city, north 101. this fatality is out there right now with two lanes blocked and leo owe three lanes blocked. we're going to check in with matt keller in a few minutes with the latest. they hope to have it cleared shortly. you can see the backup remains. to avoid it, you take woodside road to veterans. they have that detour in place. northbound 680 after el pintado, an accident here. they're going to get it out of the roadway. they have to get it righted and out of there. looks like traffic is getting by okay right now. >> sue, thank you. back to that crash you started with, the deadly one that down lanes on northbound 101. >> reporter matt keller along 101 near whipple. matt? >> reporter: good morning, reggie and natasha. this investigation is causing a significant backup right now. the chp told us they expected to have all lanes open at around 5:00. that's not happening. it looks like it's going to be at least a little while longer

before they get all these lanes open. that's why traffic is backed up. you've got about two lanes open right now. traffic is moving slowly by the investigation scene. this happened just before 1:50 this morning. the chp says four vehicles with at the scene. more may have been involved. all lanes were stopped and a sig-alert was issued just after 2:00 a.m. officers did cpr on the man, but he died at the scene. the victim is a hayward resident in his 30s. the chp is looking into who is at fault. matt keller, abc 7 news. matt, thank you. happening now, cleaning up a big mess in hayward. >> a water main break led to a sinkhole. it's impacting traffic in the air yachlt amy hollyfield along highland boulevard. >> reporter: one side is still closed. heavy piece of equipment still located here. cones blocking off this side of

the street. this is also blocking a few driveways here. that could make for an interesting monday morning. look at what caused this. this cell phone video shows the water and mud gushing down highland boulevard. after a 12-inch water main broke around 11:00 yesterday morning, that triggered a sinkhole to open up. this is along mission and hayward. some sidewalks buckled and driveways flooded. >> out my window, i started panicking once the water was raising up on the other side of the house. >> reporter: her house is okay. but she did hear that a neighbor's home suffered from some water damage. she does plan to file a damage claim against the city. crews removed the broken section of the 40-year-old concrete and asbestos pipe and replaced it with a blue pvc pipe. the utilities were turnedon by . they do say they hope to have the street reopened.

sale. a short term ban on new vacation rentals after the fires is set to expire on saturday. developing news this morning. police are trying to find -- >> home video captured this moment. before we show it to you, we want to let you know the officer will be okay. this video started rolling. the 8-year veteran hit head on by a car trying to get away from the scene. he suffered some broken bones, cuts and bruises. he's now out of hospital and police are confident he will make a full recovery. >> he actually landed on the hood of the car and rolled up on to the windshield. he was narrowly missed getting ran over by other cars. >> from my windows, i could see flashes when they were setting off fireworks. >> the suspect's car is described as a dark colored four-door sedan. police are asking anyone with

information about the sideshow to please contact them. a man suspected of pointing a laser at a police helicopter during a sideshow in oakland. the highway patrol and oakland police teamed up to track the suspect down. a chp helicopter was overhead when someone flashed a green laser at the chopper. the chp helicopter then followed the suspect's car and directed officers to his location. a man from pittsburg was arrested around 2:15 yesterday morning. he could face state and federal charges. let's talk about what's going on outside. just a handful of neighborhoods a little cooler than yesterday. the peninsula, out to the coast and livermore. everywhere else you see the yellow. temperatures up to 6 degrees warmer. we're starting from a higher base because of the cloud cover this morning. but the cloud cover is going to keep us from reaching our potential like yesterday with a few record highs. if you're heading out in our inland east bay neighborhoods, it's as cool as 40 in walnut creek and danville. as warm as pittsburg and concord

contamination. it's cream cheese containers with an expiration date on or before april 2nd. it's out of an abundance of caution after samples tested positive for the bacteria. officials say if you've eaten the cream cheese and developed symptoms, fever, nausea, you need to get medical attention immediately and tell your doctor about your possible exposure. expected to undergo an architectural assessment after a car slammed into it yesterday. several people got hurt. an elderly driver mistook his accelerator for the break. he crashed into the wildflower bakery on bohemian highway. >> naturally, the first thought was an earthquake. then we were we noticed it was a car. i personally was pinned in. i could move and it was really painful. >> one person suffered moderate injuries. it was taken to the hospital. the others have minor injuries. they're expected to be okay.

firefighters cut away part of the wall to get the car out. sheriff's deputies need your help to find someone who robbed a salon. this happened 6:30 tuesday night. he threatened the victim with a box cutter. he left the store after the employee handed over some cash. he appears to be between the ages of 50 and 60. if you recognize him, the contra costa county sheriff wants to hear from you. the neighbor who bought their old home in texas says that house was filthy. he recalls the extensive cleaning she had to do after moving into david and louise turpin's former home. she had to use gallons of bleach. >> the kitchen, the cabinets were so dirty. we scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed on the cabinets, you know. and all of it, trying to get it clean enough. but the real estate company had already cleaned it good enough to put it on the market. >> the turpins have 13 children,

ranging from 2 to 29. riverside county prosecutors say that some of the children were found chained to their beds two weeks ago after their sister escaped and called 9-1-1. actor scott baio fighting back against accusations of sexual assault. >> nicole eggert claims baio assaulted her in the sitcom charles in charge. she was a minor at the time and baio was in his mid-20s. on facebook live, baio admitted to one consensual encounter with eggert when she was an adult. >> what was she, 19? i remember her calling me and asking to come over. coming in my house one time and seducing me. >> eggert claims she was assaulted several times when she was as young as 14. the u.s. secret service is warning banks across the country to be aware of jackpoting. it's a crime wave hitting america for the first time.

