>> nice try. our local connections to tonight's super bowl are closer than you might realize. abc7 news reporter, kate larson, is live in danville to tell us about the latest super bowl heroes, zach ertz, kate? >> reporter: tom brady not the only local star, and ertz grew up in danville and had a really big night in minneapolis. number 86, zach ertz with the game-winning touchdown. he may be an eagle now but he started his career as a mustang in danville after which he headed across the bay to stanford where he was all american. she has known ertz since he was in elementary school and she's the owner of sweet street in danville, and johnston was next

day. will the warm weather continue for the start of the workweek? abc7 news meteorologist, drew tuma, has the forecast. >> record warmth yesterday and again today. numbers soared into the 70s and 80s. look at highs, records set from santa rosa, san francisco, oakland, sfo, and san jose and half moon bay, tying or setting new records with temperatures in the 70s. still holding on to some of the warmth right now in the late-night hour, and current temperatures, most spots in the 50s and 60s above average for this time of the year. future tracker temperatures by 11:00 tomorrow morning, and once again already have spots in the 70s. it's going to be another warm day on tap and we will let you know how long it will get tomorrow afternoon and how long the warm weather will stick around in a few minutes. >> thank you. a chase involving two cars in the south bay and then gunfire, and a woman suffered

critical injuries in the shooting just before midnight. you see damaged cars parked on the street where the chase occurred, and our media partner reports the man was driving and being chased by another driver. the suspect walked up to the wreck and fired several times and her passenger was able to run away. a dog attacked a girl this morning at a park in the east bay. it happened before 11:00 at a trail in richmond. the dog's owner was walking the dog on the leash. park police say the man snatched the child and dragged her to the ground. she suffered bites to the abdomen area, and scratches, and the dog is now in custody of animal control. this is surveillance video showing a woman escaping from two dogs that chased her in oakland. one of the dogs who attacked the officer who arrived minutes later, and officers shot and

several local businesses suffered damage overnight, and tonight those businesses in oakland are frustrated and demanding a stop to the illegal shows. screeching tires and burning rubber in oakland, early sunday. a large crowd gathered to watch the side show play out. the owner of the exon scared to show his face. a crowd suddenly smashes the front glass door. several people are seen running in and out with stolen merchandise. the employee that was not hurt called 911. >> it is the responsibility for the police department to make it safe for the community and the business owner. >> when officers responded some

had bottles thrown at them, and they cited 147 people involved in the side show. another side show happened near the oakland coliseum at the same time, and a man is thrown off the side of the car that was doing doughnuts. a man running for mayor says they should be given a way. >> the lasers i do not condone or tolerate, so if they want a venue, the side shows have to stop. >> in oakland, abc7 news. a pair of mountain lion sightings has a palo alto neighborhood concerned tonight. it's not clear if the same animal was seen twice if there were two different mountain

lions. one witness was driving down the street when she saw a lion cross her lawn before it disappeared. >> we were shocked, and we were, like, look at that, and i honked to make it run and it went through the neighbor's yard and into the backyard and it made my daughter very scared because she never had seen anything like that. >> these are the first mountain lion sightings in palo alto in six months. and then accusing uber of ripping off key pieces of the self driving technology. the case is being heard in federal court in san francisco. south bay kids had an inspiring lesson in how to

starry skies, but one problem with the warmth is the allergies. everything is blossoming now thanks to the plants thinking it's early spring. tree pollen is at moderate levels and the main offenders are elm and pine tree, and if you are sniffing it's because pollen is on the rise. and in san francisco, it's four degrees above our average daytime high this time of year. 59 in san jose. 55, that current number in concord. and the coolest spot on the map at 43. we will hang on to the clear skies. fog will not be an issue tomorrow morning for the monday morning commute. temperatures will remain on the mild side, 40s and 50s in the warmest spots, and typically this time of the year we should drop to the 30s in the coldest locations but we will not be anywhere near that in the next 24 hours. here's the setup. across california it's very quiet. a few high clouds passing from

time to time. this is where the storm track is right now. some 700 miles north of us, right around seattle, that's where you see a little rain right now thanks to high pressure off the coast, keeping that storm track north and this pattern is not changing anytime soon, unfortunately. sun is up here around 7:10 in the morning. 40s and 50s out the door. grab a light jacket because by noon these numbers are quickly rising. by 4:00 in the afternoon, it's a mild afternoon with temperatures to the coast to the bay and inland going to the 70s once again. highs on your monday, 70 in san francisco and oakland tomorrow afternoon. 76 for san jose. the same in santa rosa, 78 in clover dale. 72, that high in livermore. compare this to average. this time of the year the average daytime high should be around 60 degrees, but with everybody in the 70s from san jose to oakland to concord and redwood city, we're 11 to 17

well, the third time is a charm. eagles after 52 of trying and their third super bowl appearance, they finally have their lombardi trophy. tro stanford grad, ertz, got the game winner.

