60s. and we will enjoy upper 60s for the warmest locations later today. we are talking about a ten to 15 degree drop for the second half of the weekend. low snow levels. and the accuweather seven-day forecast headlines it all come up in a few minutes. lisa. thanks. this morning a call for action following a difficult week in parkland, florida. >> absolutely unacceptable. >> he is talking about how the fbi failed to act on continues about the stoneman high school shooter. last night the president and first lady visited the sheriff's office and hospital. they did not visit the community of parkland. maggie rauly has the latest. >> reporter: the president and first lady grieving with parkland friday night. >> very sad something like that to happen. >> reporter: offering their support to a community still raw after wednesday's school

shooting took the lives of 17 people. two of them both teenagers, laid to rest. >> what if that was your child that was shot three times n the heart n the hand n the head. think about it. >> reporter: the alleged killer pleading guilty in order to avoid the death penalty. no word whether the state will accept the deal. >> as the community hurts so do we. >> reporter: now the fbi reveals that on january 5th a person close to nikolas cruz called the fbi tip line with information about cruz's gun ownership, his desire to kill people, erratic behavior, and disturbing social media posts, and this, the potential of him conducting a school shooting. the fbi says the information should have been assist cessed as a potential threat to life but no further investigation was conducted at that time. students here are in shock. >> 17 innocent lives were taken from us because they failed to

do this. they fail our school. and they failed our hearts. >> reporter: the hoounts students here are heart broken and grieving. many are also angry and have take tony the streets to protest stricter gun reform. president trump was asked during his visit about gun laugs and he had no comment. >> this recent school shooting has put the spotlight on how agencies handle tips and warnings from the public. not only did the fbi receive warnings about the shooter months in advance there had been a long history of disturbance at the home where he lived. abc news anchor dion lim explains how his potential for violence slipped through the cracks. >> we truly regret any additional pain this has caused. >> reporter: a stunning admission from the federal bureau of investigation friday over the handling of not one but two overlooked tips regarding morge restoneman high school

shooting nikolas cruz. social media posts showed his obsession with violence and how he wanted to be a professional school shooter. all of this six weeks before 14 students and three staff were gunned down. abc news spoke with rik smith. >> they are supposed to disseminate that to a feel office, miami in this case. they decide to do a background, contact the school, interview the suspect hopefully neutralizing this. >> reporter: deputies were dispatched to cruz's home over 20 times in recent years. >> every one of these for service will be looked at and scrutinized. >> reporter: the congresswoman says this is a prime example of how different agencies on a state and federal level must learn to work together. >> i think that kind of a multiagency effort and coordination and communication is going to be key as we move forward. >> reporter: how that will happen, all parties agree s yet to be determined. in san francisco, dion lim, abc7

following a shooting in the pamgts of golden gate park. >> this is preliminary information. what we have is that there was some type of argument that ensued between group of people. >> reporter: police say the argument and shooting happened in the panhandle, the suspect ran north and carjacked a getaway vehicle. the stolen suv is a silver toyota forerunner. 7 aob 816. the driver is okay. police say they don't know yet if the victims and suspect knew each other. people who frequent the park say it's not uncommon to see a group gathering near stannion and oak streets. >> it has concrete. so it's kind of a grotto in the trees and there are often people there, often homeless people, you know, just kind of hanging out. >> reporter: investigators have not identified either victim nor confirmed if the men are part of the homeless population who live in the area. in san francisco, abc7 news. a powerful earthquake shook

mexico last night causing damage, but no known deaths. the magnitude 7.2 earthquake hit the state of oaxaca in southeastern mexico. this video from mexico city shows light fixtures rocking hundreds of miles away from the epicenter. nearly 100 homes and businesses have lost power. some people reported on twitter that they felt the earthquake in los angeles. last september two earthquakes in mexico killed more than 450 people. san francisco police are asking for help finding a man suspected of killing his grandparents in oklahoma. 45-year-old harlan fosse is said to be an experienced outdoorsman and could be living in a park or wooded area. he was last seen near aquatic park on january 10th. investigators in okay owe found his grandparents' bodies in november along the side of a road. fosse reportedly told coworkers that living with the couple was quote driving him crazy. 5:07 is our time. three people are okay this

morning after getting rescued from a cliff above a san francisco beach. sky 7 caught the dramatic rescue as it unfolded yesterday above marshal's beach. the hikers got stuck of a they took what they thought was a shortcut. they called for help with a cell phone. each them got a ticket from park police for creating a hazardous condition, a $250 fine. at long last, valencia road near valencia elementary school was compromised during last winter's destructive rains and had to be closed all but cutting off the community. abc7 news reporter katie marzullo has more. >> we couldn't go to work. we couldn't get the kids to school. it was scary. >> reporter: he lives in rolling green estates in aptos, along ag valencia road, which was closed since last winter's storms.

>> i had to go eight mile out of my way to go to work. >> reporter: it is also the best way to get to the elementary school. the closure was such an inconvenience all other students were relocated last year. the road sank after the culvert underneath it collapsed under the rain soaked soil. >> we had to dig all the dirt out, build retaining walls so people could work down there and replace the culvert. >> reporter: it took over a year and $4 million but the road is back in business. terry meade wasn't expecting it friday evening. >> it felt hike a christmas present. better than before. it should be able to last longer and if we get storms like we did last year we will be fully prepared. >> reporter: last winter's rain did $122 million in daniel at more than 22 cites in the county. the five biggest repairs are now

