breaking news tonight in mountain view where a commuter with us belonging to a tech

company struck an killed a motorcyclist. now this crash happened during the evening commute. it is at the intersection of shoreline boulevard and plymouth. >> from what we know the streets are still closed tonight. we are joined live from the scene and loni, tell us what you have learned about the investigation so far? >> yes, you can see yellow tape still blocking this intersection this evening. traffic is still being rerouted around here. this fatal crash happened near the google office buildings. witnesses tell us several people rushed over to help the motorcyclist involved in this but he was unresponsive. >> i don't know if he was alive or really what had happened. i immediately called the 11, told them what i had seen. >> guzman was turning left on plymouth street behind this white bus when she realized a of trach accident just happened. >> people started swarming over

to him to try to assist him, try to move him. when they moved him, it looked as if it was fatal accident. >> mountain view police confirm a mail motorcyclist died in the crash with the white bus at the shoreline and plymouth intersection. traffic investigators closed the streets to traffic as they gathered information. >> when i got out of my car, there was a piece of the motorcycle, make like the fender, it was all over the road. >> the license plate of the bus is registered to a commuter bus company. the bus is unmarked but the crash happened near the google campus. police haven't said if the bus had passengers on board but a google spokeswoman issued a statement saying we are saddened to learn of this tragic incident. our thoughts are with all those affected by this tragedy. mountain view police say they hope to open this intersection by late this evening before tomorrow morning's commute. there's no clue about what direction both vehicles were

going and as for that victim, driving the motorcycle, they have not released his name. live in mountain view, lonni rivera, abc 7 news. >> much appreciated, lonni, thank you. we have more breaking news from the south bay. this time san jose police are investigating a deadly shooting on vanwinkle lane which is just off story road. here is some new video just into the abc 7 newsroom in the last 15 minutes. few details are available but we do know the victim is a man and the shooting happened just before 9:00 p.m. no arrests have been made and police do not have any suspects right now. >> we have learned a memorial service for fallen chp officer will take place this weekend. saturday at 8:30 in the morning at christian life center in stock top. members of the public are invited to attend once officer's camilleri family and fellow felw

officers have been seated. this is a bell toll tribute ceremony for him. camilleri died christmas eve when a driver plowed into his patrol car on interstate 880. his partner survived. he was overcome during today's ceremony, as you can see. the person who hit the suv was drunk and high at same time. he is identified as a 22-year-old hayward man and at last check remains hospitalized. the chp established a fund for people who want to help the officer's family. we have a link on our website, abc7news.com. >> officer camilerri's recognized who as maumarijuana

become legal next week. driving under the influence applies to drugs as well, not just alcohol. nothing changes with the law come january 1. >> just like drunk driving, driving under the influence of any impairing substance is not only dangerous, it is a crime snpz meantime, chp has been gearing up as well. most of its officers have specialized training to determine when a driver is under the influence of drugs, incruding marijuana. >> new tonight, abc 7 news confirmed santa rosa police made an arrest in a violent stabbing. police say this man captured on surveillance video last week is in custody. he stabbed a 61-year-old man in the neck inside a restaurant. happened on december 21st. details of the capture are still not known. he was taken into custody at about 7:00 tonight. the man who was stabbed is in serious condition. >> to con cord where man is under arrest accused of a violent rampage. police say he tried to run over

man, crashed into a store and attempted to choke a k-9 police dog. abc 7 news was at the farm market today where you could clearly see the aftermath there. things strewn about. all of this happened yesterday. con cord police say davy gopy tried to run someone over but missed and instead crashed through the market. he then ran off. that led to a short police chase. con cord police say he got out of the car, yelled at officer to shoot him and then tried to punch the police officer. he was finally taken into custody. >> a bay area world war ii veteran who survived the infamous batan death march died at age 100. >> he was one of the thousands of filipino troops fighting along side the u.s. army against japan. in 1942 they were forced to surrender then march 65 miles to a prison camp mr. brutal conditions. many did not survive. he managed to escape and was

will see a rerun of this morning probably tomorrow morning. fairfield dropped down to 37 degrees. and i do want to show you highlights now. so look out for areas of dense fog again tomorrow morning. hazy sunshine tomorrow afternoon and it is going to be dry for new year's eve. and new year's day. so if you have any outdoor plans, for the upcoming holidays, you don't have to could use rain in the bay area. a live from our east bay hills camera and visibility from this vantage point, looking good. it's not going to look like that everywhere so i want to show you hour by hour forecast. 5:00 a.m. tomorrow, watch out for fog. it is going to be heavy around the north bay valleys and also out doorts fairfield and vacaville, rio vista, delta. that's where you deal with heavy fog and there will be patches across parts of the bay shoreline as well. at 8:00 a.m. it is still there with the ability of a little misty at times and you may need

wipers and time for the morning commute. if your commute happens to include tomorrow morning. and also fog will linger in parts and the rest of you looking at sunshine. and you need the jacket or sweater, mid to upper 30s in north bay and midland east bay valleys. fairfield dropping to 33 degrees and along the bay and coast and overnight highs look like this. sunshine for you on the peninsula. 61 in redwood city. palo alto, half moon bay. coast side, 59 in san francisco and in the north bay, you're looking at temperatures from 56 of at bodega bay where the fog is lingering. san francisco area, you see fog lift if there is any but 63 in santa rosa. it will be a while before the fog pulls out of santa rosa. heading into the east bay, sunshine upper 50s to low 60s. about where you should be in oakland. inland area, 62 walnut creek.
