now from abc 7, live breaking news. >> breaking news out of fremont, sky 7 took this video tin minen minutes ago, aftermath of a crash between an suv and trailer. there's quite a bit of water surrounding the scene. it appears the suv is on top of a fire hydrant. see it there. it's causing that water to gush out. we don't know yet how many people are involved. or if anyone is hurt. what a strange scene. responders are there. this is at mowry avenue and argenat way. let's see what it looks like now live. there you can see that vehicle

days. abc 7 meteorologist mike nicco with what we can expect. >> what happened to the beautiful bay area? doesn't look nice at all, does it? hi, everybody. here's a look from san rafael. it's even hazy here. this is where the bay area air quality management district forecasted the poorest air quality today. right now, everybody's just moderate. so it's healthy, but earlier when most of us were sleeping, vallejo did hit unhealthy levels. it is the north bay, not only today, tomorrow, but also sunday that could have the poor air quality. and the reason why, spare the air alerts are already in effect for all three of those days. now that means for all of us, wood burning is banned. all 24 hours of friday, saturday and sunday. hopefully a slight wind shift monday will help us out, reggie. i'll take a look at what's going on down south, how much longer they're going to be under critical fire conditions when we come back. >> okay. we'll pick it up from there. we're talking about the southern california fires where dangerous conditions are still in so many areas. hundreds of homes a s have alre been key stroi destroyed. there's a new fire leading to

more evacuations this morning. abc news reporter marci gonzalez tells us people had minutes to get out of their homes. >> reporter: latest fire erupting in san diego county, racing through neighborhoods. >> the fire was coming right at us. i mean, within matters of minutes it had spread. >> reporter: thousands of residents evacuated. at least four injured while trying to escape from the flames. >> it was just crazy. >> reporter: at least 20 homes destroyed. fire crews tries to save others from the air dropping fire retardant. >> oh, my god. >> reporter: catching the family inside this house off guard. all of the wildfires burning today in southern california are fueled by wind gusts now topping 55 miles an hour. >> these winds gusting, you have embers, as you can see the fire is pretty far away but sailing embers over our head right now. >> reporter: the largest fire in ventura county growing even more, flames scorching 132,000 acres and stud spreading.

>> whole town could go down the way the fire is coming around us. >> reporter: more than 400 homes and other buildings there have been destroyed. the winds are a bit lighter today. so firefighters are hoping this could help them start to get these fires under control. marci gonzalez, abc news, sylmar, california. the lilac fire in san diego county moved so fast trainers at a farm had to turn their horses loose to try and save them. this is near the san louie ray downs facility. the california horse racing board says close to 500 horses were stabled there. about 25 of them died when the fire swept through. the abc 7 news app has been sending out updates on the southern california wildfires. you can be the first to know as we get updates with major developments on this breaking news. download the arkbc 7 news app, enable the push alerts. developing news, union workers in oakland rejected the city's latest offer. they're still on strike. this is day four of public

employees off the job. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield has been at city hall every day of the strike. amy, i suppose the next move is going to come from the city. >> reporter: and it just came, reggie. i just talked to the mayor's spokesperson who said the city is ready to declare an impasse and bring in a state mediator. these workers are digging in and are full of energy this morning. they are not budging. they are ready to keep going. here's how we reached this point. there have been a few key moves in just the past few hours of this strike. workers on the picket line in oakland this morning say they were disappointed in the offer from the city and they reject it. major libby schaaf announced it last night. workers say it's not just the salary offer they don't like, they're also fighting for worker conditions. >> her offer fails to address the major issues s we want to address at this bargaining. there's no resolution on the homelessness issue, illegal

dumping, decemb dumping. >> reporter: the workers say they're willing to keep up the strong picket line. >> doing pretty good considering we've been out here four days, people's spirits are high. we're united in why we're out here. it's pretty good. >> reporter: the mayor made clear last night a counteroffer would not be accepted. union leaders say they're not sure what to believe anymore. >> if our absolute final offer is not accepted in its entirety, the next step is that we request formal mediation by the state. >> well, we're a little confused by their definition of last best final. this is the third last best final they've given us. they're all threatened to go to impasse and mediation if we don't accept them. >> reporter: the mayor has said this morning there will be an impasse and the council has directed that an impasse be declared and mediation take place. i asked if these employees would go back to work during mediation or stay on strike, and i'm told that would be up to the union's