a bang. abc7 news was at san francisco's portsmouth square to you are ear in the year of the dog. not only were there fire crackers, but also a 288-foot golden dragon. this was a small preview of the larger chinese new year parade coming one week from today. happening in the south bay the mayor will help clean up the system he is hosting a trash pick up event at 9:00 a.m. in the city's mount pleasant neighborhood. it's part of his beautify sj campaign. this is video from last year's cleanup. san jose has seen an increase in illegal dutching in recent years but the mayor promised to clean up the city. this holiday weekend is expected to be one of the coldest of the year. don't forget about your pets. officials in contra costa county say bring them in at night. if you are going to keep them in at night you should make sure they have good bedding and

into monday. along the coast, diablo range and the santa cruz mountains. not a lot of moisture. freezing cold morning in the wake of the front come monday, tuesday, and wednesday morning. wait until you see the tchs. in term of the warmth that's today in the south bay. looking at san jose. a high of 17 today. average high, 62. this looks familiar. look what happens tomorrow. 58 the high on monday. 55. 57 on tuesday. throughout the day tomorrow we have got the cloud, the chilly weather. low snow levels. you can see up in lake county. then by late sunday notice we have got a little precip along the coast. but it doesn't amount to much. we are clear by monday morning. but that sets the stage for the extremely cold air in place. along with sunday we are looking at the gusty winds. 20 to 30 miles an hour along the coast. really, all around the bay we have got gusty northwesterly winds.

close to the kremlin he's known as putin's chef. the russian operation expansive. >> it employed hundreds of people in its on line operations with an annual budget of millions of dollars. >> reporter: they sent operatives to america, traveling throughout nine states. >> in order to hide the russian origins of their activities they allegedly purchased space on computer servers located here in the united states in order the setup a virtual private network. >> reporter: and that's not all. the russians allegedly set up campaign-style rallies inside the u.s. in battleground states like north carolina and virginia. this rally titled florida goes trump less than three months before the election was organize by the russians. >> russians also recruited and paid real americans to engage in political activities. >> reporter: american voters had no idea the russians were behind them as they joined what they thought were real political groups. groups with names like secured

borders, the russian imposers were connecting with what's described as unwitting individuals associated with the trump campaign and other political activists. >> the defendants allegedly conducted what they called information warfare against the united states with the stated goal of spreading distrust towards the candidates and the political systemgeneral. >> reporter: the question now, will president trump still call the mueller investigation a witch-hunt? as recently as july saying this about the russians. that it could be someone else. >> well, i think it was russia, and i think it could have been other people in other countries. >> reporter: but the indictment makes clear the russians were launching attacks aimed at quote disparaging hillary clinton and supporting the presidential campaign of then candidate done j. our team obtaining a hidden camera look inside the

operation. they kicked dan harris out. but mueller indicates their work was already done. more breaking news, mueller announced a guilty plea of a man from southern california who admitted to committing traud by helping the russians set up fake american identities. pierre thomas, abc news, washington. next, the new report of an alleged affair between a playboy playmate and president donald trump before he was elected the office. the report in "the new yorker" allegedly involves money spent just before the election for her story which was never published. abc senior white house correspondent cecilia vega has the story. >> reporter: an abrupt change of plans. president trump bown for florida boarding marine one alone. the first lady was supposed to be with him. instead she left separately and met him at air force one. it comes as the president faces explosive new allegations about a nine-month affair with a

"the new yorker" reports the pre met the woman in 2006 at the playboy mansion where he was taping an episode of the apprentice. >> come on over. wow. >> reporter: the magazine obtained what they say is eight pages of mcdougal's writings detailing the alleged affair which took two years after donald and marshall married when their son was just an infant. quote, he offed me money. i looked at him, plus felt sad. plus said no thanks, i'm not that girl. i slept with you because i like you, not for money. he told me, you are special. in 2015, at the time of a republican debate mcdougal tweeted this old photo. according to the new yorker, the national enquirer, run by david pecker, who calls president trump a personal friend paid

mcdougal $150,000 for the exclusive rights to her story. but they never printed it. the journalist who broke the story says the enquirer's motive was clear. >> people in tabloid business call this catch and kichl it's acquiring a story to bury it. >> reporter: the report claims the affair happened around the same time mr. trump allegedly became involved with adult film actress stormy daniels. this week, the president's long time personal attorney acknowledged he paid daniels $130,000 before the election. he has not said whether the president knew about that payment. daniels staying mum. >> do you have a non-disclosure agreement? >> do i? >> in florida, the president and first lady walked off air force one together. cecilia vega, abc news. a state lawmaker who was suspended due to a sexual

misconduct allegation is suing arguing he is being treated differently than a white colleague. he claims while he was suspended for the allegations against him, bob hurtsberg who is white was not asked to step aside despite allegations made against him had. he has been accused of sexually harassing three female staffers and firing another who reported one of the instances. hertzberg is accused of making at least three female colleagues uncomfortable with hugs. sports meets advertising. five people from the bay area will compete in the world sign spining championships. it's not as easy as it looks. professional sign spinners break dance while keeping up the energy. more than 100 will compete today in las vegas. last year a sign spinner from san francisco won the championship title with a $5,000 prize. still ahead on abc7

today. we'll see sun today. how warm will it get? lisa argen will let us now in our accuweather seven-day forecast. breaking news out of the richmond district. water gushing from a water main break is flooding great highway near balboa street. the water main burst at 3:00 this morning. nearby residents lost water service. officials are currently working to stop the flooding and clean up that street. happening today, thousands of people will strip down to their underwear in san francisco, all in the name of charity. it's the annual cupid's undery run. this year the goal is to raise nearly $60,000 towards research on why tumors grow on nerves throughout the body. it is a genetic disorder that affects one in 3,000 children. so far they have raised $33,000. san francisco is one of 30 cities taking part. the race begins at noon at pedro's cantina on king street in soma. that will be fun. >> yeah, little cold maybe. >> i was going the say good luck to them. >> not as cold as we'll see
