in vallejo coming up. sue, thank you. we are tracking the close call at sfo. an aeromexico plane was about to land on the wrong way on a runway. >> this comes six months after a near mishap with air canada. matt keller? >> reporter: good morning. another close call here at sfo. an aeromexico plane was cleared to land but about a mile out an air traffic controller spotted trouble. >> aeromexico 668, go around. >> aeromexico 668, going around. >> reporter: aeromexico 668 had lined up on the wrong runway. instead of 2a right was heading 2a left. on it was a virgin american flight filled with passengers. the faa says the pilots were using a guidance system in poor weather. they will be interviewed as part of the investigation. >> this is a human error and we have humans in the cockpit so we are prone to this sort of thing.

what is important is to understand how many backup systems and here the backup systems worked. >> reporter: this is the second close call at sfo. in july an air canada flight mistook a crowded taxiway for 2a right. the plane flew as low as 59 feet before the pilot aborted the landing. the airline has yet to respond to our request for a comment. reporting live at sfo, matt keller, abc 7 news. this morning the search for survivors continues in santa barbara county following tuesday's dangerous flooding and mud flows in burn areas. the death toll has gone up to 17. and there's at least 17 others still missing. one of the hardest hit areas was montecito. and this morning the "los angeles times" reporting county officials decided not to send an emergency alert to cell phones warning of those mud slides until after the flooding had already started.

6:0. it appears a large number of santa clara voters want a controversial judge out. >> this is the campaign to recall judge aaron perskey, that they've collected the 100,000 signatures needed to put the recall on the june ballot. a campaign is expected to turn in those signatures today. he gave former stanford swimmer brock turner a six-month jail sentence for sexually assaulting an intoxicated unconscious woman outside of a campus frat party. turner is appealing his conviction. good thursday morning to you. a lot of moisture left over from recent rains, extensive cloud cover and temperatures are about the same as a dew point. petaluma, napa, just a mile at concord and we have four miles. the temperatures are milder, mid and upper 40s.

just in to our live desk this morning, parents, listen up, a warning about a disturbing hack targeting our kids with pornography and it's called adull swine, a code hiding in 70 popular children's game apps on google's play store. it displays ads with pornographic content and scares users into installing fake security apps. can also get users to send premium text messages at your expense. they have been downloaded between 3 million and 11 million times. unfortunately, there is no way to know if an app your kids

download is infected but you can download a mobile security or anti-malware app. >> a lot of parents will want to know about that. new developments involving logan paul. youtube taking steps to discipline paul for posting a disturbing video. >> limiting his earning power for showing a video of an alleged suicide victim in japan last month. paul has since apologized saying he's ashamed of his actions. the 22-year-old has been removed from youtube preferred, that connects top channels with brand advertisers. they are holding off on plans with a movie on paul. he is still on youtube. hasn't been pulled. state regulators expected to decide whether to close diablo canyon, california's last nuclear plant. the public utilities commission is expected to vote to shut down the nuclear plant when a pair of federal operating licenses

esplanade avenue is coming down. amy hollyfield is live there. amy? >> reporter: here since the house. the demolition crew will take it down in about half an hour. you can see just how close it is to the edge, the backyard and the back patio are gone. they have fallen into the ocean and the city fears the house will be next. in a purchase agreement the city of pacifica took over ownership and will demolish it today. former homeowners say they'll be he here. >> it was my dream home. every spare minute, every vacation, every day off, every spare dime, nickel and penny. we loved it. we love doing it. it was something we did together. >> reporter: the couple says this is their favorite place on earth.

they bought the house in 2009. they worked hard to save it. they hired an engineer to move the house 30 feet back from the cliff. they were wanting to relocate it but never found a suitable lot. so today it will be demolished and they say they will be here to watch it come down and to say good-bye. reporting live amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. now the effort to expand rent control across the state discussing repealing a law that prevents cities from imposing rent control on housing built after 1995. the bill was introduced last year, but it was put on hold because of strong opposition from landlords. a couple who purchased a private street is suing to get it back. michael chang and his wife filed a suit claiming the board of supervisors went beyond its authority when it overturned the

sale of presidio terrace. they purchased the street for $90,000 in 2015 at a tax auction. the sale came after the homeowners association failed to pay $994 in back taxes. more people are sick from e. coli linked to romaine lettuce. >> infections have killed two people including one here in california. dozens more across the country and canada have gotten sick. consumer reports is advising people stay away from romaine people stay away from romaine altogether. >> we think it's important to refrain from eating romaine lettuce. >> washing e. coli tainted fruits and vegetables will not remove the harmful bacteria. a fifth person has died from the flu in santa clara county.

>> the number of flu cases has spiked since the beginning of the year. it's been a particularly rough season in california. statewide at least 29 people under the age of 65 have died as a result of the flu. that's around three times higher compared to this same time last year. >> governor brown plans to ask the trump administration to block the expansion of offshore oil drilling in california like he's already done in florida. a plan revealed included six new leases for drilling platforms off california's coast. florida received an exemption tuesday after its governor complained about possible environmental damage. dark. they say that they shot and robbed a man. the victim is recovering from wounds to the leg after being attacked on vine street near bonita avenue on december 5th. both robbers wore dark colored hooded sweatshirts and drove what appeared to be a white chevy impala. girls may have delays in language development if their mothers take acetaminophen during pregnancy. >> so often recommended to women as safe. it is the ingredient in drugs like tylenol and nyquil. 750 women were tested for levels during pregnancy. researchers evaluated language abilities at 2 1/2 years old and found girls had higher rates of language delays. similar delays were not seen in boys but they develop language skills more slowly. new this morning, walmart says it is boosting its minimum wage to $11 an hour.
