>> announcer: live where you live, this is abc7 news. matt lauer has been terminated from nbc news. >> the day for many started with this. news of the firing of longtime "today" show anchor matt lauer. tonight we are hearing about new stunning accusations of sexual behavior inside lauer's office. good evening, i'm dan ashley. >> and i'm kristen sze. tonight, "the new york times" has published a detailed account of some of the accusations against lauer. we want to warn you, you may find some of the details very disturbing. >> a woman told the times in 2001 that lauer called her into his office. once she sat down, he pressed the button at his desk to lock the door. she says he then asked her to unbutton her blouse. after that, she told the times he stepped out from behind his desk, pulled down his pants and had intercourse with her. >> at some point, she passed out and woke up on the floor with

her pants down. lauer's assistant took her to a nurse after that. >> now, so far nbc has received at least three complaints about lauer's behavior. >> abc news reporter maggie rule la is in new york with the latest developments. >> good morning. breaking news overnight. matt lauer has been terminated from nbc news. >> her voice trembling, savannah guthrie delivered the news she herself had learned just hours before. >> our chairman has released a statement saying a colleague had come forward reporting behavior in violation of our company's standards. how do you reconcile your love for someone with the revelation that they have behaved badly. >> there have been rumblings a story was in the works about lauer. but for many, many people, including many nbc staffers, this was a huge shock. >> reporter: nbc now confirms that two new employees have come forward with complaints against lauer. adding to a report released by varie variety detailing a two month long investigation into lauer's

behavior, citing interviews with at least three women who identified themselves as victims of sexual harassment by lauer. >> that's what we kept hearing from multiple sources, that the problem with matt lauer is he had so much power that nobody wanted to speak up. >> reporter: in the report, variety claims lauer allegedly once gave a colleague a sex toy as a present and included an explicit note. another female employee reportedly claims he summoned her to his office and then dropped his pants. and according to several accounts in the report, lauer was allegedly known for making lewd comments verbally and over text messages. as for the accuser who went to nbc news monday with her attorney, nbc news says the alleged inappropriate sexual behavior started at the 2014 olympics in sochi and continued for months after the games. lauer's firing comes just one week after another network tv anchor, charlie rose, was fired from cbs after several women came forward with accusations of sexual harassment. maggie rulli, abc news, new york. an 11-year-old getaway

driver is among 11 juveniles arrested in san jose over the weekend after a violent crime spree. abc7 news reporter katie marzullo is live at police headquarters with details. katie? >> reporter: kristen, so police made those 11 arrests but we've learned a 12th suspect ran from police and got away over the weekend. police have identified 15 victims, but say there could be more. it started with a carjacking at communications hill on friday. >> she was assaulted by the suspects. she attempted to hold on to her vehicle, and when they drove away, she was thrown off the vehicle and hit the ground. >> reporter: san jose detectives said that was followed by seven armed robberies, four carjackings, four car thefts and two residential burglaries across the city. ultimately police arrested 11 juvenile suspects after three separate high speed pursuits. the drivers were 11, 14, and 17 years old. lieutenant paul joseph said kids on violent crime sprees is becoming a trend. >> it is quite alarming, and

we've been successful in arresting many of them. but as soon as we arrest them, it seems there's another group that pops up the following weekend. >> reporter: the bill wilson center in santa clara works to divert offenders from the criminal justice system. >> we don't want them to end up on high speed chases with the police or in juvenile hall. once they're in juvenile hall, they're going to learn more about crime. >> reporter: the ceo said early intervention is key. >> this is a pattern. then we need to look at our community and say, okay, what is causing this to happen? >> reporter: detectives believe there could be more victims from over the weekend. if you're a victim or if you have any information, you're asked to call police. in san jose, katie marzullo, abc7 news. people packed the bill graham civic auditorium tonight to rally behind an officer critically injured in the line of duty. officer he'll he was hit by a suspect's car

last month. information on the fund-raiser to help with his long recovery. ♪ >> reporter: from lively music to loud cheering. san francisco police officers showed up for one of their own. >> i walk past his locker every day, and it's not easy. >> reporter: the officer suffered a traumatic brain injury back on october 18th. a suspect hit the officer with an suv as he tried to avoid arrest in the tenderloin. >> i heard all the sirens racing through this neighborhood, and we knew something really terrible had happened. >> reporter: the officer is now being treated at a facility in the south bay. his wife, a schoolteacher, is by his side. and mary condi, of another planet entertainment, went into action planning a fund-raiser. help that family. >> reporter: in less than three weeks, organizers coordinated all of this silent auction material, including some rare items like a signed metallica drum head. tenderloin officers helped plan the event at the bill graham

