facebook posts about terror attacks, including the one in new york city that left eight people dead. >> abc news reporter melanie woodrow is live with this developing story. >> reporter: according to these documents, everitt jameson had offered his services as a tow truck driver to help, quote, support the cause. this is where he had been working at anderson's towing since august. we talked to his boss a short time ago. also, two days ago investigators executed a search warrant and a modesto home where they say they turned up guns, ammunition, a letter that he wrote including the words, i have committed these acts, and his will. this is the man federal investigators say was planning a terror attack on san francisco's pier 39. a location he said he chose because he had been there before and knew it was a heavily crowded area. his father says, he is shocked.

>> something like this is just unreal. >> according to a criminal complaint, jameson had radical jihadi beliefs and social media that supported terrorism. he told an employee that he planned to make an attack. he said he could do it december 18 through 25th and. christmas was the perfect day. he also offered his services as truck driver to support the cause. jameson has worked here at anderson tow go since august 21st. >> this brings the terrorism stuff way too close to hole. >> reporter: the manager said they're cooperating with the fbi in every way possible. his repacks jameson may have intended to use the trucks here as part of planned terror attack -- >> very disturbed. >> reporter: according to the complaint, jameson was discharged from the marine corps for fraudulent enlistment

because he hadn't disclose that had he had asthma. he was trained in both the m-16 and ak-47. after an fbi accidentally called him and hung up, the next time an undercover agent spoke to him, he said he had reconsidered. still, when law enforcement officials execute a search warrant, they seize ad letter he with the words, you have all brought this upon yourselves. with his last will and testament and firearms and ammunition. and during the interview, his father suggested that perhaps he had changed after his children were adopted. we've learned his estranged wife has had some run-ins with the law. jameson was in court today. if convicted, he faces a maximum 20 years in prison. >> as you mentioned, did he make a court appearance today.

federal court in fresno, although formal charges have been filed. his attorney said that he has denied the allegations in the criminal complaint. >> he denied the allegations. >> he pled not guilty, right? >> there is no charge. >> he said he expects formal charges will be filed january 5th. he said jameson will plead not guilty. if justice department said if convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. >> the suspect was in the cabrera sunday night. he was attending the raiders/cowboys game with his father. >> according to the fbi, the public was never in any imminent danger from jameson despite his desire to commit the act on christmas today. >> live from pier 39 with that part of the story. >> for many people, no trip to san francisco is complete without visiting pier 39.
