through the morning commute. 44 to about 51. it's pretty mild out there. as you look at your temperatures at noon, hovering around 60. may be a little bit of sunshine. that would be the extent of it today. then at 4:00, 57 to 62 with cloudy conditions. then showers move into the north bay at 7:00. we'll have more on that coming up. first a look at that morning commute. what are you watching, sue? >> the bainbridge toll plaza is not shrouded in fog. we have a fog advisory around the area. the altamont pass and the bay bridge. just a backup for the cash-paying folks in the right lane. under 30 minutes from hercules to san francisco. we have a traffic alert. a full freeway closure at 4:45 this morning. chp decided that it would be about two more hours until they can reopen this. police activity is the culprit. it's south 280 at alemany. a sigalert is in effect. there is a detour in place. i would avoid this if you can. take 101.

we will check with jess now with a live update. >> now breaking news from the live desk. >> yes, sue we want to get more of that breaking news. shutting down southbound 280. in fact, abc 7 news reporter tiffany wilson just arrived there on scene. tiffany, what can you tell us? >> reporter: hi, jessica. if you look behind me, you can see cars are starting to stack up here. a road crew went by putting down the cones. this all started when the san francisco police department called the chp saying that they had received word from some victims that they had been shot, at 280 south and alemany boulevard. it was at 3:23 this morning that chp started their investigation of that shooting here at 280. now, we just spoke to a chp spokesperson about those victims. take a listen to what he had to say. >> there were several victims, anywhere between three to six.

>> all in one car? >> at this time we unfortunately, don't know. we're just investigating and collecting evidence and making the proper arrangements to get this investigated properly. >> reporter: now, the chp is here on scene. they are looking for that evidence. the entire highway is shut down. they are redirecting traffic off of alemany boulevard. they are allowing it to get back on 280 about a mile or so south. those victims, anywhere between three and six individuals, drove themselves to the hospital this morning. no word on their conditions at this point. again, there is no word on the possible suspect or shooters involved in this incident. but if you are driving south on 280, you can expect this detour for at least the next two hours. fortunately, traffic is light given that this is a holiday monday. live in san francisco, tiffany wilson, abc 7 news. >> tiffany, thank you. 5:03 now. we're hearing from a

d.r.e.a.m.er just released from border custody. he's a student at uc san diego. he came from israel as a child under daca. now, he and his roommate mistakenly crossed into mexico in otay mesa. when he tried to re-enter the country, border agents took him into custody for five days and he thought the worst. >> you know, i got so far. i got to ucsd, great school, math, computer science, great subject to study. i really felt like i've been robbed of something. >> he was released on friday. the immigration debate is heating up in washington and in the courts. the federal government is once again taking daca renewal applications. that comes after a federal judge in san francisco ordered the trump administration to resume the program. abc 7 news reporter carlos saw said owe explains what this means. >> the past few months have been

uncertain times for many, including this man. >> it's definitely very, very exhausting. >> he was brought to the u.s. from mexico when he was ten. having graduated from uc berkeley in 2016, he's one of 800,000 covered under the daca program started by president obama. last year, the trump administration announced it would be ending the program. >> one of the biggest fears i have, i'm going to see some of my friends be persecuted. >> on tuesday, a federal judge in san francisco ordered the administration to resume daca. they've complied. as of last night, the federal government once again began accepting renewal requests for those looking for protection from deportation. there is a bigger fight mounting in washington. negotiations over a comprehensive immigration bill fell apart this past week. president trump tweeted daca is probably dead because the democrats don't really want it. they just want to talk and take desperately needed money away from our military. south bay congressman row kana

to reroute to dulles international. landed about 10:00 at night. i want to show you where it is right now. it is over the atlantic. flight officials did not specify what the medical issue was. the faa is investigating, but you can see that flight finally on the way to europe. it's expected to land at 7:00 this morning after an 11-hour delay. >> hopefully everyone is okay. jessica, thank you. the nation honors the birth of martin luther king, jr. in the bay area, that means the celebration train is ready to roll. >> cal trans celebration train leaves at 9:45 this morning. it arrives in san francisco at 4th and townsend around 11:00. passengers will participate in a march near the gardens where there is an arts and music festival to honor dr. king. for other events, you can visit abc 7 news.com.

upper 50s through 4:00. mid-50s from 6:00 to 8:00 with a stray shower. 43 this morning in the north bay. showers develop with 56. 57 at 4:00. stray showers more numerous at 6:00 and 8:00. mid-50s there. this is after temperatures in the upper 50s, low 60s in most neighborhoods. palo alto, morgan hill and santa cruz in the 60s. you can see the green out there tonight. temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s. when i come back, we're going to talk about this 1 on the storm impact scale. it's a light scale but it will bring light to moderate rain and mess up a commute. >> speaking of messed up commutes, it is a light holiday morning but we have a full freeway closure. this is a live shot of 280 southbound at alemany boulevard. this was an overnight shooting apparently and police are on scene doing an investigation. at about 4:45 this morning, they estimated two more hours. that gives us about an hour and a half still to go. you can see the orange.

