recover costs linked to the north bay wildfires. according to the napa valley register, the suit has not been filed. attorneys have speculated that downed and damaged power lines sparked the october fires. sonoma, lake and mendocino counts counties are also planning to sue pg&e. a drunk driver accused of killing andrew camilleri will be back in court. this man was driving more than 120 miles an hour when he rear-ended camilleri in hayward. this happened christmas eve. the 22-year-old is charged with first degree murder. he's appearing in court today for a bail hearing. a woman critically injured in a chase and shooting last weekend has died. abc 7 news was on cadillac drive where cars were damaged in the area where the chase happened sunday morning. the woman was driving with a man and the two were chased by another driver. the woman crashed after the

other driver shot toward her. been revealed and no arrests have been made. acting san francisco mayor mark farrell is downplaying potential -- the day he was sborn in, he signed an agreement he wouldn't receive compensation from thayer ventures. a confidential memo written by his company's managing director. it says in part that farrell's 4.5 month term as mayor will inure. become an advantage to the long-term benefit of thayer ventures. we asked mayor farrell if he had seen the letter. >> no. i didn't see the final letter. i understand why that was sent. >> why? >> as my partner mentioned, to assure our investors that after being mary would be returning. i think he discussed that was perhaps a poor choice of words. >> if you'd like to read the entire memo, it's on abc7news.com. now, farrell is not going to be running for mayor in june.

minutes. give yourself more time. blocking three lanes in the eastbound direction. that's been cleared but still very slow towards concord for about a half hour drive from antioch. >> thank you, sue. a house fire in the south bay sent three people to the hospital. the heavy smoke coming out of this duplex in los gatos. this is not far from winchester boulevard. the fire started at about 9:15 last night. firefighters tell abc 7 news when they got there, two people were hurt. they made it out to the front lawn. you see them there. there was later a third person found who needed to go to the hospital. a neighbor helped some of the victims. >> i wept to the entryway of the house, picked her up and took her to the grass where it was safe and ran to the neighbor's house. yeah. made sure she was out. >> we're waiting to hear how the victims are doing. a total of five people displaced and the cause is under investigation. we expect to learn more

about a lawsuit filed over the massive flooding in san jose. been almost a year since the anderson reservoir caused coyote creek to flood its banks. it flooded hundreds of homes. they claim at that officials warned them too late about the impending disaster. water officials have since taken some steps to prevent future flooding from occurring. the dmv office near the oakland coliseum will remain closed until monday following a flood caused by copper thieves. abc 7 news was on 85th avenue as officials checked out the damage. crews were vacuuming up water from the floor yesterday. the highway patrol believes that a thief stole copper tubing from the roof and caused the water to cascade through the ceiling. congress is set to vote today. >> it said it would fund the government for two years. it includes billions of dollars for opioid treatment, disaster

relief. infrastructure improvements and defense spending. a couple of things noticeably absent. there is no deal on how to address immigration. it also doesn't provide any money for the president's border wall. >> sticking with d.c. and the firestorm in the white house this morning. one much president trump's top aides resigned after two ex wives came forward with abuse allegations. staff secretary rob porter is denying the claims. the women told the story to the daily mail in the online publication the intercept. one of the ex-wives said porter punched her in the face more than a decade ago. cecilia vega is covering the story and she explains why porter is still on the job. >> the white house said that rob porter would stay on the job to oversee a smooth transition. i'm being told in the wake of the release of the photos and the public interviews by the two ex-wives, there's a renewed sense much urgency, george, to get him out of this job.

sounds like he'll be leaving sooner than expected. many wondering if he was properly vetted by the white house. say 17-year-old boy under arrest in connection with a deadly san jose shooting. the shooting happened early tuesday on key street near 7th. police say the boy was in a car seen driving away. they stopped the vehicle, they arrested him a short time later. the victim identified as a man. but his name not released. no motive has been given for that shooting. 6:35 now. the search is on for two people who reportedly repeatedly vandalizing one richmond building. a member of the police department shared a photo. you can see the graffiti on the side of veterans memorial hall on 23rd street. two male suspects have been tagging this wall between midnight and 3:00 a.m. one will typically stand as lookout on the corner. they've been seen in a goeld or champagne colored honda. waking up to cool temperatures along the coast. some 40s inland. 45 in santa cruz. another day of low 70s.

officer. uc officials have accepted the recommendation of police chief margo bennett to hire an independent agency to review. cancer warning labels have been on packs of cigarettes for years. now if a group has its way, you could see them on coffee. a lawsuit that has been going on since 2010 is going to mediation today. a group called the council for education and research on tock i cans wants coffee manufacturers, distributors and retailers to post warnings about a potentially cancer-causing chemical in coffee. it's called acrylamide. it's a natural by-product of the coffee roasting process. coffee industry officials assert the chemical is at harmless levels. acrylamide is also found in french fries and potato chips. some of your wearable tech may have an added benefit. according to a study, apple watches, android wear and fit bits can detect early signs of
