and no brake lights here yet. if your travels take you through concord and pleasant hill on to highway 24 you're looking at an eight-minute drive. checking in on our overall traffic map over the pass from tracy into dublin. otherwise it's green and good. we do have an accident on the peninsula 280 near magdalena, it's not blocking lanes. a high school teacher is accusing male students of sexually harassing her, everything from physical touching to obscene letters and phone calls. >> that teacher is at mt. tamalpais high school, the second teacher in the north bay to come forward with these accusations. reporter amy hollyfield is live in mill valley. amy? >> reporter: hi, reggie. eva rita is a math teacher here at mt. tamalpais high school. she says she has been sexually harassed more than a dozen times by students here at school. she says she finally felt the courage to come forward and speak publicly about this after

a teacher from redwood high school told her story at a board meeting last month about being sexually harassed. so she decided to do the same. she did it at last week's board meeting. here is video of her statement from the tam network. >> it's time i say me too. in my ten-years i have been i hn slandered by students that i made a drunken, sexual advance on him at a party. i have been touched more find the second dog. the cause of the fire is under investigation. a transgender woman claims a san francisco city worker refused to let her use a woman's restroom. it happened in 2016 during a public health department training. the woman in question worked with the department of police accountability. the complaint was filed by says the city refused to investigate. the city claims that her allegations are entirely -- are not entirely accurate, rather.

a state civil rights agency is now suing the city on her behalf. president trump is pushing his new infrastructure plan this morning sending out this tweet just before 3:00 a.m. saying the plan has received great reviews except for democrats. it is to fix america's aging roads and other infrastructure. only a fraction of that money will actually come from the federal government. the plan calls on states, local governments, even private companies to invest in projects nationwide. and the president's proposal might put projects like california's high-speed rail system at risk. right now the state believes high-speed rail will cost $64 billion. the president's budget leaves only $20 billion to spend nationwide for mass transit projects. investigators are looking into this man, 56-year-old ricardo tafolla rose for child molestation. he works as a counselor at the california school for the deaf in fremont. one possible victim has been identified. investigators want to know if

there are any more. rose has worked at the school since 1989 and is on paid administrative leave. he was arrested on friday. 5:05 now. an oakland police officer who graduated at the top of his academy class last year was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. according to our media partners, 25-year-old isaac goins was arrested over the weekend by chp and released just yesterday. a spokesman for mayor libby schaaf says the arrest is a disappointment to the city and they will let the investigation and legal process play out. if you have a ford or mazda, listen to this. more models were added to the do not drive list because of the recall. more than 33,000 ford ranger pickups and nearly 2,000 mazda b-series from the 2006 model year have dangerous air bag inflaters. safety officials say stop driving them right now and schedule a free repair immediately. the companies say dealers will tow the pickups to service bays

and provide loaner vehicles. two brothers are facing charges of fraud. police are calling them serial renters. the accusations against qadirs face back to 2015. they claim they showed landlords phony documents indicating they could pay the rent. they would then move in. the brothers would then bounce checks and damage the homes. they even lived rent free while the owner spent thousands to evict them. let's take a look at the change from yesterday to today. i want to focus on the north bay where the breezes have been blowing all night. napa and fairfield, 13 and 11 degrees warmer than this time yesterday. that puts napa at about 50 degrees right now. american canyon 48. we have that same temperature at san rafael. look at that, 52 in vallejo. you head up north where the winds are lighter, clear lake

40, rohnert park, and petaluma right now 42. san carlos, 52. redwood city and san ramone at about 39. if you're about to make the long trip from tracy, it's 43 out there and 44 in san jose. a look from mt. tam this morning and we'll talk about your commute planner which will be really good whether it's on the roads, mass transit, or taking the bay. just going to have a lot of sunshine today, glistening off the water and off the roads. let's talk about the east bay, break it down, the 12-hour planner. 44 degrees. look at all that sunshine. ten degrees warmer by 10:00. 54 and up to 57 by noon and then 60 degrees from 2:00 to 4:00. and you can see the stars and the drier air dropping down to 52 by 8:00. how about the south bay, 43 this morning. you can see we'll be at about 53 by 10:00 and then 60 at noon. mid-60s some of our warmer weather this afternoon will be down in the south bay and so will some of our more comfortable temperatures during

the evening hours about 58 to 55 degrees. when we come back we'll take a look at a roller coaster of temperatures on the accuweather seven-day forecast. here's sue. we'll focus in on our traffic maps and the slower spots including your drive up and over the altamont pass. speeds of, yeah, less than 20 miles an hour. it's a grind as usual. into livermore it looks pretty good. a look at our drive times in just a second to give you that accurate information. north 280 near magdalena, the car hit the center divide and you're getting by just fine. you have to get a tow truck there that may slow things down and we have road work southbound 13 near broadway terrace still seeing slow traffic around that area in the oakland hills, and there's your drive time just under 50 minutes on 580 west, highway 4 west and 101 south. we're learning more about the angry letter that led to donald trump jr.'s wife being taken to the hospital. >> she opened it and saw white powder. it did have a boston post mark.

