fire in many years. >> four people were critically injured in this fire. city records appear to indicate that as of thursday it had six open violations including one for a defective smoke detector on the first floor. which happens to be the floor where the fire began according to authorities. an ongoing investigation this morning. jessica, thank you. a quick update on weather and traffic starting with drew tuma. good morning. we have some patchy fog on this friday morning and temperatures are chilly in spots. we're at 36 in livermore. half moon bay down to 39. you can see we're anywhere from the low to upper 40s this hour. your 12-hour day planner, after that patchy fog, tons of sunshine. it will be mild. temperatures topping out in the 60s across the board from the coast today and inland. a check of the roads with sue.

>> we're going to the east shore freeway. an earlier accident on the off ramp. that's good news with some debris in lanes. the hilltop on ramp to eastbound 80. it is the on ramp to the reverse commute. chp will be doing a traffic break. here we go. we have b.a.r.t. running on schedule. reduced service because of the holiday. holiday weekend coming up. they will add trains. larkspur ferry this morning. ace train, reduced service, only the 3 and 5 trains leaving out of stockton in a little while. >> sue, thank you. chp is going to receive information on officer andrew camilleri. he and his partner pulled over when their suv was hit from behind by a car. investigators say the suspect was under the influence of both alcohol and drugs. he will be facing several felony charges.

the man suspected of plotting a christmas day terror attack at pier 39 in san francisco will stay in jail. everitt jameson appeared yesterday. the defense argued he should be released under heavy supervision because he back tracked on the attack while speaking with an fbi agent who posed as a member of isis. but the judge decided to keep jameson in custody saying he is a danger to society. his next court date is january 5th. a new look at the night of the oldest and first bridge across the san francisco bay burned down. a fire started january 3rd, 1998, on the dumbarton rail bridge. the menlo park district shared these photos with us of the firefight. rails dropped into the bay. lately there is renewed interest in using the rail route again. today is the last day to pay

your property taxes before the new republican plan launches january 1st. abc 7 news was at the tax collector's office yesterday. workers say lines have been ten times longer than normal. taxpayers are doing what they can now to maximize their deductions. the new tax bill limits deductions to $10,000 for state and local taxes. new this morning the state supreme court may decide to cut pensions for public employees. cases now before the justices address the ballooning costs of pensions and the need to limit them. the state's two largers systems are severely under funded. t they each have two-thirds of the assets they would need to pay the benefits they owe. and on to developing news, "the new york times" published a wide-ranging interview with president trump yesterday. >> and the president spoke with "the times" about the russia investigation, the alabama senate race, and north korea. abc news reporter arlette saenz has more from washington. >> reporter: good morning. president trump had just

finished lunch with his golf partners when he sat for the impromptu interview with "the new york times." the president spoke candidly about roy moore, north korea and the russia investigation. after repeatedly saying this -- >> the entire thing has been a witch-hunt. >> reporter: president trump expects robert mueller will treat him fairly. in an impromptu interview the president says he's not bothered into the investigation of collusion. he insists there's been no collusion, says mueller is going to be fair. but the president warns the russia probe makes the country look very bad as he takes a victory lap over the republican tax plan. >> the country has a big shift we're turning around. >> reporter: the president is taking a swipe at democrats saying we started taxes. we hear bs from the democrats. as bitter cold slams the nrtheast, president trump is once again showing skepticism about climate change.

the president tweeted the country could use a little bit of, quote, good old global warning. arlette saenz, abc news, washington. the trump administration is repealing proposed rules that would have set standards for hydraulic fracking on federal land. new rules were set to go into effect today. it would have required companies to disclose the chemicals they use in fracking. fracking is a process of drilling deep into the earth and using high pressure water to extract oil or natural gas. the oil and gas industries applaud the repeal but environmentalists say this can put people and wildlife at risk. and good morning. time now 4:35 in the morning. we'll take you to the south bay. some chilly temperatures like saratoga. we're at 40 in santa clara. 41 in san jose and morgan hill checking in at 43 degrees. the wider picture, we showed you the entire region. even cooler temperatures as you move inland and the north bay as well.

it's beautiful. showing you early on this morning it's a really quiet morning. some patchy fog. be aware of that if you're out and about early right now. our coldest spots dropping into the 30s right now like napa and livermore. you're in the 30s. 42 in hayward. oakland at 41 degrees. let's go hour by hour, show you the fog mainly to the delta by 7:00 in the morning. the sun gets up here and does a good job at heating our atmosphere so that will dissipate a lot of the fog quickly. by midday we do expect sunny skies. our warmest spots into the 60s once again and that will mean a mild day on the way for your friday. mostly sunny skies in a lot of spots. about 60 in richmond. 62 in san francisco. it is a spare the air day that means you can't burn wood.

the food bank needs to raise $2 million in the next few days to reach its end of year goal. >> abc 7 news was in the neighborhood where food bank staff and volunteers are asking for donations to help 225,000 it helps every year. they raise 25% of its money during the month of december. this year donations are coming up short. >> hunger never takes a break. we know there's about 25% of the people living in our community are wondering where their next meal could be coming from. the holiday season is a really important time for people to celebrate with family and friends and also keep in mind neighbors who are in need and hungry. >> the food bank does prefer cash donations over canned foods because it can turn $1 into two meals. we have a link to donate at abc7news.com. exercise not only helps the body but the mind. the new guidelines come out from the american academy of
