out information on a stabbing last week. there is man police are searching for. investigators say the man stabbed a 61-year-old man in the neck inside lola's restaurant on december 21st. he is described as maybe 30 to 40 years of age before the 5'6" and weighs roughly 160 to 180 pounds. police say he may have a tattoo of the grim reaper similar to the one here on his forearms and he may work in landscaping. out to the east bay. oakland police are investigating a hit and run accident that left a baby and one other personal injury. this was taken at the scene. the accident happened before 1:00 p.m. this afternoon. it is unknown how this accident happened but oakland police investigating how multiple bicycles on the road caused the crash. two cars were involved but one

left the scene. >> the san francisco department of emergency management wants visitors and residents to be vigilant this new years eve. melanie is live for us along the embarcadero where thousands are expected to enjoy new years eve fireworks. >> reporter: the best news is there is no credible threat right now but there are meaningful steps you can do to keep yourself safe. thousands of people will gather along the embarcadero to watch the fireworks. according to the threat assessment report, the fbi and department of homeland security have no information to indicate a specific credible threat. still, law enforcement officials have plans in place to ensure everyone's safety. that includes stepped up patrols. >> it is all hands on deck. people's discretionary timeoff has been canceled.

golden gate autobahn society held its the bird count today. volunteers documented feathered wildlife. once the count is complete, it can clue in scientists to possible changes in the ecosystem. >> if the numbers are going down, it tells you there's some problem in their nesting habitat in the summer or where they winter. so it gives you a good indication of the general ecosystem health. they're like the canaries of the coal mine. they give you an indication of how things are doing. >> 120 volunteers took part in today's count. the final tally will be available in about two weeks. the peninsula humane society

had their hands full rescuing 83 bats that had made their in menlo park. er they had attached to a house. the mexican bats started falling to the ground. the humane society scooped they will back and brought them back for evaluation. it was the most bats they've ever received at any one time. >> we on average receive about one to two bats a month. to have 83 bats come in at one time is remarkable for us. >> they said the bats responded well to treatment and were released yesterday at dusk. >> after a mystery killed starfish, they're making their way back to the coast. they are rebounding and have been spotted in southern california. marine biologists noticed from 2013 to 2014, some would get swk

their limbs falling off. in some locations, nearly all of them died off when they disintegrated. the cause of the disease is unclear but researchers say it may have been a virus. hurricane damage on the coral reefs. researchers from cal state northridge and the university of buffalo say the storms generated huge waves, effectively sand blasting the reefs. now they are broken and chipped. damage that could last for generations. corals are home to many algae which give them the bright colors and they're critical to the ecosystem. looking ahead, bad haircuts. those are not a crime. >> but what one
