a llexis still off on maternity lea leave. >> it's most breezy along the coast right now. gusting to 26 at half moon bay. it's let up a little bit elsewhere. you can see in the reporting stations, less than ten miles per hour. we've had gusts across some of our east-west bridges, like the bay bridge and the altamont pass that have been concerning. up to 20, 25 miles per hour. it's pretty dry out there. it's going to get drier as the winds blow in. right now, up to 33 at mt. tamalpais. the winds will pick up once the sun comes up. this morning, pretty good. 40 to 48. by noon, it's breezy once again. temperatures around 55 to 56. still breezy at 4:00. not as fast as yesterday. 55 to 59. the breezes will start to relax at 7:00. 49 to 53. here's more on the commute with sue. >> we're checking in with a couple of problem spots. 6:00 on your monday morning commute. let's check back with oakland. this is now westbound 580 before high street.

apparently several lanes blocked here with a couple of cars. we're not seeing any slow traffic yet. we're going to check back with the chp to see the status of that. north 101 near mckee, we have a couple of lanes blocked here. you can see very slow traffic here headed northbound. we'll zoom in with the 3d view and you can see the slow and go. just at a crawl northbound 101 at this hour. hopefully it will get that cleared out. otherwise, we'll advise you take 280. thank you, sue. the wind was a big story over the weekend. gusts of more than 40 miles per hour left one man seriously hurt in san francisco after a fence landed on top of him. this morning, a wind advisory on the san mateo bridge. amy hollyfield has the story. >> reporter: it is cold here, reggie. it is windy. something to be aware of as you cross this bridge. as we saw yesterday in san francisco, the wind can be dangerous. that's where the wind grabbed a fence, shook it loose and

carried it across the street where it hit two people. this is cell phone video of firefighters helping them after it happened. a 41-year-old woman was hit suffering minor injuries. there's also a 68-year-old who is in critical condition. this happened in the mission district. residents say it was very windy. >> it did not surprise me because the wind is so heavy. i know from living in this area sometimes it is -- it can get pretty bad. >> the fence broke loose from a construction site. the building department is investigating. today will be windy again. anything loose on your property. it has to be secured. reporting live in foster city. amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. amy, thank you. happening today, the senate will begin debate on immigration and the fate of dreamers. republicans expected to

release -- 1.8 million dreamers could get a pass in exchange for billions to build the border wall. some called the proposal dead on arrival. this morning, vice president mike pence is on his way home from the korean peninsula. he says the u.s. is ready for talks about north korea and its nuclear program. the "washington post" reports pence and south korean president moon jae in have agreed on terms for further engagement with north korea. pence says the campaign will continue and intensify until the north takes a meaningful step toward denuclearization. the post is also reporting moon is urging north korea to sit down with the u.s. at the earliest opportunity. thanks, jessica. the vallejo water department is telling about a thousand households to run cold water through their faucets for ten

minutes. that's because sediment was carried into the water lines. we've made this map to see the effective households. this is along lemon street to 780 to laurel street and south pueblo way west to porter street and north back to lemon. city crews have flushed the system. they say discolored water is safe to drink. 6:04 now. several protests today. fight for $15 rallies will be take place in the bay area and across the country. protesters are pushin for a $15 an hour minimum wage. thousands plan to walk off the job today. the fight began with fast food workers in 2012. now workers from several fields are involved. takata reached a settlement agreement with thousands. it paves the way for the japanese company to exit chapter 11 bankruptcy. the faulty airbags have been linked to at least 21 deaths and hundreds of injuries.

takata plans to sell most of its assets to a chinese opened rival for $1.6 billion. investigators trying to figure out how a man made his way on to the runway at lax forcing a temporary shutdown. lapd believed the man was mentally ill or on drugs. he ran up to a southwest airlines plane ready for takeoff and pulled a fire extinguisher from the wheel well. this happened on saturday night. officers say the canine unit caught the suspect as he ran back towards the fence. his identity has not been rereleas rereleased. get out your phone and go to our website. we have a poll open about now. you can see it open at the bottom of your screen. the question is, sounds like left field. there's reason. does the fact that people use b.a.r.t. stations as a bathroom keep you from riding? we'll see the results in a few minutes. the major insurance company under investigation for denying

world war ii. let's talk temperatures on the peninsula. we're in the mid to upper 40s. 44. menlo park to 49 san mateo. over at the coast, mid to upper 40s at half moon bay. we're cooler on the east bay shoreline. look at this. 40 to 42. 48 in san jose. 36 right now in san ramon. cooler in napa. 34 to 43. here's the way it looks in san francisco. it's about 49 degrees right now as we look down the embarcadero. if you're exercising, the breezes will transport that pollen that keeps popping from the trees. watch for that. unlimited sunshine if you're going to be on the bay. at the beaches, the breezes will be chilly with the high temperatures in the mid-50s. i'll take a look at the rest of the temperatures in the seven-day forecast. sue has an update if you're traveling through oakland. >> that's right. westbound 583. right lanes are blocked near high street. slow traffic in the eastbound

