the department said that the man was a 9-year veteran and shot himself after being pulled over by a richmond police officer. richmond police say he was wanted in san francisco and his name is not being released, but the license plate of his car is registered to an officer with the san francisco police department. >> a suspected robber was shot by a security guard in a walgreen's tonight. the shooting happened just before 8:30 at the walgreen's at first and santa clara clara the injuries are life threatening. >> and a chp helicopter was assisting police on a side show on a saturday night when more than one person shined green lasers at their helicopter and cars during the side show. that obviously can temporarily blind a pilot and driver. anyone arrested will face state

and federal charges for the crime. in an effort to stop freeway shootings, cameras will cover interstate 80 and highway 4. we have more on the project. >> surveillance cameras will soon be installed along stretches of interstate 80 and highway 4. >> we want people to know there's cameras on the freeways. >> reporter: it's in response to deadly freeway shootings. >> the individuals in the gangs, devia don't want to do the shootings on city streets? why? because we have had cameras on the streets since 2005. >> reporter: they voted unanimously for this to be the hub. you can see the program in place already. the data collection will come from shot spotters cameras and license plate readers. >> we will have eyes on the freeway in real time.

officer accused of fires his gun in a san francisco hotel may have suffered a mental health episode according to his attorney. phil sanctihez is out of jail o bond. he surrendered to police two hours later. no one was hurt. >> four teens arrested in connection with a number of flare gun attacks that happened over the weekend. had home security cameras show bright flashes from flares that were fired at seven homes and several cars. police say the most extensive damage was shattered windows. three of the four teens lived in san ramon. >> all right, let's move on. if you are done with your holiday shopping, us could be time for holiday shipping. the postal service expects to handle 400 million packages in the two weeks before christmas and today is the busiest of the weeks. we have more now from san jose. >> my mother, in arizona, son in
