after a bone dry december. you can barely see the toll plaza because of all the rain drops. and looking live, doppler 7, you can see the green and you better get used to it. the rain could stick around the rest of the week. good evening. >> well, you probably noticed the rain tonight, people had to break out of the umbrella umbre >> and a live look in san francisco, where the wet weather caused flight delays. >> yeah, after weeks of waiting. it's finally here. and live doppler 7 is all lit up tonight. we are tracking rain. let's go to street level where we are seeing pockets of moderate rain around fairfield, v vacvville area, and we head in to the east bay, lighter rainfall, concord boulevard and from the san francisco peninsula and all the way to palo alto. you will notice around 280, it's wet out there.

and in the south bay, lighter showers right now. santa clara, and san jose, it was not like that earlier, we had an isolated thunderstorm that passed through and had numerous reports on twitter and facebook of hearing the thunder and seeing the lightning. a current system, level one. and tonight through thursday, light to moderate rain, scattered showers and light wind. live doppler 7 are tracking the next storm that is right here and it's headed our way on our storm impact scale, look at all the level ones and twos. out of the next seven days, we have five days taken with the storm impact scale. a level 2 storm coming your way tuesday. we will talk about it coming up. all right, a lot of green out there. well, amp -- well, abc 7 news was in san had ho, you cannot only see it, but hearer that the rain was coming down hard a couple of hours ago in san jose.

over a gun. shots startled commuters and a nearby b.a.r.t. officer. >> i was inside getting my b.a.r.t. ticket at about and i heard gunshots and a bunch of people running in the station and screaming. >> reporter: witnesses that did not want to go on camera say that two men fought on every a gun at the corner of seventh and chestnut streets. they say a b.a.r.t. officer responded from the west oakland station after shots were fired. >> the b.a.r.t. officer was dressed in full police uniform. disdischarge their firearm. >> the oakland police are investigating because the shooting happened off of b.a.r.t. property. they are not saying who shot who. one man died, and another has serious injuries and the b.a.r.t. officer was unharmed. >> both individuals had gunshot wounds, but we cannot confirm that this was from the discharge of the b.a.r.t. officer's firearm. >> reporter: police recovered a handgun on scene. >> it does not make sense, now

has three others. now, abc 7 news was at the twitter headquarters in san francisco tonight as protesters demanded that they ban president trump's account. the action is in response to the president's tweets last night, criticizing the north korean nuclear program. protesters is said that the ceo is enabling the president and endangering americans. twitter has repeatedly revised the terms of service over the past year regarding violent speech. >> san francisco assemblyman wants to outlaw the sale of gas c cars. >> we make our money off of minivans and trucks and many of the biggest gas guzzlers there are. a cultural change needs to occur. we are trying nudge it along. >> the bill would require that every new car sold in california starting in 2040 would have to

an animal lover took her to the bear league where she got a week of emergency medical care that saved her life. and volunteers drove the cub to a licensed bear facility called the fund for animals wild life center in san diego county. she arrived on christmas eve and eating well from what we hear. the team expects the little bear's fur will grow back and she will be released in to the wild. >> here is something that is not quite right. on the left, you can see snow coming down in charleston, south carolina, they got more than 5 inches and the palm trees are covered. on the right is the first california snow-pack survey of the year. officials say the after depth of snow, is just 1.3 inches. that is just 3% of the average amount. so, not enough snow here, and it's snowing in the deep south in charleston, south carolina.

strange. >> mother nature is confused this season. >> that's right. let's talk about rain around here. >> and in the forecast for a bit? >> yeah, that is right, it's great to see the rain after weeks of no rain in december. january is one of the wet estimate months and -- one of the wettest months, so far, we are off the o a good start. we are seeing rain, and you will notice the intensity is light to moderate as we go in to street level radar. around pleasanton, and west ruby hill drive, around caster valley and you are seeing lighter rain around oakland, piedmonte and it was coming down good earlier tont in the east bay. red wood city, woodside area. seeing scattered light showers and moderate in intensity is morgan hill, gilroy, cochrane road, seeing the rainfall. the rainfall totals have been interesting. look at the south bay in the

peninsula, 3/4 of an inch in san jose. and concord picking up .43 and oakland, .6 of rain. tipped in favor of parts of the eat bay, the peninsula and the south bay. tonight through tomorrow, level one system. and tomorrow, more showery, you will see sun breaks. visibility though tonight is poor. we have not only the rain but the fog as well down to one mile in concord. about 2-1/2 miles in mountain view and santa rosa. so, be careful in the morning. we will have the low visibility again. temperatures in the 50s tonight as we take a look at a live picture from our emeryville camera. this is what you will encounter from tonight's rain and tomorrow morning's showers. slippery road ways. next storm arrives on friday and a dry pattern setting up for the weekend. our next system will be on friday. it's a light level one system. breezy at times and highest totals will be in the north bay. hour by hour we go.

tomorrow morning's commute, around 5:00 a.m. you will notice, 7:00 a.m. in the general vicinity at 8:00 a.m. and as we head in to the afternoon hours. those showers that were primarily focused in the north bay will start to be more scattered and in other areas for the evening commute, 5-7 p.m. and it will continue until friday morning when the next storm comes in. that will bring another round of rain, and it will carry over to scattered showers friday night. rainfall totals taking you through friday night will look like this. anywhere from about a tenth to .15 of an inch in the dry estimate spots all the way to .75 of an inch lt. and so, we will see more rain in in the north bay next time around. temperatures tomorrow morning, mid 40s to low 50s and take your umbrella, you will see scattered showers and you will need the shades tomorrow afternoon. looking a a mix of sun and
