forecast as you go. a nearly three-week manhunt for an escaped inmate ended today. he escaped from a palo alto courthouse with another inmate who is already in custody. we are live from san leandro with the details of the arrest, alissa? >> reporter: john bivins was staying in this room, room 204. the manager tells me he arrived yesterday but investigators were able to track him down and they showed up a few hours later. instead of kicking down the door, they watched and waited from upstairs all night long because there were kids in the adjoining rooms. around 9:30 this morning, u.s. masha marshals forced him into custody. the manager says someone else booked the room and let bivens inside. the car was towed from the parking lot. this started on november 6.

47-year-old bivens and a fellow inmate escaped from a courthouse, a task force has been searching four them. a man named it and they shocked him repeatedly with a taser. >> i was coming from the outside, and i was parking my car, and the police come ooh. >> reporter: mcclowe was captured tuesday. he was spotted at a walmart in stockton. bivens was also there but was able to get away. he got into a car and tried to run over a chp officer and deputy u.s. marshal while they shot at him. he was later captured on surveillance video at a gas

station. both were facing sentences for armed robbery. bivens is being treated at a hospital and sent back to santa clara where he will face additional charges. abc 7 news. >> thanks, alice sachlt the chp has identified a 47-year-old sacramento man. fred lowe was booked at the contra costa county jail following a hit and run that set off a collision that killed four people and injured six. he's charged with four counts of felony hit and run, dui and driving on a suspended license. bail set at $1 million. a device exploded inside a home inial alameda. postal inspectors are sharing new details and we are live in alameda with more on this story. >> reporter: scary story for sure. neighbors say a police officer

side, minnesota senator al franken broke his silence amid accusations of four women of improper touching. >> this whole thing has been, you know, embarrassing. >> reporter: franken says he will not resign and will fully cooperate with a senate ethics investigation into his behavior. and on the house sid side, 88-year-old michigan representative john conyers stepped aside as the top democrat on the judiciary committee. the house democrat initially defended conyers. >> john conyers is an icon in our country. >> reporter: later, pelosi said a legacy is not a license for harassment. i'm really pleased to share this information with you. just because you're working off the turkey and mashed potatoes doesn't mean you can't enjoy a beer.

the father of the man who was bitten by a great white shark says seeing his son's injuries was horrifying. 25-year-old gregor was bitten while fishing with his father. he spoke with a tv station. doctors say he'll make a full recovery after the attack. his father, arman says his son was bit two or three fisherman nearby came to their aid. the shark was at least 15 feet long. the beer in hopes of expanding crowds to the
