detained in connection to the fire or for some other reason. we have heard reports there may have been another person arrested as well. police right now are looking into it. no injuries were reported. one final good-bye. mayor ed lee honored at san francisco city hall nearly one week after he passed away from a heart attack. >> colleagues, friends and families spoke in front of a packed audience to celebrate his life. ed lee's fellow mayor spoke with abc 7 news. >> ed was an incredibly collaborative, warm, generous person, and that came through so clearly. >> it's not just san francisco that will miss ed lee. so many people across this country and throughout the bay area were touched by his leadership, his kindness, and his amazing example. >> ed lee's family set up a fund in his name at the san francisco foundation. it will benefit nonprofits and social causes important to him. >> reverend fong with the

hours that power was out. it disrupted about 1,200 flights and this morning it is affecting the rest of the country including here in the bay area. i want to take you to sfo. flights were impacted at sfo. a live look at the airport right now. and we know at least two flights were already canceled this morning. according to flightaway.com more than 400 flights out of hartsfield will be canceled today. power was restored just before midnight local time. experts say the ripple effect of the outage could last for an entire week which would really impact the holiday travel. a fire in the undergrund facility caused the fire and the backup system was also damaged. they say terror cannot be ruled out yet. back to you. >> jessica, thank you. 6:04 now. a regional director with the democratic party is under investigation for sexual assault.

welcome back. in an exclusive interview with abc news we are hearing from suspended pbs talk show host tavis smiley of sexual misconduct against him. his suspension came after an independent investigation that smiley claims he knew nothing about and this morning on "good morning america" smiley was adamant about the relations and says they were consensual and added he was never given the opportunity to prove it. >> my attorneys asked them to talk to me whenever they wanted. they refused to talk to me. they were prepared to close this investigation without talking to me. only under threat of lawsuit did they agree to sit down and talk to me. they talked to me for three hours, and they never told me who the accusers were, what the allegations were, never allowed me to provide information. >> smiley answers the question

piece of cake. 24 to 25 minutes to get across the san mateo bridge. it is a holiday travel nightmare, and it's far from over. the lights are back on at atlanta's hartsfield-jackson international airport but the headache continues this morning. here's a live look at the world's busiest airport. and this morning there are still hundreds of delays and cancellations across the nation including some right here in the bay area. reporter tiffany wilson is at sfo with more. tiffany? >> reporter: good morning, jessica. yes, it's going to be a lot harder for some passengers to make it home to their families. there's already been about half a dozen flights from sfo to atlanta canceled today. you can tell there are a lot of crowds here. that means most flights are at capacity and it will be difficult for those passengers on the canceled flights to

rebook. the outage could not have come at a worst time. we're in the middle of the busiest travel season ever. 51 million people are expected to fly. more than 1,000 flights have been canceled. passengers say they cannot imagine what they went through yesterday. >> i feel we've been mentally preparing for this for a while. it's crazy and we know that. we got up early. the baby has been crying on the car ride, so hopefully he's done with that. we'll see how it goes. >> reporter: the royal family is grateful their flight is on time but there are going to be a lot of other families disappointed when their loved ones arrived hours not days when they were supposed to. it could take the airlines a week to recover from yesterday's outage. live at sfo, tiffany wilson, abc 7 news. tiffany, thank you.

hundreds packed san francisco city hall to say good-bye to mayor ed lee. >> outside city hall, look at the memorial people have been leaving, flowers, mementoes. these two daughters spoke at the celebration of life and talked about how he taught them community service at a young age. >> he showed me what it was like to work alongside others. nothing was too small or too big for him from stuffing envelopes to speaking on stage. my dad was happy to do it all often until late hours of the night. >> lee's fellow politicians shared stories of his accomplishments and impact on the san francisco community. >> former giants great barry bonn was one of the many people. they shared memories of ed lee including jean quan who recalled their work on housing. >> he would grumble, people think that he doesn't understand

contained. fire crews from fairfield are among the 8,000 on the front lines of the thomas fire. post this had video showing you what they're up against. firefighters played a big role in battling the north bay wildfires in october. a firefighter who died battling the thomas fire was laid to rest. an autopsy found cory iverson died thursday from burns and smoke inhalation. iverson was stationed in san diego. he leaves behind a pregnant wife and young daughter. police are searching for the people who fired flares at several homes. when you see the video you're going to watch as that flare comes out of the car. police say what you see being fired there is the flame and they have reports of at least five homes hit between 10:00 saturday night and 1:00 yesterday morning.

reporting live, matt keller, abc news. vote on the massive republican tax reform bill. republicans are confident they have the votes to send the bill to the president's desk before christmas. it slashes the tax rate from 35% to 21%, a win for big business. for middle-class americans the plan doubles the standard deduction but caps combined deduction but caps combined state and local at $10,000. >> millions will see their taxes go up even though republicans promised that would not happen. >> i'm confident we'll pass the bill probably on tuesday. >> arizona senator john mccain
