let's jump into my 12-hour planner. 44 to 53. pretty mild this morning. by noon, 67 to even 70 at the coast. we're still going to be breezy in the hills. the thing you'll notice today, maybe your sinuses are bothering you or your throat is scratchy because the air will be even drier than yesterday. 70 to 74 at 4:00. and a comfortable evening at 7:00. we'll be seeing stars and feeling temperatures around 60 to 63 degrees. you're wondering about our bridges this morning, let's turn it over to sue. let's check on the golden gate bridge. it's very light. hardly a car coming across here. we do have road work to the north. it's south of the waldo tunnel or the robin williams tunnel and to the golden gate bridge with one lane shut down. that's until 5:00. otherwise you're looking at very easy conditions. taking a look at our early morning commute out of tracy, slowing there. ace train number one did get out of stockton on time so a great alternate to 580. sue, thank you. developing news this morning there are growing concerns about

the losses on wall street. >> the dow jones plunged nearly 1,200 points yesterday. overnight asian markets fell sharply following wall street's lead. so what does this mean for our 401(k)? serena marshall in washington now to help explain this. serena? >> reporter: reggie, natasha, good morning. no question it was a tough day on wall street but analysts and the white house says this is simply the ebbs and flows of the market. it was the biggest one-day drop in history. anxious traders as the dow plummeted 1,500 points before rebounding and ending the day still down more than 1,100 points. but before you go racing to make changes to your 401(k), that big drop isn't signaling another great recession. >> the stock market has gone too far too fast. it is just appropriate to hit the reset button. if we look at the results from last year, they're way above the normal historic averages. >> reporter: those historic

judge in the brock turner case on the june ballot. the recall campaign against judge aaron perskey gathered almost 100,000 signatures. that's enough to put it on the ballot. he sentenced the swimmer to just six months in jail for sexually assaulting an uncautious woman on campus. the petition will go on the ballot automatically if the board takes no action. governor jerry brown signed a bill granting protection for whistleblowers at the capitol who report sexual misconduct or other misbehavior. the governor signed the bill just hours after the assembly passed it unanimously yesterday. the measure was first introduced four years ago. the senate blocked it each year up until now. the law comes amid sexual harassment allegations at the state capitol and across the country. a victim of the wildfires jumped in to help as flames once again returned to santa rosa. this time a runaway dump truck that caused a crash that then erupted into an inferno on the

road. several cars burst into flames, as you can see here, after the truck hit them at fountaingrove. we brought this to you as breaking news on our abc 7 news app. the truck had been hauling debris from homes destroyed during october's firestorms. larry broderick lost his home to those fires. he ran into a wall of flames and saved other drivers from an inferno. >> i started opening doors, but i couldn't open by myself. i yelled for people to help. >> he's a hero. he saves everybody's life every day. >> six people went to the hospital. police will examine the truck to see if its brakes failed. sonoma supervisors will consider a plan to give county workers who lost their homes in the october wildfires a financial boost. the idea is to let them cash out up to $10,000 worth of unused vacation time. the fire destroyed or damaged the homes of 156 employees. a lump sum payment is a one-time only deal. workers would have to keep at least 40 hours of vacation time on the books.

the high-profile lawsuit involving self-driving cars continues today in san francisco. google's spinoff wamo claims a former employee stole trade secrets before quitting in 2016. the employee then formed his own self-driving truck company which uber bought. waymo claims uber used the stolen tech to develop its own autonomous vehicle. the employee was later fired for failing to cooperate with investigators. a majority of san franciscos say they support those red transit only lanes. according to "the examiner" 55% of people in the city support the red lanes while 30% are opposed. the red lanes can be found in the mission, gary boulevard, you parts of counsel town, too. muni received approval to put red lanes on at least 50 more streets to speed up buses. starting saturday you can buy an app to buy caltrain

tickets. it will let riders purchase tickets from their phones. that means no more stopping at the ticketing machine before getting on. the prices are the same and you can buy tickets for multiple people on one device. let's take a look at some neighborhood temperatures since we're all over the scale in our inland east bay neighborhoods. blackhawk up in the hills at 66. a little flatter, though, danville. still getting the breezes at 61. right down to the south it's 49. to the north it's 47. look at pleasanton, 57. then livermore, 46. temperatures near 60 off the highway 4 corridor to around 50 in pleasant hill. the same temperature in oakland, 47. we have low 50s along the bay shore into the south bay. in the hills, los gatos, 65. pacifica, 62. 56 in san francisco. let's talk about your commute today. not seeing any fog out there. the air is too dry.

breezy in the hills for mass transit and around the bay there will be tons of sun glistening off the water. san francisco, look at these temperatures today. 52 at 8:00. 61 at 10:00. 66 at noon. 67 at 2:00. total sunshine until 6:00 when we see stars and we're back in the 60s. for the south bay, 53 at 8:00. 6 3 at 10:00. we'll be in the 70s all the way up to 5:00. and then low 60s by 8:00. my accuweather seven-day forecast, no rain but the record high temperatures will stop. i'll let you know when coming up. here is sue with a look at what's going on coming in from the east bay. a look at the bay bridge toll plaza. it's an easy drive into san francisco. if your drive takes you from highway 4 or hercules through the corridor less than 30 minutes. if you have to be up this early it's smooth sailing for you. we do have an earlier accident on 101 near tully cleared out

then a quick hitting storm may drop a few snow showers saturday and sunday. i wouldn't expect much. reggie? >> there's some indication concern is growing among president trump's legal team over the russia investigation. abc news has learned the president's lawyers are advising him against sitting down with special counsel robert mueller. sources say the concern is president trump could contradict himself during an interview. mr. trump said he would speak with the special counsel even under oath. if the presidnt refuses the interview mueller could go to court and force him to talk. vice president pence is not ruling out the possibility with meeting with south korean officials this week. his itinerary includes the winter olympics in south korea and north korea is taking part in the games. 4:43 now. uc president janet napolitano is expected to attend a two-day board of regents meeting after

she was recently hospitalized for side effects from cancer treatment. officials say napolitano was back to her full schedule. it is not clear what kind of cancer she has or what complicationed caused the hospitalization. her treatment is near completion and she has been successful with treatment before. text to 911. encouraging people to call if they can and text if they can. texting comes with limitations. it is in its first phase and the system is not perfect. if you text from a location close enough to the freeway the message goes to the chp. then they have to route the text to the appropriate agency and that takes time. text to 911 -- the recall times would have made a difference including during home invasions or instances when domestic violence or abuse is present. >> her drunk father was trying