that's fog that will be affecting your drive. we'll talk about that in a second. southbound 280 on the maps. the purple means full freeway closure and a sigalert in effect. we do have, due to this fog, an accident with an overturned vehicle. southbound 680 near marshview. vehicle is off the roadway. emergency crews may have to block a lane to get it out of there once again it is overturned. we'll be back in a few with a look at the mass transit for the mlk day coming up. a north bay supervisor questioning a plan to put a bike lane on the richmond san rafael bridge. it would create a bike lane on the upper deck. according to the supervisor damon connolly thinks space should be used for considers. bikes should only be allowed during nonpeak hours and weekends when traffic is slower. transportation officials will discuss accommodating both cars and bikes. we have new developments about mark wahlbergs to donate his million dollar film fee

here's more. >> reporter: in this morning's gma first look, dramatic video off the coast of florida shows a shuttle boat engulfed in flames forcing passengers to jump into the port richie canal and swim to safety. it was headed to a casino boat in international waters three miles away when the captain noticed smoke from the engine room. witnesses described panic as the boat crumbled in the fire. >> it happened so fast. i can only imagine the fear they had. there was people jumping because it engulfed in a matter of four minutes. the whole boat was gone, like in flames. >> passengers abandoned ship 100 feet from the shore jumping into that ocean water, which in 43-degree weather is cold enough to cause hypothermia. we'll have the latest at 7:00 a.m. i'm diane ma said owe, abc news new york. new at 5:00 a.m., we just

got these pictures from police of an alleged armed gunman. look at this. they're looking for this person at this very minute. the suspect reportedly robbed a 7-eleven near pleasant hill and bodega. happened about 1:30 this morning. police say the suspect walked into the convenience store, pointed the gun at the clerk and then took cash and other items. then took off. he was last seen wearing a green sweatshirt. in fact, they think it was some sort of camouflage print. he was wearing gray sweatpants and a black full-faced mask that you see in in picture. if you know anything, call police. >> you cannot see anything. >> really obscuring it. martin luther king would have been 89 years old. >> there are events to honor him today. the east county branch of the naacp hosting a prayer breakfast at the martin luther king, jr. junior high school in pittsburg. >> it starts at 8:00 a.m. and

we have a stagnant air mass. it's kind of compressed because of high pressure pushing down on it. it is a spare the air day. the air will be cleaner. the showers will taper heading towards tomorrow morning. we'll have several live rains coming through the extended. here's a look at the gray clouds increasing. not much green anywhere right now. in fact, even as we head through 9:00, it's mainly foggy and cloudy. there may be a little bit of a thinning in the cloud cover as you can see by noon. a few stray showers up around mendocino county. towards 4:00, a few stray showers up in the north bay. 7:00, a stray shower about anywhere except the south bay and inland east bay. heading into the overnight hours, you can see this. by 2:00 in the morning, that's your moderate rate. the yellows and oranges. it becomes lighter as it heads to the heart of the bay at 4:00. it will exit the south bay by 9:00. let's talk about our commutes. during the evening commute, everybody looks pretty dry

jeff has a live update now. >> announcer: now breaking news from the live desk. >> here at the live desk, we want to get to the breaking news shutting down 280. let's check in with reporter tiffany wilson. she is on scene for us this morning. tiffany? >> reporter: good morning, jessica. some of the flares have burned out behind me. but you can see all of the cones that are lined up along 280 directing all vehicles off at alemany boulevard. chp has the freeway shut down for a shooting investigation. this started shortly after 3:00 a.m. when chp received a call from the san francisco police department reporting that several victims had driven themselves to the hospital and said they were shot at 280 south and alemany boulevard. chp says there are anywhere from three to six shooting victims. officers are still investigating if the victims were in one or more cars. >> unfortunately, at this time i don't have that information regarding as to where they shot, if it was car to car or just a

the side of highway 101 in san francisco is in custody this morning. officers saved his life with the help of good samaritans. >> a helicopter landed in the northbound lanes to help the officer on the ground. this started just before 5:00 p.m. last night when drivers callbout a barefoot man running across the freeway. when an officer approached him, the man tried to jump over the side about 30 feet above the ground. >> the traffic stopped. i just dropped down and tried to go over and help. and he climbed back over and they detained him once that happened. it's like, you know, was crazy, man. crazy. >> that man now undergoing a mental health evaluation. search teams will try again today to recover the body of a south bay high school tennis coach from a lake. tyler knee and a skydiving instructor fell into a lake in new zealand last wednesday. this video is from the new

