traffic there. just use caution in that area and as mike said the fog is thick. if you're in it, no high beams. remember that. guys? >> thank you, sue. happening today two former high school students are coming forward with their allegations of sexual abuse at a prominent south bay high school. they say the school covered it up for decades. >> these allegations are getting national attention. matt keller is live at presentation high in san jose. good morning, matt. >> reporter: presentation high school is on thanksgiving break as of yesterday, so no students will be here today. however, two former students will be speaking out about changes they'd like to see here at presentation high school thmt will take place at a law firm. the two former presentation high school students will share their

sexual abuse stories and allegations. presentation high school has covered up sexual abuse claims for more than three decades. katherine leehane and cheryl marshall are asking for changes they say will protect students from sexual abuse. leehane wrote an article for "the washington post" on her experience by a teacher back in 1990 here at the all-girl catholic school. she said that has sparked other students to come forward about their sexual abuse by teachers. according to the media partner "the mercury news" two teachers were put on paid leave. afterward presentation's principal mary miller sent parents a letter about the allegations. she wrote, these cases are being thoroughly investigated by the appropriate authorities and we will not be able to share conclusions of these investigations because of privacy law. but we want you to know what is occurring to ensure rumors and % false information. do not make their way through the school community. the press conference is being held at 1:00 this morning. reporting live, matt keller, abc

7 news. we're tracking this story, the driving force behind emeryville-based pixar as the latest executive accused of sexual misconduct. co-founder and disney animation chief john lasseter is taking a six-month sabbatical after admitting to making missteps that made some employees feel uncomfortable. in an internal e-mail he apologized to anyone who received, quote, an unwanted hug or any other gesture they felt crossed the line. disney is the parent company of pixar and abc 7. uber admits it broke california law in trying to conceal a cyber attack that exposed the personal information of 57 million customers and drivers. hackers took names, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, and even drivers license numbers in the octoberbreach. uber paid the hackers $100,000 to delete the information they stole and keep quiet about the attack. the company says there is no evidence the information was misused.

>> yuber's hired and is monitoring the affected accounts. they have flagged them for additional flag protection. they're also encouraging users to monitor credit accounts including their uber account for any issues. >> uber was required to alert state regulators of the breach. the company fired its security chief for his role in hiding it. watching developing news from our live desk, an escaped inmate captured in stockton, and we've now learned the santa clara county sheriff's office does plan to provide an update later today so we'll be watching for that. they escaped from the santa clara county courthouse in palo alto. the two men in an suv yesterday. chp officers tried to pull them over on interstate 5. one was driving. after a short chase he was arrested at a walmart. but, get this, bivins actually jumped into the driver's seat and then drove off.
