bay and east bait from now up until 8:00 and that's going to leave more standing water for the commute. in fact, here is a look at the next six hours, you can see some yellows rotate through the south bay and also the east bay, but after 8:00 notice the yellows it go away and that's when we will downgrade the storm to a 1 because we will have a chance of isolated showers through noon and then at 4:00 that chance will fade. as i wrap up my accuweather 12-hour planner at 7:00, clouds will open up, a little fog will start forming. let's talk about the streets and what to expect. standing water is what to expect and some pretty good hydroplaning. we have a fog advisory for the center of the bay bridge, the toll plaza is clear here as are lanes getting into san francisco but the roads are wet. let's take a look overall, we have green, this blue on your map means the potential for standing water and obviously it's been raining all night so you can expect that. we have a problem with a large pothole westbound 580 near north flynn, a couple cars hit it and on the right hand shoulder they

are out of lanes. sensors are green through the area, i'm not seeing any slowing, but if that large pothole gets any bigger or poses problems it will cause slowing over the altamonte pass. right now about a 25 minute drive from tracy into dublin pleasanton. we will check back with a bridge closure that will happen overnight tonight in just a few minutes. potholes are an issue. happening right now on the peninsula, good news, traffic is moving once again after a pothole problem there forced caltrans to shut down two lanes of northbound highway 101 in palo alto yesterday afternoon. this was just north of embarcadero road. crews worked through the night to try to fix the potholes. chp was warning repairs could take until 6:00 this morning, but it is now open. caltrans crews have been busy repairing potholes on northbound i-880 in oakland. some were ripping apart drivers tires. crews had to close one lane to fill in the potholes but now it is back open. we are seeing flooding and

4:44 am
>> reporter: north korea has agreed to send their athletes, officials and cheerleaders to the olympic games. north korea's top delegate called the cooperation a new year's gift to the korean people, a sentiment echoed by south korea's reunification minister. after a year of worrisome missile tests and escalating rhetoric between kim jong-un and president trump, the positive steps towards olympic cooperation is being heralded as a symbolic step. >> overall the reaction is full of optimism, the north showing strong determination to make this work out. say they hope this opportunity could lead to a ground breaking momentum towards peace on the korean peninsula. >> reporter: even president trump who had begun the new year by taunting north korea's leader writing that his nuclear button is a much bigger and more powerful one from kim has expressed cautious optimism.
4:45 am
>> if something can happen and something could come out of those talks that would be a grit thing for all of munity. >> reporter: but the talks have not resolved any of the north's nuclear issues and when the issue of denuclearization was raised by south korean delegates it was not acknowledged. among the issues expected to be discussed today include the possibility of family reunification visits as well as the logistics of the north's participation in the olympics. and although economic and military concerns may not be actively discussed today they certainly are on the fore front of everyone's minds. lana zak, abc news, washington. the google employee fired after what many saw was a sexist memo saying women are unrepresented in tech because of biological reasons is now suing the company. >> in a class action suit filed with another engineer james damore claims that google has an open hostility for conservative thought and accuses it of engaging in illegal hiring practices favoring women and

4:47 am
there were nearly 31,000 car burglaries last year. that's a 24% jump from the year before. we need to get back to weather because as you hit the roads today you will notice, yes, it is slick, but, mike, the bulk has already passed. >> exactly. we will be down grading the storm from a 2 to a 1 after the 8:00 hour for some scattered showers this afternoon. here is a look at the western span of the bay bridge from the south beach where if you go a little bit farther to the east there was a little patch of fog, it was really eerie driving through that this morning, it looks like the mist machines on the side lyons of football or at various parks to keep you cool. it was kind of misty and visibility was dropping rapidly. rain to showers today, it will be breezy this afternoon, more so than yesterday afternoon but no wind advisories and no flood watches. clouds open and where they do tonight dense fog will form especially up in the north bay. it will be a dry and warm weekend. a look at our high temperatures
4:48 am
today, closer to average, 60 in fairfield and santa cruz and san jose the warmest, most around 57 to 59 degrees. tonight you can see the fog thickest in the central valley, some of that will spread into our neighborhoods as you head up into the north bay. significantly cooler tomorrow, low to upper 40s, even a 51 in san francisco. so here is a look at some of that rain that's going to keep backing its way up into the south bay, especially the eastern side, and right now we don't have any issues with our airports, it's not ranging at sfo with the cloud cover we will probably have some flight and arrival delays. as soon as i know i will let you know. follow me on twitter or facebook @mike nicco abc 7. mostly cloudy tomorrow and increasing sunshine in my accuweather seven-day forecast and temperatures that will hit the low to mid 60s by sunday. we will take an hour by hour look at the rest of today's wet weather next. here is sue. we are going near the mcarthur maze. the chp is reporting an accident
4:49 am

4:56 am
through the afternoon hours up until 4:00 and then as we go through the evening commute things start to clear out a little bit, but once those clouds open up, wait for the fog to form tomorrow and i'm watching this storm right here, that's going to clip the north bay with a slight chance of scattered showers tomorrow, for the rest of us hopefully this is the last go around today. we're checking in with the bay bridge toll plaza where traffic is light right now and looks like the rain has tapered off. we did have a fog advisory on the mid span. heads up with that. high beams not recommended in the fog. no delays here, no metering lights yet. we will check back in a few minutes. i thought we would check on mass transit. bart has 36 trains running on time, no problem with sam trans and ace train number 1 left stockton on time and headed into tracy now. no problems getting out of the central valley. our traffic map is starting to show a little less green, it's moving towards the east, that means rain for your commute but slow traffic as you can see out of tracy, that's about the only
