miles per hour gusts and we could see another huge push with the winds, and that high pressure system shoving thoinin winds offshore, and we won't see those get better until friday. >> we will be following the latest on those fires all morning long. now we turn to other breaking news this morning. we're learning of a reported assassination plot. against the british prime minister and our chief foreign correspondent terry moran has the latest from london. good morning, terry. >> reporter: good morning, robin. this was a serious and chilling plot broken up by security services here just last week. it was to be a two-stage attack. first a bomb, an ied, would be detonated at the heavy iron gates at the end of this street and then a second attack, armed with a suicide vest and a knife would storm number 10 itself, the home of the british prime minister. the goal, kill theresa may. the two men, mohammed imran and naa'imur rahman, were in court this morning charged with

terror-related crimes. they were remanded into custody and authorities say this was the ninth terror plot broken up in the united kingdom this year alone. when you remember this country was hit five times in 2017 with terror attacks that killed dozens, you get a sense of just how serious -- how dire the terror threat is here. robin. >> you truly do, terry. thank you. >> what a brazen move that. major new move from president trump. the middle east on edge this morning as the president set to become the first american president to recognize jerusalem as the capital of israel. he will also say he wants to move the u.s. embassy from tel aviv to jerusalem so let's bring in our chief global affairs anchor martha raddatz and our senior white house correspondent cecilia vega for the latest on all this. martha, you have got this growing chorus of world leaders warning the president against this move. >> reporter: of course, indeed, george. the turkish foreign minister is calling it a grave mistake that world bring chaos to the region.

britain's foreign minister and jordan's saying it will provoke muslims and christians alike. palestinian president mahmoud abbas called it unacceptable. i could go on and on but the bottom line is no one else in the world has an embassy in so it's safe to say this has alarmed leaders around the globe. >> it certainly has but the president been itching to do this for a long time getting a lot of pressure behind the scenes. >> reporter: yeah, george, and i'm told this really is about making good on that campaign promise. sources here tell me this is something the president wanted to do right after he took office, but we talk about regularly, that learning curve. one source told me he basically realized you can't snap your fingers and move an embassy. there has been pressure, strong pressure behind the scenes from evangelicals and others like sheldon anderson, that las vegas casino magnate, who is a megadonor to donald trump but i'm told today the white house has a conference call scheduled with evangelicals and pro-israeli groups to talk about this plan, but really it came down to the president not wanting to sign this waiver today to extend -- to keep the embassy in tel aviv.
7:12 am
that extension waiver without making it look like he has made some progress on this big campaign promise from him. >> he makes progress on the campaign promise but, martha, the big question going forward is what does this mean for the middle east peace process? he dispatched his son-in-law jared kushner to lead the u.s. effort there. >> reporter: you know, i don't know how this possibly helps any peace initiative, which as you said, the president's son-in-law kushner has been charged with and i think it says a lot about how little progress has been made. as for violence there, george, palestinians are calling for protests throughout the region, americans have been warned not to go where crowds are gathered or into jerusalem's old city and the u.s. is sending in additional marines to embassies throughout the region and even if there are not protests, nothing public, this is something that will simmer for a very long time, george. >> yeah, it could set off repercussions across the region but, cecilia, the president is sort of finessing this a little bit. hard to know when the embassy will actually be moved. >> reporter: yeah, martha said it. there's not been a lot of
7:13 am
groundswork laid. not a lot of progress made on this front. the white house says it could take three to four years to build an embassy there. so we're talking about a phone shall donald trump second term, if there is one, happening under an entire new administration. >> cecilia and martha, thank you very much. we will be back for a special report at 1:00 eastern. robin? okay, there are just six days until the alabama senate vote and overnight roy moore got some high-profile support from steve bannon, president trump's former chief strategist. our chief national correspondent tom llamas was there. he joins us this morning. >> reporter: robin, good morning to you. steve bannon unleashing on what steve bannonried into what he calls the elites and the republican establishment who were out to get roy moore in a move straight out of the trump campaign playbook, this as the democrat in this race is trying to fire up his base to show up on election day. >> on december 12th you'll see an election that the world won't forget. [ cheers and applause ]

7:35 am
of innocent until proven guilty. it means that the rest of society has to be careful about what they do. they shouldn't just be rash and take action against someone. i think that the challenge for him here is the serial nature of the allegations and the type allegation. you're not talking about like dustin hoffman. you're talking about allegations of rape, and you are talking about, according to reports, some multiple accusers, and that puts netflix in a tough spot. >> and i'm glad you cleared it up like that because when -- there's so many different cases out there and this one is, you know, very serious. >> you know, we in the law always talk about first degree, second degree, third degree and i think it's important to do that in this context too which is to say there are the -- there's the harvey weinstein, right, which involves enormous number of them and includes allegations of sexual assault and then it goes down from there to the bottom ones which are inappropriate comments, et cetera. and i think that the different kinds of allegations have to be treated differently. >> some are starting to fight back because we saw with ratner
7:36 am
like he is suing for defamation. do you think we'll see more? >> it depends. if they didn't do it you'll see them suing. the problem with something like ratner is there are a number of allegations against him and there's only one person he's going after. you know, it's the serial nature is that gets them into trouble. you have to say well, bill cosby, for example, seems to want to cherry-pick at times, which ones might have not done it. you either have to say it's all not true. none of it is true or, you know, or not. >> and, larry we've seen hollywood react very swiftly to these allegations and accusations. in part, is this about the near of losing audiences? >> sure, in the case of netflix that's a subscription service, new brand and trying to get as many customers as they want and be known for their programming and not for having stars who are accused of sexual assault. hollywood and these organizations, the studios and media organizations are groping
7:37 am
