so heavier coat this morning. maybe a lighter coat during the evening hours. we've had some issues this morning. an update with frances. the hot spot right now is in the north bay on southbound 101 at petaluma boulevard. an injury accident still blocks the left lane so traffic has been very heavy approaching the scene. you can see it's almost backed up and heavy into petaluma. the drive time is pretty bad. it's over an hour. in fact, right now santa rosa to san francisco is 1:20. be patient if you're heading there. san mateo bridge, a little crowded in the westbound direction. eastbound traffic flowing well. the "today" show has fired anchor matt lauer. the network making the announcement this morning. i do want to show you a tweet from nbc news when they made the announcement on the show. they said a colleague complained monday night about inappropriate

janine de la vega, abc 7 news. san jose police now say they've made an arrest after someone riddled a school with bullets. we were in the willow glenn neighborhood where you could see the bullet holes. someone shot up the school early yesterday morning. security camera captured an image of the gunman who was arrested around 8:00 last night. the campus was hit with the same type of vandalism over veterans day weekend. security has been increased at the school. 6:05 now. detectives say a wife's suspicions led to her husband's arrest on child porn charges. matthew coda. sheriff's deputies arrested him when he stepped off a flight. his wife first contacted deputies in september. >> and with her help we were able to work through this case and place her husband under arrest. she's the hero in this. >> coda remains in the san mateo county jail on $200,000 bail.

detectives believe he downloaded images from the internet and did not take any of the 3,000 images the deputies say they found on his computer. happening today the u.n. security council will hold an emergency meeting following north korea's latest missile test. u.n. ambassador nikki haley will take part along with japan and south korean leaders today. yesterday's testing reached the highest altitude ever recorded by a north korean missile. north korea says that puts the entire u.s. in range. president trump spoke shortly after with south korea's president to discuss the country's response. >> we will take care of it. it is a situation that we will handle. >> south korea's military conducted its own missile drills just minutes after north korea's launch was detected. lights in richmond are a little too bright as far as the mayor is concerned. now he wants to do something about it. the mayor said new l.e.d. lights are more than just annoyin.

i've been watching for quite some time. a toddler who vanished in north carolina over the weekend. she is only 3 years old and now police have thought this whole time she was abducted. we have gotten new pictures this morning, possibly a suspect. take a look here at these surveillance photos released of little mariah woods. you can see she appears to be with a middle-aged woman. she is photos were snapped inside of a walmart in moorhead city about 40 miles east of jacksonville, north carolina, from where that little girl was taken from inside her home. and this morning we have federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies looking at these photos trying to find this pair and hoping to get that little girl home safe. i've been watching for updates and so far that search continues. natasha? >> certainly hoping for the best. thanks, jessica. pet owners in san jose are on edge after learning two cats were shot at with arrows. who would do this? neighbors say one cat is still

recovering from surgery after being hit in the stomach. >> are you prepared to do the time for the crime? it's not a small thing to attack people's animals and endanger human lives. >> the other incident happened in october. that cat survived. sources tell abc 7 news the arrows used in the attacks appear to be similar. police are asking anyone with information about either attack to please contact them. some new details now. it appears chinatown businesses will receive nearly $450,000 in city support because of construction delays for the central subway project according to "the examiner." the budget and finance committee is scheduled to vote on releasing $225,000 from the committee's reserve. it would be matched by the office of economic workforce development. chinatown base businesses have been affected by the lack of parking spots taken up by construction. the subway is set to open a year later than originally planned. dhl plans to order ten tesla

semis. they will be used for same day deliveries. walmart has said it will give the new trucks a try. tesla semis were unveiled november 16th and can run 500 miles off a single charge. so important to have a working smoke alarm in your home. i was proud to help kick off operation 7 save a life in san francisco. it is the eighth year abc 7 news has teamed up with the local fire departments, home depot and kidde. kidde announced a gift of 4,400 smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. >> the donation will go a long way to saving lives. >> the fire departments will hand out the detectors to those they see in need. over the past decade kidde has been giving the bay area more than 25,000 smoke detectors and 3,000 carbon monoxide alarms.

today. hi, everybody. grab the sunglasses. a look at san rafael. no fog there but there is some across the north bay. it's less widespread and will get out of here much quicker and you'll be left with sunshine like we're seeing from the exploratorium. milder highs today. your second accuweather highlight, the weekend, yesterday i told you don't change your plans. it's trending drier and milder. and december dry and then warm. medium range models, not a single chance of wet weather in december. today, look at this, along the coast our extremes. 61 in half moon bay to 66 in santa cruz. we'll throw ukian in at 66. 62 in san francisco to about 65 in places like fairfield and also in san jose and morgan hill. now look at the storm to our north and the waves generating 20 or 30-foot storms. for us 10 to 15. this storm, unfortunately for us, will stay to the north and not bring us any rain.

the only injury is a hand injury. the hostage is now safe with no injuries. they think the suspect and hostage had a domestic relationship. a high-speed chase ended with the crash. >> just after 10:00 p.m. they received reports of a group of cars getting ready to race. the female driver took off and the pursuit began. officials say the driver tried to exit at solano way and lost control and crashed. the driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. officials say she will be booked into jail when she is released. now to an overnight fire in the east bay. shortly before midnight. the alameda county fire department posted these photos on its instagram page. they show crews putting out the fire. officials say a woman was treated for smoke inhalation. she was not taken to the hospital. no one else was hurt.

it will get breezy and cool over the weekend. frances? we've had a few hot spots come and go. we're dealing with normal delays. traffic is a bit crowded so the drive time across from hayward into foster city is about 27 minutes. not bad. this is also slow and go as you make your way to the maze and that is backed up all the way to the bay bridge toll plaza. the earlier hot spot still warm because the crash has cleared but there's some residual traffic. all lanes now open. the drive time is improving. unfortunately, it is still slow. it is 1:13. a great way to go is mass transit. b.a.r.t., ace, and cal train no delays. just normal delays. no major problems there.

bellagio and casino surveillance shows him wearing a wig and glasses. you can see his face there. he was armed with a handgun and, get this, after james woods was playing poker just 30 feet away, he tweeted that casino staff quietly handed the man money and did nothing to endanger customers. the robber got away and police right now are following some leads but they say they are still looking for that person this morning. matt, back to you. happening today moscow's ambassador to the united states will be in san francisco to inspect the former russian consulate. after washington ordered moscow to vacate some of its diplomatic properties. the move came as relations soured between the two countries. no word on what the ambassador wants to see. russian officials say he's scheduled to meet with business leaders. 6:46 now. a chance to see the red-hot chili peppers and do some good.

even warmer tomorrow. some of us with our home thermometers may hit 70. pry day the increasing high clouds will dim our sunshine enough to take temperatures down a couple degrees. more clouds over the weekend but the cold front now looks dry. it will just bring us a cool and breezy sunday with temperatures in the 50s and then sunshine for monday and tuesday with 58 to 62. pretty close to where we should be for early december. hi, frances. there's a new crash in hayward on northbound 880 at tennyson. looks like three cars involved and at least one lane is blocked. in the northbound direction there isn't much slowing at this point but southbound traffic is slow as you make your way out of hayward towards fremont. that's the usual delay there. and still sluggish and slow in spots on southbound 101 because of an earlier accident north. it's starting to pick up there but it's red as you make your way past the crash, moving slower at 12 miles an hour. so the drive time unfortunately