>> reporter: in this morning's "gma first look" the president's son, don junior, and wife vanessa recovering from a scare. someone sending a suspicious envelope to their new york city apartment postmarked from boston. it was addressed to don junior but vanessa trump opening the letter to find a white powder inside. she called 911 just after 10:00 a.m. on monday telling police she felt dizzy. firefighters treating her and two others at the apartment, then taking them to this hospital in manhattan for evaluation and precautionary tests. the powder deemed to be nonhazardous and sources telling abc news it was just corn starch. don junior tweeting thankful that vanessa and my children are safe and unharmed after the incredibly scary situation that occurred this morning. we'll tell what you the white house is saying coming up at 7:00 a.m. with your "gma first look." it is 5:10.

when you look at santa rosa. more than a foot of rain absent from our sky during the winter season. san francisco nearly 9 inches, almost 8 in oakland and nearly 5 in san jose. 4 1/2 in livermore. sites that are usually very, well, a little bit behind the rest of us in the amount of rainfall received are still well behind with 4 1/2 to 5 inches of rain. we have several cold fronts in the accuweather seven-day forecast. here's reggie. we're putting you in the perspective of a rescue crew in the north bay. chp and the sheriff's office worked together to find a mountain biker after a reported collision in the open space preserve in fairfax. within minutes crews found the rider, loaded him in the helicopter, and then took him to a trauma center. the 23-year-old is being treated now for moderate to major injuries. a popular beauty store chain

denying accusations that it is reselling used makeup as new. a chicago-area woman is suing ulta now claiming the company repackages used cosmetics and puts them back on the shelves for customers to buy a. lawsuit filed by a california woman claims the exact same thing. this latest complaint cites employees. they say the company has a limit on how many returned items can be thrown away. ulta said we're aware of the lawsuit and intend to vigorously defend against the allegations. fake social media accounts misleading internet users for years. under a newly proposed senate bill the accounts known as bots would be clearly marked online to let users know who or what they're interacting with. a 2017 study that found as many as 15% of twitter accounts are actually bots. we've all received unwanted spam, texts, good old-fashioned junk mail.

look at the exploratorium this morning. look how glorious downtown san francisco looks as we look back from pier 15. sunny skies, bone-dry humidity today. calmer, clear and cooler. the heater may run more than it did last night and cold fronts without rain, that's what we have for the next seven days. temperatures today, to the high end. ukiah at 65. we have morgan hill down there at 64 along with santa rosa. san jose, you're at 65. the rest of us 61 to 63 degrees. let's start in san francisco and take a look at the 12-hour planner. by noon, 55. 4:00, 60. and at 7:00, 53. as far as your high temperatures go, we'll hit about 1:00 or 2:00. 62 in the mission bay. san francisco, downtown for some of the warm spots. as far as the peninsula, 42. 57 at noon. you see the temperatures are similar and 7:00 we're at about 53 degrees. let me show you the highs for

today. daly city and pacifica at 59. let's take a look at temperatures tonight. it's going to be chilly in our valleys with even some freezing cold temperatures possible in the shelter valleys of the north bay and in also the inland east bay. the rest of us pretty much in the 30s there. 39 at palo alto. my accuweather seven-day forecast a slight cooling tomorrow for valentine's day and a few high clouds. temperatures spring back to above average thursday. our warmest days friday and saturday. temperatures cooling once again. hi, sue. good morning. we'll go of our north bay commute arirs a little love. if your drive takes you from novato all the way into san francisco, 22-minute drive now with no delays. it's a straight shot. let's take a look at the golden gate bridge. light conditions over the waldo and through the robin williams tunnel. everybody is at the limit and

they have reconfigured your morning commute, four lanes southbound and two lanes in the northbound direction. overall once again our traffic maps are looking great. green means everybody is moving at the limit with, of course, our central valley commuters slowing. we do have no problems with ace train this morning. they are running on time. in fact, ace train number one is heading into vasco on time. a great way to avoid that big backup on 580. b.a.r.t. 43 trains and moving at the limit. no delays there. and muni not reporting any problems this morning. a great morning to get out on mass transit. >> thank you, sue. drones to the rescue are proving to be useful in fighting crimes and locating stranded people. a stranded hiker was found after falling at san francisco's mission peak. fremont firefighters started using drones a year ago. they've been used in nearly 100 incidents including a search to locate a car in alameda creek. >> it's a time saver and it's like having a superpower. it's being able to have vision

