in accidents on the streets, pedestrians to drivers. strategy to eliminate all fatalities is vision zero. san francisco is one of 33 cities nationwide taking the lead for safer streets. lyanne melendez has more. >> when 34 people were killed in traffic accidents in 2013, san francisco knew it had to do something. enter vision zero, a strategy to reduce fatalities on our streets. >> we're not just going to accept that people are going to die trying to get around san francisco. every one of those is preventable. >> reporter: the city has been busy resigning streets, restriping crosswalks, painting red zones at corners so there's a better sight line between driver and pedestrian. strategy is paying off. 2017, 20 fatalities in san francisco, down 41% from
