lim. police in the north bay have busted up a family business. >> now a mother and son are in jail accused of running a human trafficking prostitution ring. cornell bernard is live for us in rohnert park. >> investigators say the prostitution ring was being run out an apartment for a year. >> reporter: yeah, that's right, eric. in fact, neighbors tipped off investigators. tey say there was lots of activity at several locations in sonoma county. a mother and son now charged with running that ring. in fact, they were about to open this club in the next several weeks. >> you knew something was up just by the way they handled themselves. >> reporter: dollar and his wife gabby say for the past year the apartment upstairs from them was a very busy place, 24/7. >> it was different men all the time. and old, young, all of it. >> reporter: the couple's young kids subjected to noises late at night. >> 20, 30 times a day you would hear moaning. >> reporter: neighbors complained to managers who called the police, which led to

a sting operation and the arrest of 37-year-old david romesburg and his mother 59-year-old fay romesburg. police say they were running a prostitution ring out of the apartment where neighbors saw a constant cycle of activity. >> i've seen young ladies being dropped off and gentlemen leaving. >> reporter: police say the roam burgs posted ads online offering nude massages with so-called upgrades. the women were recruited by the pair. david romesburg is suspected of human trafficking. some of the women told investigators they were held against their will, forced to prostitute themselves or have sex with david before they were allowed to have money for certain basic things. >> there were multiple women coming and going that you knew just by their face that something was wrong. >> reporter: the romesburgs were about to open this karaoke club in rohnert park called the black cat. the landlord says the police raided the place armed with a search warrant. >> the police were here

yesterday evening all over the parking lot, in the front and the back. >> reporter: it's unknown what police were looking for. the sonoma county d.a.'s office is reviewing the case against a mother and her son. in rohnert park, cornell bernard, abc7 news. >> meantime, a large crowd of anti-abortion activists marched through san francisco today with a message that women deserve better than abortion. the 14th annual walk for life west coast began with a rally at civic center plaza then marched down market street to the embarcadero plaza. participant pointed out the double standard that they say exists in the country when it comes to abortion. >> if a drunk drive kills a mother and her child and she's pregnant, he gets charged with two counts of murder. well, why is it that he gets charged with murder but if she did it -- what if she was on her way to have an abortion, you know, and it's perfectly legal for her to do it, but it's not okay for somebody else to do it. >> walk for life wants to spread the message that abortion hurts

women and that they are there to help. now, the walk for life relay -- walk for life, i should say, met the rally for reproductive justice on market street. the abortion rights supporters accused the walk for life get-together as being made of people opposing the basic rights of women to bodily autonomy and self-determination. an organizer told us how important it is for the public to participate. >> for a long time, people have been staying home and not coming out to do things like that. that's what we think needs to change. we think people coming out to the streets to raise their voices is going to help push back their offensive and we can defend our right to abortion and access to health care. >> the gathering marched to fifth and market alongside the walk for life, despite high emotions. police said there was no violence, just a lot of yelling. >> now to the deepening fallout from the sex abuse scandal involving former usa gymnastics dr. larry nassar. a new focus is the school where he worked, michigan state.

a new player in the investigation could lead to sweeping changes at the university. >> we will put a bright light at every corner of the university. >> reporter: michigan's attorney general announcing a special counsel to probe what michigan state officials knew about larry nassar's activities. >> we will meet with every victim. we will listen to them. >> reporter: that special counsel headed by bill forsyth, a former prosecutor. the investigation putting msu's board members under increased scrutiny. >> we're awful sorry for the trouble we've caused those poor women. >> reporter: overnight, hundreds of demonstrators rallying in support of the more than 150 young girls, teens and college students sexually abused by nassar who was a physician for the athletic department at msu for 20 years. >> i have experienced flash back nightmares of the abuse. >> reporter: some of the survivors of nassar abuse sitting down with 20/20's elizabeth vargas. >> there were at least 17

officials at msu in some capacity, whether coaches trainers, at least three psychologist who's received reports of what larry was doing. not a single one of them reported. >> reporter: the entire u.s. gymnastics board ordered by the olympic committee to resign, says it will do so. authorities in texas say they're investigating the team's former training facility run by powerhouse husband and wife team. it's there many of the girls claim they were sexually abused under the pretense of medical treatment. abc news new york. >> photos posted on social media that show raw meat in shopping carts have led to a health investigation in the south bay. this woman posted the photo of men delivering unwrapped meat earlier this month to the 99 ranch market in san jose. now our media partner, the mercury news, reports the santa clara county department of environmental health received complaints yesterday and is taking immediate steps to investigate. the meat vendor, jim's farm meat company out of the central

valley, told the modesto b it is investigating and said both employees in the photos have been fired. new details and some dramatic video and sound now from a chp cruiser dash cam on the night of the montecito mudslides. just watch this video, pretty intense here, as the office's car is just swept away by swift-moving water and debris. then wait for it, just finally gains traction the other way after being pushed 180 degrees. still getting their bearings. the officers see a pedestrian right in the middle of the outcoming mud. >> get out of here! run. go, go, go! >> wow, the officers were responding to reports of an explosion and structure fire when that catastrophe unfolded. after one of the men stepped out to check the conditions, his partner saw the water rising again. >> mike, get in the car. mike, get in the car. get in the car. get in the [ bleep ] car. >> there is goes. the officers notified residents to stay inside, possibly saving

dozens of lives. this morning, 18 days after the mudslide, mandatory evacuations for parts of montecito were finally lifted. >> quite a scene in san francisco this afternoon. take a look at this video. abc7 news was on market street as a broken hydrant shot water high into the air. this is right near 8th street. the water began gushing at about 3:00 p.m. and firefighters struggled to shut off the flow. they finally got to turned off about a half hour later. the fire department says a vehicle hit the hydrant, causing the mess. some marijuana dispensaries in california say they are experiencing a supply shortage. a santa cruz county shop says they're having a hard time finding some popular brands because smaller producers haven't been able to obtain licenses and stockpiles built up by retail shops before legal sales started this month will eventually run out. the founder of urban leaf dispensaries says the state will need more licensed growers in

amazon's latest employee perk is all about the green, not cash, plants. that green. the company's new workplace called spheres is set to open monday in seattle and these pictures are from the developer. it's a trio of steel and glass interconnected greenhouses designed to employees to wander, think or hold meetings. the spheres will house more than,000 species of plants. barracks in several cities

now. 72% of average since october first for rainfall, 68% of average for san francisco. you can see, 73% sfo, so these are definitely improving these averages, but certainly well behind where we should be. so tomorrow in santa rosa, how about 68 degrees? the average high is 58. ten degrees above normal. more clouds on monday, a slight dip and then look at the rebound, 70 for tuesday. you can see in the lower 70s by the time we get to friday. we're looking the north end of the bay and around santa cruz, some very mild air tomorrow. 70 there. upper 60s here. low 60s for san francisco and oakland so this will be just a little bit above average. a beautiful afternoon tomorrow. and check this out. the accuweather seven-day forecast. not only do we have more mild weather as we get through the end of january, but we're talking some low 70s as early as tuesday. minor dip on wednesday. sunny and warm as we begin the
