4:00 and then the coast and bay. let's find out what frances is following. >> i definitely noticed a chill in the air this morning as you head out the door. traffic is looking great right now, no accidents on the free ways reported to chp. here is westbound 80 for head lights moving through emeryville, fine down to the bay bridge and the san matteo bridge you are good to go in both directions, fine into san matteo, foster city, no problems on 101 on the peninsula. there is an accident through the altamonte pass avenue but it's on grant line road at altamonte pass road. drive times still good, westbound 580 tracy to castro valley 39 minutes. this morning starts the fourth day of deliberations for the jury considering the kate steinle case. >> the jury has to decide if the defendant intentionally shot and killed the san francisco woman on pier 14. amy hollyfield is live for us in san francisco. >> reporter: good morning. the jury is set to start deliberating at 9:00 this

morning. josé garcia zarate is accused of second degree murder in a shooting he calls an accident. kate steinle was killed in the shooting at pier 14 in san francisco two years ago. the jury had a question yesterday during their deliberations, but the judge did not let reporters into the courtroom to listen to the question-and-answer session with the attorneys. zarate is an undocumented immigrant who he was set to be deported for the sixth time but because of san francisco's sanctuary city laws he was allowed to stay and that is why this case ignited a debate on immigration and got national attention. when the verdict is reached the judge will give every one a half hour's notice before it is read, the jury is set to deliberate until 4:30 today. amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> you can be the first to know when that verdict comes down by down loading the app.

we will also bring you the verdict live on air and online at abc7news.com. pg&e still trying to figure out what caused a gas explosion in san francisco's bernal heights. no one was hurt but the explosion ripped through an apartment building and caused major damage on mission street around 10:00 yesterday morning. crews spent much of the day relighting pilot lights and inspecting the pipe they get was the source of that leak. pg&e has hired a third party to help them determine the cause. senate republicans are continuing their push for tax reform this week and it seems they have a long way to go. gop leaders can only afford to lose two votes and already two republican senators are no votes. steve danes of montana and ron johnson of wisconsin. got complain the tax bill favors large corporations over small businesses. the budget office predicts the bill would cause a $1.4 billion hole over the budget in the next ten years. president trump will travel to capitol hill to join the push for tax reform.

the president will head to capitol hill today to rally republican senators, they are trying to pass their tax reform bill this week but it's unclear if they have the votes. the "washington post" says it has debunked a roy moore accuser. it appears she was trying to embarrass the newspaper as a part of an undercover sting. the woman told the post moore impregnated her in 1992 and that the senate candidate talked her into getting an abortion when she was just 15 years old. the post learned the woman is connected to the conservative group project var tas an organization that targets democratic groups and major media outlets. the post says the story is false. during interviews the woman repeatedly asked the reporter to guarantee her that moore would lose the special election if the paper reported her story. this morning here at the live desk i'm closely monitoring a developing story in north carolina. a huge search under way right

now for a missing three-year-old girl. first responders have been looking on the ground and by air. mariah woods uses braces to help her walk and the child's grandmother says she was shy with strangers so likely wouldn't just go with a stranger. investigators have asked everyone in the area to check their yards their sheds and officers this morning do believe she was abducted. i will let you know as soon as we get an update. new this morning, only 30% of california ninth graders are expected to earn a bachelor's degree. that's staggering statistic was released by the public policy institute of california. lts researchers found most graduates don't even complete college preparatory courses required for admission to csu or uc systems. the ppic suggests school districts increase the number of college prep courses, place more students in those courses and beef up graduation requirements. happening today oakland city council is expected to discuss the sun cal homes project in the

and welcome back. this morning an erupting volcano in bali continues to have a major impact on tourists for a second straight day the airport there will be shut down, it's disrupting travel for tens of thousands of people on that island and to surrounding islands. officials say the volcanic ash poses a huge safety risk to aircraft so the airport will most likely be closed for a third day also. meantime right now authorities in bali have told 100,000 people living near the volcano to evacuate and get out of the

i'm for more than 100,000 traffic accidents since the release. researchers looked at accident data between march of 2015 and november of 2016 and they say the number of accidents increased significantly after pokemon go was released in july. the likelihood of an accident near a stop increased by 29%. when the craze started to fade so did the number of accidents. the fda is saying if you own a dog to be careful if you give your dog bone treats that you find at the store. they say they have received nearly 70 reports of pet illnesses related to bone streets. now, the difference between a regular bone and a bone treat is that bone treats are ones that have already been processed, so these aren't like the natural bones that you find at the store. the fda reports the products may be dried through a smoking process or by baking and may