or a bird's eye view on parts of an incident you typically don't get. >> here is a good example. sunday a drone was launched to help police look for a burglar in the walmart parking lot in free throw month. it was able to spot the suspect a block and a half away hiding on top of a semi truck in an area officers driving by would not have been able to see. fast-thinking bay area company brought their solar technology to hurricane victims in puerto rico. san francisco-based sun run rushed nearly 15,000 pounds of solar and battery equipment to help with ongoing power outages and targeted fire stations unable to respond to emergencies because of blackouts. sun run says its residential units are light enough to be shipped in an emergency and powerful enough to provide power around the clock. it's 5:21 now. a new study looks at this question, what's worse for your brain, alcohol or marijuana? researchers found that chronic alcohol use resulted in lower

last night, and police have surrounded an apartment complex. i'm working on more details from our live desk. i'll have more in the next half hour. number three, the motive still unknown in a deadly stabbing in alameda county. a passing driver spotted the dying woman early yesterday morning. she was able to i.d. the suspected killers who were then arrested. number four, jose ines garcia zarate, the man accused of murdering kate steinle, is scheduled to enter a plea in federal court. he faces two federal criminal charges. "the examiner" reports he's expected to plead not guilty. she was sexually harassed by students more than a dozen times. they have appointed an officer to look into her claims. number six, we will receive all the sunshine that we can today and that will push temperatures in the low to mid-60s. number seven, we have a stalled car in the union city/newark area southbound 880

we have metering lights on at 5:27 this morning and it's all filled in now at the bay bridge toll plaza stacking up to the mcarthur maze and so that was a drive time that is definitely going to be increasing as the delay gets bigger. highway 4, hercules into san francisco now 30 minutes and about 15 of that is waiting here at the toll plaza to get on through to the upper deck. we do have slow traffic on the altamont pass which is very typical, about a 45 to 50-minute drive to get into dublin/pleasanton. we have this stalled big rig near alvarado boulevard that has been cleared out of lanes but as you can see traffic is stacking up to highway 92. i want to let you know what's happening in contra costa county, authorities right now investigating an incident that happened overnight. you can see this new video from overnight, the fire department dispatched to a medical call on

clayton road in concord about 9:15 last night. we saw a heavy police presence there around a particular apartment complex. although it's still very unclear exactly what happened we do have calls into the concord police department right now for more details as soon as we get an update, i'll let you know. >> all right, jessica, thank you. 5:32. happening today the man acquitted of murdering kate steinle is expected to enter a plea in federal court. jose ines garcia zarate faces two federal charges for possessing a gun as a felon and for being an undocumented immigrant in possession of a firearm. he could get up to ten years in federal prison. "the examiner" reports garcia zarate is expecte to plead not guilty. he is expected to appear at 10:30 in san francisco. caltrain says service is back to normal following a collision between a train and vehicle. this happened at charleston road and palo alto. the crash sparked a fire. you can see it in the middle of this picture.

everyone got out okay and no one on the train was hurt. several trains had to be held up to clean this up. new details on a scary flight from orange county to san jose. >> everybody is okay but they had to go down the emergency slides to get here. reporter matt keller is live at mineta-san jose. matt? >> reporter: reggie, the passengers were put on another plane and landed here safely in san jose just after midnight. last night scary moments for them as they were evacuated from their plane in orange county. literally emergency evacuating our flight because it's smoking. girl, my heart is like >> reporter: frightening for these passengers. the troubles started as the flight was pushing back from the gate at john wayne airport. ground crew told the captain there was a fire at the back of the plane.

evacuation slides were deployed and all passengers and crew had to slide down to get off the plane. >> although some ground crews had seen some smoke coming from the tail, which is where the auxiliary power unit is, the pilots had very quickly pulled the fire extinguishing system and if there was any fire back there it was extinguished quickly. >> reporter: one passenger told us they could see and smell the smoke. nobody wept to the hospital. matt keller, abc news. reuben foster is reported his girlfriend says he dragged her on sunday morning. the report says the encounter left the woman hurt. the extent of her injuries is not known. the woman told dispatchers during a 911 call foster owns several semiautomatic rifles. officers recovered one firearm.