presence of armed guards who watch and report everything i do. >> coming up on gma, hear why prosecutors believe the ex-wife's parents may have conspired to kidnap nico. that starts at 7:00 on abc 7. california's insurance commissioner is asking people to come forward after launching an insurance investigation into aetna. that's because a medical director admitted under oath he never looked at patients' records. the doctor served asset that's medical director from march 2012 to february of 2015. he admitted that instead of looking at patient records, he followed aetna training to make decisions based on nurses' review of records. that could be against the lieu. the commissioner is asking people to come forward if they feel they've been wronged. the san jose earthquakes had a dramatic unveiling for the navy s.e.a.l. jersey. >> you'll see a navy s.e.a.l.

yesterday was the beginning of the end of the heat wave that went through nine days at least of record high temperatures. check this out. we're either spot on or within one degree of average highs today. >> thanks, mike. it's early in the investigation. but there's no sign of mechanical problems of a passenger plane crash that killed 71 people from moscow. >> russian investigators say the crew of the airliner didn't report technical issues before the disaster. the plane took off sunday morning and disappeared from radar minutes later. they found debris across a snowy field. a government official says there are no survivors. in arizona, the owners of a tourist helicopter is cooperating after three people died when the helicopter crashed in the grand canyon. four people survived. they were hurt. at least two badly burned. all four survivors are being

treated in las vegas at a trauma center. officials haven't shared the names of the people killed or hurt in the crash on saturday. happening tonight, storm damage repair work will shut down a portion of highway 1 in marin county. here's the stretch of highway that will be closed. it's at slide ranch. that closure from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. will let crews move a 100-ton crane into place. it will remove heavy equipment used to repair storm damage. a new competitor in the battle to make your house smattsma smarter. >> it was released friday. how does it stack up against the other smart speakers out there? becky worley put the home pod to the test. at 349 bucks, it is more expensive than amazon's alexa and google home. all three can do the same thing, including setting timers and controlling the thermostat. there is one thing, though, that makes apple's home pod stand out. that's the high end speaker.

hear about consequences the 49ers may have for yun of the players accused of domestic violence. >> these are the most serious charges he's faced but hardly the first time he's been in trouble. matt keller live at levi's stadium. matt? >> reporter: gorod morning. the 49ers have had 17 arrests since 2012. that's the most in the nfl. the latest rueben foster happening yesterday in los ga s gatos. >> calling saying her boyfriend beat her up. he has a ar-16 and a knife in the house. we have history here. >> officers arrested foster at the property on shannon road on suspicion of domestic violence, threats and possession of an assault weapon. one neighbor was surprised to see the police activity on his street. >> i saw five or six police cars in the driveway as we drove by. people were roaming around. >> foster had no comment leaving

the jail yesterday after posting $75,000 bail. the last month he was arrested in alabama for marijuana possession. last year at the nfl scouting combine, foster submitted a diluted urine sample and was later sent home after a run-in with a hospital worker. in a statement, bob lang said we take the matters of this nature seriously and are gathering all pertinent information. reporting live at levi's stadium. matt keller, abc 7 news. more fallout for the trump administration after the resignation of rob porter amid domestic abuse allegations. president trump is facing backlash for expressing sympathy for the former white house aide. mr. trump sent out a tweet saying people's lives are shattered and destroyed by a mere allegation. the white house is defending the president's message. >> the tweet could be applied if he's talking about his friend steve wynn. >> the former rnc finance chair

faces his own accusations of sexual misconduct by dozens of women. harvey weinstein facing new trouble. the new york state attorney general filed a civil rights lawsuit against weinstein and his production company. the suit alleges the company failed to protect its workers from sexual harassment, intimidation and discrimination. the suit claims that weinstein verbally abused workers, even threatening to kill some of them. weinstein's lawyers are denying the allegations. a shocking crime in san francisco. police arrested a man suspected of tossing a dog to its death from a parking garage. you're looking at a picture of a chihuahua named dunky. he died after being thrown from a garage in union square. at first, the owner thought the and somehow jumped to his death. but then the owner discovered someone had broken into his car. the dashboard camera captured the crime. police were able to i.d. the suspect and arrest him.

