pull him over, the driver of the suv attempted to ram the motorcycle. the officer then fired several rounds hitting the suv. now the suspect then took off and was able to drive about a mile to another neighborhood where he dumped the stolen suv and ran off. >> and the suspect backed his suv into the officer and dragged him backwards along the roadway. >> n >> reporter: now the suv was found thanks to the chp helicopter and officers on the ground. it was later taken away and you can see the bullet holes, several, which hit the windshield and the radiator. now when i saw the area where the suv had been found, there was radiator fluid on the ground but i saw no blood, so they're not sure if the man they're looking for was injured. while they were looking for him, two nearby schools, a high school and a preschool, both on

broken into moments before that undercover officer sprang into action. under cover san francisco police officers with northern station were conducting surveillance in the area of alamo square in an area known for car break ins. as officers watched, so did aaron's husband. >> he said come back, our car was smashed, our car was broken. >> reporter: the couple had just arrived in san francisco. >> it sounded like a car hit another car and i looked over and i saw a car flying up in the air. >> reporter: the under cover officer who had been on this bicycle attempted to detain the car. >> rammed the officer and in doing so, also ran over one of the suspects. >> reporter: the officer has nonlife-threatening injuries. police say the suspect's condition is unclear.

for the next two weeks, the cpc is saying dry conditions, very dry conditions over the western third of the country, which includes southern california and the bay area. looking westward from our exploratorium camera. 67 in oakland, low to mid 70s in mountain view and san jose, this is a view of blue sky from mt. tam. it's 75 in santa rosa right now, 70 in napa and fairfield. novato, 72, and as we look at the six-hour planner, you can see skies will remain clear through the evening and even as we get into the late night and overnight, temperatures are not going to drop very much tonight, so it will be a relatively pleasant overnight period. we'll look at a warm and record setting weather in the days ahead. it was a frustrating commute

for some commuters, around 10:30 in the morning a maintenance vehicle derailed and damaged 40 feet of the rail. no one was hurt. when trains began for the morning, trains had to be single tracked between union city and south hayward stations. crews removed 65 feet of the damaged rail, they put in a temporary fix and they will put in a new rail overnight. los angeles sheriff's investigators are now looking at actor robert wagner in the death of his wife. wood died under mysterious circumstances in 1981 while sailing with wagner and actor christopher walken. detectives reopened the case in 2011, and according to the new report, wagner's version of events did not add up. no comment today from wagner. the state senate approved a bill to extend whistle blower protections to members of the