foster met with team officials yesterday. the niners say they're still gathering information about the case. foster is currently free on bail. a few words from a dying woman helped officers catch who killed her. a passer driver spotted the victim bleeding badly and crawling along tesla road in the hills east of livermore around 2:00 in morning. she was able to tell police what happened before paramedics rushed her to the hospital where she died. her information led deputies to a man and woman in modesto. no word yet on a motive. the u.s. education department will no longer investigate transgender bathroom complaints. the obama administration ordered schools to allow students to use bathrooms that align with their gender identity. president trump rescinded the order soon after he took office. the white house now says it's up to individual school districts to decide how they'll handle the issue. civil rights groups say the administration's move to endanger the welfare of

transgender students. a racially insensitive chant during a basketball game has turned into a teaching moment. the chant was aimed at students at mills high school which is a majority asian-american population. this happened during a game against burlingame high school. students from mills were taunting their opponents' fans with the chant, we can't hear you. some burlingame students chanted back something many interpreted as anti-asian. >> people from our school shouted back, we can't see you, referring to the eye shape and eye size of the predominantly asian population at mills. >> a lot of classroom conversations took place. each class has a student representative. and so classrooms were engaged in the conversation. >> student leaders have apologized to mills students and the district administration says mills handled it graciously. happening today a permit center will open in sonoma county to help survivors start to rebuild.

the center will speed up the permitting process for homeowners of 3,000 residential properties that were destroyed or damaged. it's located next to the sonoma offices on ventura avenue in santa rosa. the county will hold a rebuilding community meeting on thursday. let's talk about temperatures along the east bay shoreline, quite a spread from 39 in union city to alameda at 53. berkeley also in the 50s. everybody else pretty of in the mid to upper 40s. across the bay and see 51 in san francisco. look at san carlos, 41 degrees. 44 in mountain view, san jose. to livermore, it's 41. 37 in pleasanton. the breezes are keeping fairfield and napa in the upper 40s. this is the way it looks at 101 and 880. you can see the morning commute in the south bay. if you're exercising today, very dry air outside so your lips and fingers may get chapped. just awash in sunshine.

at the beaches you'll have all that sunshine, slightly warmer weather and will feel even warmer, too, when you factor in the fact that no breezes today. let's talk about san francisco. 48 at 7:00 this morning. we'll be flirting with 50 and drop down to 55 at 6:00 and 51 at 8:00. so a light jacket if you're heading out and celebrating this evening. 44 at 8:00 in our east bay valleys to 54 at 10:00. noon, we'll be at 60. you can see the mid-60s. look at that. all the sunshine mother nature will give us today and then the stars will drop us from about 58 at 6:00 to about 81 at 8:00. so, again, a light jacket if you're heading out this evening. now when we come back, there's no chance of rain the next seven days but there is a chance of wide temperatures in my forecast. here's sue. a live look at the bay bridge and the western side coming into san francisco where traffic is flowing nicely headed westbound. eastbound, though, a stall near treasure island so the bridge

control will be pushing that off. i don't know if you can see the pdeck but they are slowing just to get the stall out of there in the way right lane. elsewhere we have that earlier problem with the stalled van. that was southbound 880 near alvarado pushed off to the shoulder and cleared off the chp log. we are seeing a lot of slow traffic southbound from highway 92 and westbound 4 near hillcrest. apparently a box of insulation spreading out through all lanes. hopefully they'll have to clear that out. they'll make a quick traffic break and that should be done rather quickly here. we'll check back. >> sue, thank you. we want to hear your thoughts now. students at an east bay school have pulled "the star spangled banner" from school rallies. >> you can vote on your phone. let us know what you think. you don't have to register or download anything. it's really quick. we already have the poll going.

31% say you agree with removing the song and most of you say you do not. san ramone's california high removed the song because of what many considered to be racist lyrics in verses that are not actually sung. in a letter to the school paper the student body president noted the third verse which in part says no refuge could save the hireling and slave. she wrote this verse translated finds joy in the killing of african-americans. to think that our nation's anthem once had the words slave and land of the free in the same sentence leaves me speechless. other students have a different take. >> the importance of singing the national anthem to honor and respect those that have died and sacrificed their lives to protect the freedoms us americans take for granted every day is metropolitan more importa -- much more important and unifying issue. >> a spokesperson says they just learned about the student leadership's position on the national anthem and is looking into it. >> no at 70%, yes at 30%.

our deepest valleys in the north bay could touch freezing. here's my accuweather seven-day forecast. one of those dry cold fronts, tomorrow we're cooler with a little less sunshine. a warming trend that will bring us to near 70 friday and saturday and another dry cold front will drop our temperatures back to affect by monday. let's see what sue is watching. checking on the san mateo bridge. if your commute takes you from 880 over to foster city, you're moving at a nice clip across the flat section there. i'm not seeing any brake lights. about an 18 to 19-minute drive from 880 over to 101. a couple of problem spots on the altamont pass we just now have an accident reported westbound near grant line. they are stuck in the third lane from the left and we are seeing delays building in an already slow commute and insulation in all lanes, westbound 4 near hillcrest.