this man is in police custody following a high-speed car chase that started in oakland. he led authorities on a chase across multiple highways before stopping at deerfield drive in antioch yesterday. that's where officers used tear gas and the canine units. the man is wanted for carjacking. san francisco police want to spend $3.5 million to equip officers with stun guns. according to the examiner, the money is in the $623 million proposed budget approved by the police commission last week. in november, commissioners voted to implement stun guns by the entd of the year. they say they're a less lethal alternative to firearms. critics say stun guns have a history of causing severe injury or death. lafayette city council will consider the next steps for an anti-war memorial. this display of 4,000 white crosses on a hillside has been a fixture off deer hill road. the memorial was founded in 2006. she died six years ago and now her son, charles clark is

selling the five-acre lot. he offered to donate the hillside to the city. officials don't want it. the city council will discuss the issue at its meeting tonight. happening today, president trump will release his 2019 budget plan. one key proposal is $1.5 trillion to fix infrastructure across the country. it would provide $200 billion with state and local governments coming up with the rest. federal regulators are looking into how they missed the weaknesses of the nation's tallest dam. they want owners of the 1700 hydroelectric dams that it regulates to improve dam safety. this comes one year after both of the oroville dam spill ways failed following storms and triggered the evacuation of thousands of people. repairs are expected to cost $870 million. heads up heading to the dmv this week.

thieves stole about 40 feet of copper tubing from the roof of the oakland dmv. it caused water to cascade through the ceiling last wednesday and flooded the offers. they hoped to reopen today but pushed it back to next monday because the damage is worse than first thought. how to dress this morning. down in the south bay. the cool spot, los gatos and santa clara at 39. saratoga at 40. everybody else in the mid-40s until san jose and mountain view, about 48 degrees. we've got 41 in newark. look at the mid to upper 30s from lafayette, danville to livermore. mid-30s. napa 35. sebastopol 36. let's take a lock at what's going on. you can see the bay bridge right there. a few passing clouds and a little breeze. this is one of the bridges affected. the other is the san mateo bridge as we've got a northwest wind blowing down the peninsula and across that bridge. also in the higher elevations

watch out for the breezes this morning. just a little warmer for mass transit, especially in the deeper valleys. total sunshine today. kids, winter is back. it doesn't mean rain. means the temperatures are back. hopefully they won't forget the coat. 51 to 55 at 11:00. when the school day winds down around 3:00, we'll be around 56 to 59 degrees. wind gusts are going to pick up. along coast, they're 10 to 20 miles per hour by noon everywhere. they hold there during the afternoon hours. they'll taper everywhere in the evening. this concerns me. fairfield, napa and santa rosa. those will taper heading towards tomorrow. maybe restlessness up in the north bay tonight. here's sue with restlessness out there on the commute. >> always on the commute, yeah. we'll take a look at the san mateo bridge. high wind advisory is in effect here.

you're seeing brake lights across the cause way and up towards the high-rise. give yourself extra time. it's about a 20 to 22-minute drive from 880 towards 101. problem spot remains in the oakland side of things. the chp says the accident is closer to highway 13 which makes sense. that's why we're seeing the red sensors. we have a first reports of an accident westbound near golf links road. we'll check on that in a little bit. highway 4 at bay point, westbound, that's near bailey roadblocking a couple of lanes. the right lanes here. you're looking at very slow traffic. in fact, we're about 35 minutes to get into concord. th accident, north 101 near mckee finally cleared out of lanes. thank you. 6:38 now. wells fargo says it knows what went wrong in a mistake affecting nearly 40,000 people. the bank admitted last year that it signed up hundreds of thousands of auto loan customers

for insurance they didn't need. refund letters were supposed to be sent to affected customers. some had the wrong amounts. other people who didn't buy the insurance were told they would get a refund. the bank says the errors were due to a coding mistake. hi everyone. figure skater adam rippon is responding to controversy this morning. he had a stunning performance and walked away with the bronze yesterday. he has been at the center of attention during the games for two reasons. within the last 24 hours, there's been online backlash because he scored lower than skaters who actually fell during their routines. but also bus of his beef with vice president mike pence. he's openly gay and refused to meet with the vice president because of his stance on lbgt rights. here's what he had to say moments ago on gma. >> when the olympics are over, would you sit down with mike pence and what would you say to him? >> you know what, i personally don't have anything to say to

once again, eastbound now all lanes closed at nyack due to an accident. westbound is getting through. closer to home, multiple problems plaguing highway 580 this morning. westbound we had this accident near highway 13. we have another accident westbound near keller and also before golf links and now apparently westbound 580 near 24 an accident as well. i would suggest taking 880 this morning to avoid these multiple problems. thank you, sue. now you're looking at the inferno that erupted on a highway in china after a truck carrying liquefied natural gas crashed and exploded. it appears the people who shot the video were backing away from the massive flames trying to get to safety. despite the flames, no serious injuries here. two people were treated for minor burns. gas may soon go up to $4 a gallon. over the last three weeks, a gallon went up $.07 to $2.65. analysts say it's due to higher oil prices. if oil prices continue to go up,
