fires. >> firefighters here in los angeles county are making a lot of progress. so much so that most of the evacuation orders here have been lifted. but at the two other fires you were talking about, they are still extremely dangerous. and growing. >> reporter: nablds lit up for the holiday. ravaged by flames. as the nir in san diego county scorching 4,000 acres in fewer than 12 hours spreads. >> the fire was coming right at us. you could feel the heat from the fire. >> reporter: 10,000 residents evacuated. four people injured. in this fire alone, 85 homes and other buildings damaged or destroyed. crews racing to save others. catching the family inside this house off guard. all six wild fires burning in southern california are fuelled by strong winds. >> the wind was so strong. >> reporter: there was double digit gusts carrying smoldering embers making the flames

fire protection gear used by firefighters was meant to be stored. ready for the next fire season. >> it's kept where it's available. but with e get geared up for the winter things. floods and river rescue. and that sort of thing. >> you're not putting this away yet? >> not at all. >> reporter: the engine to specifically combat wild fires will be put in action again. certainly by december these hills are a lot greener. instead we're seeing this. very dry brush. this is typically what you see during the summer months. >> we haven't had any rain recently. there's no heavy rain in the forecast. we're concerned the fire season is extending. >> reporter: the fires that occurred last october and the recent ones in southern california, were fuelled by very dry conditions and strong winds. he says the north bay is is it ill very vulnerable. he's asking people in the community to to do their part.

>> extra cautious. particularly because of the cold temperatures when they use fireplaces and fire pits. >> reporter: other fire districts are expected to follow the lead. >> take a look at this video from sky 7. photographed this afternoon. you can see how hazy the skies are. some of this is from the smoke from the southern california wild fire. we'll check in with spencer with the latest on the forecast. >> we are certainly seeing efd of the smoke coming up in to the bay area. the haze in the sky there. some is thin clouds. a lot is the smoke. and here's where it's coming from. the fires down south. center of high pressure over central california with its clock wise circulation. it pulling the smoke out to sea and back up into central california. that means the smoke is reaching the bay area. a view from the beach camera.

and as you can see we're having poor air quality the next two days. both days this weekend are spare the air days. because of the declining air quality. that red flag warning for high fire danger covers a huge portion of southern california. affecting 8 million people. gusting to 25 miles per hour. during the late night and over night hours gust reach over 40 miles per hour. and that's just at the sir fas. much stronger gusts in hiter elevations. that's what the firefighters are contending with. more details later. >> thank you. the winter is nowhere here in the west. that's not the case in the deep south. look at the drone video. in georgia. northwest of atlanta. it looks like new england there. it looks beautiful, schools are closed sp thousands are without power. the same story in mississippi. some towns are receiving record amounts of snow. six inches or more. and snow in new orleans.

right to privacy and secrecy and not name the names on their behalf was the right thing to do. from a legal standpoint and human. if you work in any large community statistically speaking there will be rapists there. it happens we know this to be true about the state capitol. we have been working so hard to try to get a hot line going and get services up and running. the assembly has been responsive. we had a good conference call today. they are trying to connect victims to services. the fact is if you see a transparent path to justice, you're more likely to come guard. that's true whether you are a staff person or a custodian in san francisco. or farm worker in fresno. >> what needs to happen systemically for the protection of women who come forward. and a clear consequence to deter future action. >> what with e need is zero