and nick foles replacing the quarterback this year. and then a 34-yard touchdown, and eagles up 9-3 after a missed extra point. and then tom brady connects with receiver cooks. he turns around, and he's out. cooks did not come back. and patriots try to get tricky. a pass to brady, and can't make the catch. a questionable call unless he catches it. and then foles shows brady how its done. eagles up 22-12. on the reverse, foles also threw three touchdowns for 373 yards. brady closing the gap, finds gronk, five yards and a three-point game. back in the end zone, a 22-yard touchdown. check out the feet. one, two, he's in. and then brady deep, and

26-yard touchdown. a three-point game again, and then gronk found a second time. 505 yards for brady. but foles tough as nails, and ertz, the go ahead touchdown and reviewed and called a catch and eagles up five. that left a lot of time on the clock for brady. the eagles recover and end up hanging on for a 41-33 win, delivering the philadelphia eagles their first super bowl victory. >> i didn't have to be superman. i have amazing teammates and coaches around me and all i had to do was hard as i could and play for one another and play for those guys and not look at the scoreboard or the time, just go out and play and don't worry about it, and came away with a victory. >> pretty disappointing.

good evening. thank you for joining us. i am eric thomas. >> i am deon lin. ertzs from danville caught the catch that put the eagles ahead in the last minutes of action. highway patrol officers spent super bowl sunday looking for drunk drivers along bay area freeways. it's a maximum enforcement effort. no arrest numbers are available for tonight. several oakland business owners need to repair damage after vandalism took place during an illegal side show overnight. some of them are demanding

oakland police and city leaders do more to stop the dangerous gatherings. oakland police said they towed 37 cars and cited 147 people in the latest side show. and then an amtrak crashed head on with a freight train in south carolina. the early-morning tragedy injured 115 other people and killed two. >> reporter: daylight showed the horrific damage of the head on collision, and the amtrak train nearly unrecognizable after the crash. >> we had a derailment at charleston. >> the amtrak engineer and conductor were riding in the front and were killed. nearly all of the 139 passengers suffered injuries. >> my first thought is i was not going to make it, this was the end for me. that's the way i felt. >> reporter: more than 100 taken

the morning, the amtrak slammed into the stationary train. the company gave no indication why the switch was set in the wrong position. questions for the ntsb, why wasn't that switch flipped back to the main line? and why didn't they tell amtrak to stop? a pilot is fine tonight after making an emergency landing when his landing gear failed to work in texas. check it out. you are looking at video that captured the small plane skidding along a run way at san antonio international airport. the plane scraped along the pavement for about 100 yards. the faa is trying to find out why the landing gear failed. slick roads in the nation's midsection of causing numerous crashes including a huge pileup that closed part of a missouri

interstate overnight. this drone footage was taken by fire department along interstate 44 east of springfield. numerous cars and big rigs lost traction in the icy westbound lanes near the town of marsh field. the highway patrol says the road will be closed all night and two other big rig crashes on the same freeway killed one person and sent a dozen to the hospital. tomorrow for the third and final time, a disgraced former usa gymnastics doctor will be sentenced to decades in prison. on friday 265 women and girl had reported abuse. nassar was sentenced last week to 42 to 175 years in prison and a federal judge sentenced him to 60 years on child pornography charges in december. now to the controversial republican memo on the russia investigation. president trump says the declassified memo vindicates him

the story of super bowl lii has to be eagles' quarterback nick foles, and he was ready to retire after leaving arizona, and hooked on to the eagles and all he did was throw from 373 yards and three touchdowns and becomes the first quarterback in super bowl history to catch a touchdown pass. he was so cool under pressure, as eagles took a lot of chances on fourth downs and his teammates rallied around him. as you can imagine, the game's mvp was on cloud 9 afterwards. >> to be part of the eagles first super bowl championship, we have all waited a long time
