reporting live in oakland, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> amy, thank you. you can keep tabs on the toll plaza and on traffic where you live with our abc 7 news app. you'll get real time updates on major roads and freeways. make sure to enable push alerts to get breaking news as it happens. san francisco police are investigating a domestic violence incident that led to two arrests on the bay bridge. police responded to treasure island just after 9:00 last night saying an armed man ran onto the bridge as he was chasing a woman. they were detained on the bridge. the man tossed his gun on the ramp before officers were able to arrest him. it's not clear if he was arrested on the upper or lower deck. it's 4:30. good morning. here is a quick update on weather and traffic. we start with mike. let's talk about what's going on as far as your 12 accuweather day planner for today and you can see over my shoulder right there we're starting off in the 40s and 50s and we'll be in the 50s to near 60 at noon, about 57 to 59, near

ghost ship operator almena owned the space. saturday marked one year since the inferno. family and friends held a vigil for the victims. almena and harris have pled not guilty to 36 counts of manslaughter. the preliminary hearing is the first time a judge will hear the evidence in the case. a firefighter is recovering from an injury battling a house fire. fire engulfed the home on san pablo dam road. the firefighter was taken to the hospital for an injured leg. a person suffered smoke inhalation as well. one neighbor described what she saw. >> we noticed the fog was rolling in but it looked a little peculiar so we ran out and we found the house completely just smoke was coming out from all the windows. >> firefighters think an unattended cooking pot may have

started the fire. president trump facing new questions in the russia investigation after tweets and attacks on former fbi director james comey. abc's kenneth molton joins us on that. >> reporter: more on the president's weekend tweets. president trump in another fight with fired fbi director james comey attacking the bureau tweeting after years of comey the fbi's reputation is in tatters, the worst in history. comey fired back tweeting the fbi's honest, the fbi is strong, and the fbi is and always will be independent. the back and forth ignited as the president's legal team worked to explain this tweet fro the president's account about former national security adviser michael flynn. i had to fire general flynn because he lied to the vice president and the fbi. >> the president knew he had lied to the fbi which means that

when he talked to the fbi director and asked him effectively to drop this case he knew flynn had committed a federal crime. >> reporter: the president's lawyer says he wrote the tweet. the issue significant because comey gave sworn testimony to congress that the president urged him to go easy on flynn. >> i took it as a direction. as president of the united states, with me alone, saying i hope this, i took it as this is what he wants me to do. >> reporter: trump tweeted, i never asked comey to stop investigating flynn. just more fake news covering another comey lie. robert mueller continues to build his case in the russia investigation. this after flynn struck a deal entering the guilty plea friday. >> that plea agreement does not, to me, indicate there's very much else there. >> reporter: top democrats on capitol hill believe we're beginning to see an obstruction of justice case. comey wasn't the only one who defended the fbi against the president.

sally yates tweeted the only thing in tatters is the president's respect for the rule of law. reporting live here in washington this morning kenneth moton, abc 7 news. >> kenneth, thank you. if you have business with the city of oakland planned strikes may affect you. a walkout plan for tomorrow will include two unions that represent nearly the entire city workforce, this is video of a walkout several years ago. the unions and city are locked in a dispute over wage increases. they plan to meet in a last ditch effort to avert that walkout. official also give more details on which city services will be impacted if a strike does occur. parents will have an opportunity to give their input about possible school closures in san jose. a community forum will be held at 5:30. five schools in oak grove's south region are at risk of closure and they include baldwin, frost, gilder and santa teresa. a drop in enrollment and is considering consolidating a total of eight schools.

a forum about the other three schools on the consolidation list will be held next monday. an emergency alert system in the wake of the wildfires. a look at how residents were notified of the approaching flames. sonoma and napa counties did not send out warnings through the wireless emergency alert system. they say it would have celled every cell phone connected to a tower and that could have caused traffic gridlock as people tried to flee. the fires are blamed for 44 deaths and the destruction of nearly 9,000 homes and buildings. victims of the north bay wildfires have another reminder they are not forgotten. abc 7 news was at valley of the moon winery as a free holiday dinner was served to about 100 people who lost their homes. just about everything there donated from the turkeys to the barbecues used to cook them. aside from the feast, the dinner had another purpose. >> one was to bring people back

together to gather with their friends and talk about their experiences. some people haven't seen each other since the fire happened. >> nearly one out of four homes was destroyed in the fire. the barbecues used to cook the meals were raffled off to raise funds for the victims. let's talk about what's going on outside right now. we have the king tides. they did ramp up over the weekend. and today it peaks at about 7 feet. 6.5 wednesday that will be our last one because that is the threshold for king tides. the park and ride will peak at 12:04 p.m. so right during the lunch hour. 12:52 tomorrow and 1:43 wednesday. and on either side of that, a couple hours, it will already be flooding. a look at our roof camera. our flag is unfurled already blowing north to south bringing

the truck attacks in france and new york city prompted at&t park to make those changes. 4:43 now. south korea and the united states have start add joint military exercise with hundreds of aircraft. the five-day drill is meant to improve the allies' war capabilities and preparedness. about 12,000 personnel are part of the drill. it comes a week after north korea test fired its most powerful missile ever. however, the air force says this training is held every year in late fall and is not directly in response to any particular incident. the world's top scientists, winners chosen from the fields of physics, life sciences and math. lilian kim was on the red carpet. >> reporter: scientists aren't used to being on the red carpet but this was their moment in the spotlight. >> this is not our ordinary every day life in our laboratories or working at our

tonight, even colder, look at all those 30s. the only areas not in the 30s san rafael, san mateo, half moon bay and san francisco. so freezing cold tomorrow. a better chance wednesday morning but highs will rebound with all of this sunshine and dry air into the upper 50s. and temperatures look like they'll be above average starting about wednesday through sunday, sue. we anticipate the backup. this fatal weekend crash, two are shut down, the right two lanes, 14 and 15, remain closed. you can see the cash backups are well to the mcarthur maze. with a 27-minute drive time, westbound 80 from highway 4 in hercules all the way through this backup and into san francisco. so it's not devastating yet.

irish officials say they won't sign off until that's resolved. the brakes on a plan limiting liability for autonomous vehicle makers. it allows companies off the hook if their car crashes and it wasn't maintained according to manufacturer specs, if the oil wasn't as changed as required. final regulations for self-driving cars are expected to be enacted early next year. a homeless man called a hero after saving two children from a fire in las vegas. the 36-year-old was near the home when it caught fire. a 3-year-old girl and 10-month-old boy were inside. their grandfather couldn't get to them because of the flames and a locked security door. he pride open ted open the door. the children would have been seriously injured or even killed if not for angelo's actions. they're calling him a true hero. local motorcycle clubs brought joy to some deserving bay area kids this weekend.

you can hear them coming. abc 7 news with the san francisco hospital where santa claus and a caravan roared in to bring joy to pediatric patients. they have brought toys to the hospital following gift donations, the riders sang at the hospital. the king tides not only affect the bay shoreline but the coast. that's why we have a coastal flood advisory through 3:00 tuesday evening. today's swells nearly 7 feet. nearly 6 1/2 by the time we get to tuesday so low-lying areas could flood. we have another issue to contend with and that's in the north bay valleys. it goes until 9:00 a.m. wednesday morning. tomorrow night before you go to bed, protect the plants, the pets, not necessarily the pipes.
