arrested for starting a unique delivery service. >> we know amazon's still working ong drone delivery. but this couple figured that out to drop off drugs. rob mcmillan has more. >> reporter: riverside police say they really haven't seen anything like this before. neither have neighbors. >> i heard amazon doing delivery with drones, never heard of drug users using drones. >> reporter: benjamin and ashley face felony drug charges, allegedly using a drone to deal drugs. >> our detectives did go out there and conducted surveillance. which they do a lot of times when they get tips. and sure enough, they saw this drone flying and what appeared to be this drone dropping or leaving some possible narcotics in a parking lot. >> reporter: they're also facing felony child endangerment charges because their 9-year-old daughter was inside the home, along with meth, candies laced with lsd and fentanyl in powder form. >> a lot of the narcotics were found spread throughout the house. a lot of it in one particular room or bedroom that this girl has access to. >> she was afraid. she didn't know what to say.

>> lake-effect snow falling in pennsylvania and new york is coming to an end, that's the good news. but frigid wind chills are set to grip the northeast. and the midwest, plunging to 30 below zero in some places. there goes the forecast. >> in the meantime, the day's long digout continues for areas that got more than 60 inches of snow. you can imagine that will be more challenging with the cold coming in. abc's richard cantu has more. >> it's freezing. i feel like icicles are hitting my face right now. >> reporter: from the northern plains to the midwest and new england. a blast of cold air has temperatures doing a nosedive in many places, highs will barely make it out of the teens or single digits. and the lows expected well below zero. >> i've lived here my whole life and not seen it for a couple of years here. we really got hit this year. >> reporter: oswego, new york under a state of emergency getting a record-shattering 62 inches of snow. in nearby jefferson county, firefighters tunneled their way into this home to rescue a woman trapped inside. and in erie, pennsylvania,

residents dealing with 65 inches plus of powder. in minnesota, the brutal cold turned minnehaha falls into an ice scape. and in wisconsin, the coast guard was out breaking ice in green bay. this plane skidded off a runway in michigan city, indiana. no one was hurt. while conditions on the road this holiday week turned dangerous, the system responsible for fatal accidents in kansas and missouri. and with all the teeth-chattering cold locked in place for days to come some now dreaming of warmer places. >> it's outrageous. hopeless. >> reporter: richard cantu, abc news, new york. >> i finally realized when i went to school at oswego, why at this time of year you don't have classes.

it's so cold. >> it's too cold to set foot outside. let's move to president trump's legal team which is reportedly shifting to a new strategy when it comes to former national security adviser michael flynn. sources tell the "washington post" the president's lawyers plan to attack his credibility and depict him as a liar. he has already pleaded guilty to lying to the fbi. he is cooperating with robert mueller. in the investigation into russian meddling. israel is planning to honor president trump by naming a train station after him. it will be part of a new tunnel running under jerusalem's old city, expanding a high-speed line from tel aviv to the

western wall. it comes after the u.s. changed policy to recognize jerusalem as the capital of israel. the station named after him will be right there at the wall. and many homeowners are rushing to pay their property tax. before the new tax law goes into effect next week. but for many the effort may not pay off. they're lining up in high-tax states in hopes of making the most of the old deductions before they disappear. the new law limits them and caps them at a combined $10,000. >> i'm very upset. i'm upset how it's going to affect the value of our home. >> we've been itemizing for 15 or 20 years. so not being able to do so is going to be extremely challenging. >> the irs has issued a notice warning that the prepaying your taxes strategy will only be beneficial under certain circumstances. your taxes must be assessed this year and you would have to receive a bill in 2017, not just an estimate. and overseas, at least ten people have been injured after an explosion inside a supermarket in st. petersburg russia. russian president putin has just declared it a terror attack. they say the device was rigged with shrapnel to cause more damage and contained the equivalent of 200 grams of tnt. it comes ten days after vladimir putin called president trump to

thank him for a tip that prevented a terror attack in the same city. >> back here at home, a 5-year-old girl and 11-year-old brother are found dead in a basement in new york state. police are calling it an act of savagery. two women ages 22 and 36 were also found in the apartment in a quiet neighborhood outside of albany in troy. the women were in a relationship. no suspects have been named, but police say the family was likely targeted. they're asking anyone with information to come forward. many supermarkets deliver. but a mom to be wound up leaving her own delivery. at her local store. >> that's one way of putting it. she walked into a store in fresno to buy a soda. and you can see she collapses at a table and starts screaming in pain. >> minutes later, her baby was on the way, much to the surprise of the store's owner. >> so then i started like listening to her screaming, so then i came to the -- i was like, what's going on?