vulgar comments. >> according to fortune magazine, they're launching a $100,000 digital campaign to promote countries. they shared photos of destinations in those countries. it wants to encourage more travelers to visit these special and beautiful places. meanwhile an agreement costing air bnb thousands of hosts. they have until tomorrow to do so or be kicked off the site. an estimated 6,000 hosts failed to register as of last thursday. air bnb and other sites reached an agreement last may. san francisco wants hosts to be permanent residents and it's designed to prevent landlords from turning homes into full-time hotels. the fcc is slamming the government in hawaii for that false alarm about a missile attack calling it absolutely unacceptable. the agency says hawaii did not have safeguards in place to prevent the transmission of a false alert. the employee who pushed the

it is a mandatory detour. it exits off of alemany and put you back on southbound 680 -- pardon me, southbound 280 about a mile down the road. avoid that if you can. it is pretty much holiday-like with martin luther king, jr. day. back to the bay bridge toll plaza. look at that. not a problem here. you do have fog advisory for around the altamont pass and very indonesia bridge. we'll check on that next. this next story making international headlines. as many as 47 people hurt after the floor of the jakarta stock exchange simply collapsed. i want to show you video of the moment it happened. take a close look here. witnesses say they felt a tremor before that second-floor mezzanine gave way. police in indonesia ruled out the possibility it was a bomb that caused the floor to cave in. meanwhile, a group of college students were among those on the

photographer after she told him she had an uncomfortable sexual encounter with him at his apartment. she claims he was aggressive towards her. the woman texted him the day after to let him know she was upset with his behavior that night. the woman came forward after she saw ansari wearing a time's up pin at the golden globe awards last week. jessica, thank you. it's 5:44 now. a community meeting is set for tomorrow for those left homeless by the mudslides. thousands attend aid vigil last night. the death toll climbed to 20 yesterday after they found the body of a 30-year-old man. his 6-year-old son and his father-in-law died in the mudslides. the man's 2-year-old daughter is among the four people still missing. authorities say it may be weeks before a stretch of highway 101 in montecito reopens. about 77,000 cars a day use that roadway. significant progress on cleanup and recovery following the october wildfires. state officials tell the press

photography, memorabilia and artifacts. it spans the first negro league and the african-american players who challenged the baseball establishment in the '60s and '70s. when you see this, doesn't it look out of a fast and furious movie. this is real life. a car stuck in the second story of a building. this happened early yesterday morning in the orange county community of santa ana. a car hit the center median on a street, flew into the air and slammed into a dentist's office. you're going to see the video that proves that's how it happened. did you see this? launches straight up. witnesses say the driver was speeding. you can see that it barely missed hitting another vehicle. that accident started a fire. now, a witness says the driver got out and was hanging from the side of the building. a man pumping gas nearby heard it happen. >> i heard a big boom. and it hit that -- hit there and it got launched.

today. the light showers will move in tonight in the north bay. they may be moderate when they get there and move into the south bay by this time tomorrow morning. several weak storms will follow that for the rest of the week. for highs today, we'll start in the south bay. you have the best chance of seeing any sunshine breakthrough the shroud deck. you're in the mid-60s and the rest of us 58 to 62 degrees. as far as the morning lows tomorrow, they'll be around 47 to 53. pretty mild. but you can see it's going to be rain for tomorrow's morning commute. here's a look at the energy as it heads ahead our way. this is going to bring us light rain amounts as the energy heads up more towards the pacific northwest. let's go through an hour by hour. by 9:00, hazy and cloudy. by noon, maybe a little thinning out there. you may need sunglasses in areas. you can see a stray shower around mendocino and lake county. light showers continue through 4:00. maybe stray showers during the 7:00 hour. north of the san mateo bridge. here you go. here's the moderate rain, the yellows and the oranges moving

into the north bay. the heart of the bay at 4:00. exiting the south bay by 9:00. so if you're an early riser in the south bay, you may get through the morning commute without any rain. all right. we'll take a look at the rainfall totals coming up in my next hit which is less than seven minutes away. first let's look at the forecast. mostly cloudy to partly cloudy webs. light storms for thursday, friday and sunday. here's sue. we're going to a live look. southbound 280 at alemany where we have a full freeway closure due to police activity overnight. you can see the chp officer there moving some cones around. you are not allowed to stay on southbound 280. they are exiting you at alemany and getting you back on 280 about a mile down the road. they're hoping about an hour from now to have lanes open. we'll check back with the chp in just a little bit in the abc 7's tiffany wilson is there with a live update. no delays at the toll plaza. it is martin luther king holiday
