at the sunnyvale golf course and it was scarey. here is video from twitter showing an officer with guns drawn. 911 dispatchers just received a call from the registered owner who spotted the thief driving his truck. >> i got my phone and called the police. >> reporter: chp officers started chasing the truck. it went on 237 and then started driving the wrong way. >> that driver got out of the vehicle jumped over the fence and got out and ran away. >> reporter: the driver ended up cutting through the golf course. they drove patrol cars and brought in canines to look for the thieves.

she was crossing the street when a city owned car struck her only going 15 miles per hour. the driver cooperated with the investigation and no indication alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. a 16-year-old wrestler at college park high school is paralyzed from the neck down after suffering a spinal cord injury. he is not able to breathe on his own and a gofundme page is set she was a vibrant woman who just turned 40. a woman who exercised regularly but this san jose mother fell victim to the flu. her family is sharing the shocking story of how the flu quickly took her life. david louie has the story from san jose. >> we are handling as best you can handle it.

but a devastating loss. >> reporter: 40-year-old katie oxly thomas was rushed to the emergency room when her flu symptoms became serious. the fever got worse and specialist urged their her three children fly in from san diego where they lived with their father. she could not speak. stepmother watched as katie's condition deteriorated over a span of hours. >> we are saying katie, you can fight this. you can beat this. and we couldn't believe it. we were in total shock. >> reporter: she died 15 hours after arriving at the hospital. the family wanted to encourage