[ applause ] >> reporter: for more on officer tankel and how you can help, go to abc7news.com. in san francisco, katie utas, abc7 news. 11 people will need to find another place to stay after fire raced through two mission district buildings in san francisco this evening. the two-alarm blaze broke out at a home on shot well near 24th street just before 7:00 and spread next door. it took firefighters more than an hour to bring it under control. in an instant, a san francisco family found themselves homeless when an explosion ripped through their apartment. the godoy family lived there. a couple in their 70s along with their son, who is deaf. on monday, an explosion damaged

their apartment. investigators say a gas leak is the reason for that. pg&e says it remains under investigation, and the godoys are still coming to terms with what happened. >> it's scary because there's a lot of people there, and my house -- my home was very bad. >> the red cross has secured the godoys a hotel room at least through monday. friends and family have put up a gofundme page, and pg and e says it is also providing some assistance. a series of tweets this morning by president trump have provoked an international backlash from america's closest ally. at issue, three re-tweets by the president that were originally posted by an anti-islam ultra nationalist party called britain first. they're known in the uk for their hate-filled incitement. now, the videos purport to show muslims engaged in violent acts. but the authenticity of one has been debunked by the embassy of the netherlands.

the white house says that doesn't matter. >> look, again, whether it's a real video, the threat is real, and that is what the president is talking about. >> british prime minister theresa may condemned the president, saying he should not have re-tweeted britain first. the president didn't let her message go unanswered. he tweeted tonight, theresa may, don't focus on me. focus on the destructive radical islamic terrorism that is taking place within the united kingdom. we are doing just fine. apple tonight has released a fix for the password flaw on its new operating system. that flaw allowed anyone to log onto any mac with the new operating system by signing in as an other user, then typing the word "root" for a user name and leaving the password blank. that simple move allowed the rogue user to access everything in your computer and even lock you out of it. the security update will be automatically installed.

in many ways he's become the country's de facto leader on climate change, and tonight governor jerry brown helped kick off a high profile environmental summit in san francisco. lilian kim explains his appearance also brought out a group of protesters. >> i can't think of anyone better to kick off this dinner. >> reporter: op-ed columnist thomas friedman interviewed governor jerry brown before a packed room at the metreon. this is the first "new york times" climate tech summit. to many here, brown is a hero who has been taking on the president on climate change. the governor says california is currently at nearly 50% renewable energy. 100% by 2040 is not out of the question. >> california is actively

pursuing an energy policy that we can sustain in the face of federal opposition. >> ban fracking now. >> reporter: but to the environmental activists who protested outside, brown is a hypocrite, mainly because of his refusal to ban fracking, the controversial form of oil extraction. >> he's talking out of both sides of his mouth. the funny thing is everybody is for clean energy and renewable energy, but governor brown has not yet shown the courage and resolve to take on the fossil fuel industry. >> reporter: fracking didn't come up when brown was onstage. instead the focus was on the future. the governor will host world leaders for a global warming summit next year. he also wants to come up with a forest management plan. >> we're going to have to find a way to take out a lot of that kindling, a lot of that fuel that is causing us such trouble. >> reporter: brown says time is critical. he only has a little more than a year as governor. in san francisco, lilian kim, abc7 news. metered parking in san francisco soon could cost you as much as $18 an hour during

special events. it's part of a proposed change to a san francisco municipal transportation agency program that adjusts meter rates based on demand. right now it's being used on 7,000 meters with a maximum special venerate of $7. the agency is now considering increasing that rate and expanding surge pricing to all parking meters. on thursday, a public hearing will be held. here's a question. when the day that cars do all the driving themselves comes around, how do you keep us entertained when we're in the car? intel and warner bros. hopes to have a solution by employing augmented reality to transform self-driving cars of the future into immersive entertainment zones. this concept transforms the car into the bat mow bibl on a trek through gotham city. intel says the average american spends 300 hours in their car every year. they see an opportunity to turn that time into hours spent consuming media. the movie that's made

history on rotten tomatoes for positive reviews is out in theaters now. santa rosa. down to three miles because of the fog. so tomorrow morning during the commute, be careful. there will be the patchy dense f fog, especially in the valleys. a few high clouds passing through. waves along the mendocino coast have been between 20 and 24 feet. so shortly before 10:00 p.m., they did issue a high surf advisory in effect until 1:00 a.m. our beach hazard statement for our entire coast has been extended until 3:00 a.m. tomorrow, and that's because you see those wave heights. they're between 12 and 16 feet. so definitely big waves. we're going to go from waves to water. king tides are coming up. as you take a look, here's sunday, december 3rd and monday, december 4th. you'll have to watch out for those king tides. higher than normal tides. could see some low-lying flooding along the coastline, especially if you're going for a walk or a run along the coast. highs for your thursday, 68 degrees in the south bay and san jose. this is warmer than where you should be. 67 in santa clara. on the peninsula, mid-60s.

in san mateo, half moon bay, downtown san francisco beautiful day, daly city, 61. in the north bay, many of you between low to mid-60s with sunshine. oakland, fremont, mid-60s, and it's going to be a bright day inland. mild as well. 65, concord and livermore. tree lighting taking place jack london square this friday in oakland. if you're going, it's just going to be stunning weather. 57 degrees, dry but cool. dropping down to 55. so a good idea to grab a coat if you are going to that and bundle up. 4:00 p.m., mendocino coast. looking at some rain by 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. the north bay has a chance of seeing some rain. if you're traveling to tahoe, a mix of rain and snow. we'll keep that chance in the forecast as you check out the kwaeth seven day, chilly morning, mild afternoon. december sunshine for friday. then a chance of showers in the north bay on saturday. much cooler this weekend.
