now breaking news. >> passengers are being rescreened after a threat was met. you can see the plane is still at the gate. officials there tell us a threat was made via text message about alaska flight 837. it's scheduled to go from san jose to honolulu. tsa and the bomb squad responded before the flight took off. now, passengers evacuated the plane while bomb sniffing dogs searched it. they turned up nothing and authorities determined this threat was not credible.

of the major freeway. one of several wildfires burning in southern california today. the thomas fire in ventura county scorching more than 55,000 acres so far. at least 150 homes and buildings damaged or destroyed. 12 others still at risk. >> it's just devastating. >> this was supposed to by die in my house and the only thing is the house died before i did. >> we packed up. everybody's gone. >> reporter: 150,000 others forced to evacuate in l.a. county where the creek fires charred more than 11,000 acres. dozens of homes gone. ferocious santa ana winds fueling the flames. >> something blew over and caught the palm trees on fire. when they caught on furyk it just started. >> reporter: firefighters desperately trying to save houses engulfed in flames. one overcome by heat collapsing

just before 10:00 last night. the flames wiped out seven vehicles in carport. ten other vehicle were damaged. no one was hurt. and that cause sunday investigation. happening now, day two of a major strike in oakland. 3,000 employees are staying home or taking to the picket lines as the city is trying to figure out how they can possibly end this. amy hollyfield live. amy? >> reporter: hi, reggie. look at the big rally going on at city hall as they try to keep the energy going for day two. i'm hearing hope from both sides this could possibly get resolved today. both sides want these employees to get back to work. as they picket on day two of this strike, some workers are thinking about their jobs and how the work for the city of oakland is not getting done. wu librarian noted she knows the book drops are overflowing.

>> it's hard on the city financially, city services, we're not serving our public, we're going to have people coming to story time and they're not going to hear a story very b. >> reporter: but they say they're going to continue. >> i'm fired up. they're doing what they should have done last week so we can go back to wore. >> reporter: the city council is discussing things behind closed doors. the workers hope the counsel will agree to a quick fix, a one-year deal with a 4% salary increase and set aside the issues they can agree on for later negotiations. >> want them to really accept our one-year contract. it's the same as they offered us. let's do this so we can get back to work and we'll dewith year two in year two. >> do you think today's the day? >> oh, i hope so. i hope so so much. >> reporter: and if that doesn't happen, the workers say they're ready to keep the strike going. >> it's indefinite right now.

long time and it's a conversation that this country needs to have. and i think when we start having to talk about differences between sexual assault and sexual groping, you're having the wrong conversation. >> an aide said the minnesota senator tried to forcibly kiss her after a taping of one of his radio shows. franken is denying that allegation. also new developments in the harvey weinstein scandal. six women have filed a lawsuit against the former movie mogul and are seeking class action status. they're accusing weinstein or sexual assault and also other crimes. 're suing mir max and his former board of directors. women like these who have been speaking out against weinstein have been inspired for "time" magazine.