morning of those same family members and friends and co-workers arriving here at doug and sarah funeral home in daly city. 46-year-old sisi hahn was killed this past saturday. bay bridge toll collector was working in her booth when a truck driver plowed into her. this morning many of hahn's fellow car trans workers are wearing orange ribbons in her honor. >> it's certainly a sad day for us and a sad day for sisi's family and cal trans as a work family, want to try to support her co-workers as well as her family as much as we possibly can. >> reporter: hahn leaves behind a husband and 10-year-old daughter. the truck driver from foster city was arrested. daniel burke faces dui and vehicular manslaughter charges. now that the stfs is overvice i police escort will take the family to the cemetery. reporting live in daly city, abc 7 news. >> certainly be thinking of them, thank you, matt. police issue an $11 million arrest warrant for a man wanted in a menlo park shooting. police are looking for pena,

also goes by gustavo the victim was shot multiple times at a homeless camp near the dumbarton bridge. police say the victim is still in the hospital. new developments out of washington this morning, president trump has signed a spending bill that would avoid a government shutdown and keep the federal government running at least until december 22nd. the president signed that bill at the white house after the house and senate acted to prevent a government shutdown over the weekend. the white house and congressional leaders are still negotiating a longer-term agreement. that measure makes money available to several states running out of funds for the children's health insurance program. a garage in livermore goes up in flames. we're getting this brand new video just into the abc 7 newsroom. what firefighters say is the silver lining to this pretty dramatic scene. plus, hype is only now dying down on the new iphone but we're already getting some information about what to expect next year. the d

new this morning, a huge garage fire in livermore, this broke out on gemini road and o'ryan way. brian thomas provided this video. no one was hurt and incredibly the flames didn't spread. officials say the fire was just contained to the garage. now today's morning money report. just when you thought you were safe with the newest iphone,

that apple expected to release three more next year. according to "business insider" one of those phones will be a big version of the iphone x, another one be a so-called mid-range version of the x with a less expensive screen to help lower the cost. the new phones may also pack larger batteries. prices for these new phones expected to start at $650. san francisco-based door dash could be getting a major financial boost. the tech blog, recode, reports japanese giant, softbank, is preparing to invest $300 million into the food delivery startup. door dash is one of several tartups focusing on delivering food from restaurants that don't formally offer a delivery. the salvation army needs more than just donations this year, they need bell ringers. . you see them all over the country this year. the salvation army of hayward says it's averaging 12 bell ringers per day. they usually had 32 in the past. it's no the just hayward. south san francisco says they also have a need , to volunteer go to our website, abc7news.com.

now your accuweathernicco. >> we're baking and burning in southern california but i wanted to show you how unusual the weather is in other places. look at this snow pick down in atlanta where they got a couple inches of snow in dixie and a couple more on the way. so lake tahoe, that's where your snow is right now. we're not getting any there, either. look how far south, even mexico, there's the rio grande river, there's brownsville. all had a little bit of snow this morning. it's starting to turn over to rain. you can see the white going from about baton rouge all the way up through birmingham, atlanta, in the appalachians where they're happy to see some of that.

even some of the rain in the southeast. that's where it's been. while we're on the other side, look at this, the unfortunate pushing back, another day of critical fire conditions. for our friends down south. everywhere you see in red which is about 7.9 million people, under that red flag warning until 8:00 sunday evening. and it's this area of high pressure that continues to bring those winds. they're not nearly as gusty as they were, but the air is still very dry and still moving around. for us we're starting to see a little bit of an encroachment of the high clouds. that's why our temperatures are a little cooler when you step outside this morning than this time yesterday morning. 66 in half moon bay. the wind is blowing off shore. the rest in the 50s right now. here's a look down at san jose, 280 at 17, definitely see the haze for the spare the air day. tonight, still need the heater. going to be in the 30s and 40s. above average highs. dry next week. it looks dry all the way through possibly christmas day, that's as far as our medium-range models go out. 69 in santa rosa and ukiah, warm