clouds keeping us warmer than average. the extent of the storms will stay away and replaced by record highs heading into the weekend. now, the high pressure that brought us so much warmth and sunshine yesterday being shoved off to the south and east and taking the warmest weather with it. temperatures in the low to mid-80s in southern california today. it will be back in the 60s thanks to the high clouds. there will be a few areas in the 70s. santa cruz, 74 degrees today. will be closed in half moon bay and morgan hill at 69. you can see 71 at ukiah. for the most part, around 64 to 67 for our neighborhoods around the bay. antioch, maybe cooler at 62 degrees. keep an eye on the tule fog this morning and again tomorrow morning as it tries to slip into the delta and the east bay and possibly the bay itself. some radiation fog in santa rosa possible tomorrow morning like this morning. 38. the warm spot is san francisco at 49. let's go through the accuweather seven-day forecast. notice how the high clouds never really leave us.

they're a dominant feature of a warmer air mass. it's called warm air convection clouds. we'll be near 70 tomorrow. we'll be in the low to upper 60s from the coast to inland wednesday. in the mid 60s to near 70 and mid to upper 60s near 70. that's when we'll watch the records friday, saturday and sunday. you've been watching a couple stents this morning, sue. do you have an update? >> yes, i have and yes i do. redwood city, we watched the final chp officer clear out of lanes. better news in redwood city. this was an earlier fatality involving a motorcycle that had for a time all lanes closed. for the last hour or so, two right lanes were getting by. as you can see, traffic, all lanes just reopened in redwood city. i believe we're going to check back in a few minutes with abc 7's matt keller. he'll give us full details. that should be clearing out and recovering, i should say. right now, traffic is stacked up back past highway 84 with speeds under 20 miles an hour.

minutes. we have an update on a deadly crash that closed down lanes on northbound 101. >> sue told us it's back open. matt keller is live along 101 near whipple. matt? >> reporter: good morning, reggie and natasha. we have good news for commuters this morning. all lanes of northbound 101 here in redwood city at whipple avenue are now back open. the chp reopened them about ten minutes ago. of course, the bad news this morning, a motorcyclist lost his life in a multivehicle crash. that happened at about 1:50 this morning here in redwood city. the chp says four vehicles were involved and at least a couple of others may also have been involved but they left the scene. the rider of a motorcycle was reported in the middle of the highway. all lanes were stopped and a sig-alert issued after 2:00 a.m. officers did cpr on the man. he's described as a hayward resident in his 30s. the chp is looking into who was at fault. commuters can expect a smooth

ride right now. no backup here. reporting live in redwood city, matt keller, abc 7 news. thank you. some drivers driving across the bay bridge into san francisco over the weekend may have noticed a new sign. the white national list organization, identity europea tweeted these photos that read danger, sanctuary city ahead. there was a tweet -- the law does not apply to illegal invaders and enter at your own risk it said. the highway patrol says the banner was up for a very short time. a grenade closed part of downtown benicia. police are trying to track down where it came from. abc 7 news was at first and g street when the bomb squad from travis air force base responded to clear the scene. police say a boy discovered the grenade in some water at the foot of first street. he then brought it over to his father. the dad called police who cordoned off the area until the bomb squad removed the device.

it's covered in barnicles. but still had its pin intangt. now a live desk update. from the live desk. firefighters are investigating how a fire sparked near highway 87. it started just after midnight in san jose on santa clara street. you can see the planes creeping up the side of the highway there. the fire created a lot of smoke in the area while crews worked to put it out. no word on any injuries or damage. happening today, the man accused of causing a crash that killed two young girls in antioch is expected to be arraigned. 23-year-old noe saucedo was driving a stolen truck when he ran a red light and slammed into another truck. 4-year-old and 2-year-old died in the crash. during his first court appearance, his family said he's related to the vib timts. the so-called serial stowaway is back in custody this morning. you'll likely know the story. they arrested marilyn hartman at o'hare international airport yesterday. she has a long history of trying

to catch flights without a boarding pass, including sfo, san jose and oakland. now the 66-year-old is charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass and violating her bail bond. >> i think you have to get an underlying mechanism. what does it mean that she's evading tsa and going to the airports. it's not about consequences and rewards in the traditional sense. about the meaning this has in her life. >> she slipped past a security checkpoint and flew to london. she was arrested by british customs and flown back to chicago the next day. a judge ordered her to undergo a mental health evaluation. crediting an experienced pilot with landing a plane safely on a freeway. this happened on the 55 freeway in costa mesa around 7:30 last night. authorities say the pilot was flying to john wayne airport in orange county when it developed engine trouble. the plane landed smoothly on the freeway as cars were driving by. there were two people on board and now the faa is investigating. golden gate ferry adding a

new commuter ferry for the first time in a decade. the examiner reports the district has approved a plan to lease and eventually pch a vessel. ridership from the north bay to san francisco spiked over the last decade. if all goes as planned, the new vessel could be leased as soon as next month at a cost of almost $19,000. marin transit leaders not giving up on a plan to have buses drive on the shoulders of highway 101. the marin ij reports that the transportation authority is applying for a $350,000 grant to study this idea. chp raised concerns about it already. the narrow shoulder width, disabled vehicles and conflicts at on and off ramps. officials say bus bypass shoulders are -- worth considering here. san francisco requires workplaces to provide nursing moms a space to pump milk. that law could expand statewide. here's what a lactation room looks like. scott wiener is going to
