morning. lows tonight, close to freezing inland. the cloud cover will keep temperatures up in the mid 30s to low 40s in most areas. notice that green. there's wintry showers on the way once again wednesday, thursday and monday and tuesday. remember yesterday in berkeley? we had the hail and the snow in the mountains. we could do that again. we'll talk about that coming up. >> all right. thank you. with temperatures this low normally neighborhoods in the bay area are seeing unusual sights and many residents are having a tough time coping, especially those less fortunate. matt keller is in san jose at a warming center. matt? >> the warming center here at the campbell community center is scheduled to open up at 1:30. temperatures are cool now. this morning it was literally freezing. heading back to work after a long holiday weekend is tough enough. add in a freeze warning and getting up was not a given.

around santa clara county. go to abc7news.com for more. >> matt, thank you. you can keep track of the cold temperatures where you live with the abc 7 news app. new at 11:00, the men charged in the deadly oakland warehouse fryire entered a pleaf not guilty to 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter. they were were the only two charged in the 2016 fire. they essentially operated as managers of the property. the city of oakland, the fire department and the building ispectors are the criminals says their attorney. the case could go to the jury in july. the red cross is helping a family after their home was destroyed by fire in walnut creek this morning. it happened on springbrook road. neighbors heard a loud boom before flames devoured the

house. >> reporter: look at this huge fire, you can barely see the house. this is video taken by firefighters when they arrived to springbrook spring in walnut creek before 4:00 this morning. >> when we arrived, we had fire coming out of all of the windows and doors. it was a well involved fire by the time we got here. unfortunately the majority of the house is destroyed. >> the man living across the street heard some kind of a boom and saw the fire. >> i heard this big explosion. i thought like a boom noise. a jet of flame was coming out to the left of the house. a huge jet of flame. >> reporter: he says the fire moved quickly. >> it did. it was huge. it was pretty big. i was very worried about my friends next door and their dogs. so i texted them, i made sure they're all right. i calmed my dogs down. just waited it out. >> reporter: there were three generations of people inside

this home when the fire started. four adults and one child. one person was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. another adult was found out here in the front yard and needed help getting away from the flames. >> we had another adult who recently had a stroke and was unable to move about very well. so we had to move him out of the way. >> reporter: firefighters think they pinpointed where in the house the fire started, but they don't know what triggered it. developing news out of florida. right now students are headed to their state's capital to rally for gun control. this is a live picture of a bus that's taking a group from parkland to tallahassee. the rally is in response to last week's deadly shooting. this morning we're learning what administrators at the accused gunman's previous school knew about him. >> reporter: from survivors to

pay for the groundbreaking event. our children's lives depend on it. a devastating story out of ohio. officials say a seventh grader shot himself inside a school bathroom this morning. it happened at jackson memorial middle school outside of cleveland. the boy was rushed to a hospital. we're waiting for an update on his condition. it's not clear whether the shooting was accidental or intentional. no one else was hurt. special counsel robert mueller has filed new charges in the russian investigation. alex van der zwaan did not turn over an e-mail related to the investigation. baseball hall of famer orlando cepeda is being treated by doctors after being rushed to a bay area hospital. the giants confirmed that he is in the hospital, because

we weren't the only ones colder than average this morning. when i checked at about 6:00, the temperature was 1 in tahoe. it's so cold now they're making snow in the middle of the day.

they have a chance of thundersnow for thursday, 3 to 6 inches of snow through friday morning. looks like it will be drier saturday. another 2 to 4 inches possible sunday and into monday. something to keep an eye on. the snow now is really dry. let's talk about what's going on back here. everybody in the 40s, except for san jose, you're at 50 degrees. dress accordingly if you're heading out. beautiful shot of alcatraz. mostly sunny sky, chance of a shower late their evening. clouds will linger, not quite as cold tomorrow morning. we have chances for wintry precipitation like we saw in berkeley yesterday. 49 in half moon bay. san jose is the warm spot, 56. most of us, 50, 54 for a high this afternoon. here's how it breaks down. even at noon, still mainly in the 40s. low to mid 50s at 4:00.

low to mid 40s at 8:00. inland, much cooler than around the bay and the coast tonight. we could have a couple of areas still freeze inland during the overnight hours. here's a couple chunks of energy coming our way. you can see them via the radar returns. let's jump ahead to 5:00. nothing happens the next several hours. look at that next storm coming down. scattered showers near the coast from midnight through 7:00. northern napa county into lake county, there's a possibility of snow showers. that will turn over to scattered showers, random at best. during the overnight, that front will sweep through with light isolated showers. look at what happens thursday. another chunk comes through. the wintry mix-up in lake county during the morning commute. should have put a pause point in there. like yesterday, a few showers will develop around the bay.

significant weight. the conclusion, cut back on added sugar, refined grains and processed foods. concentrate on eating vegetables and whole foods. when it comes to living a long life alcohol may be more beneficial than hitting the treadmill. yeah. a new study claims drinking a couple of glasses of beer or wine a day is more important than exercise for living past 90. a specialist in neurology from the university of california tells the independent newspaper that she believes modest drinking improves longevity. the study shows people who drink two glasses of beer or wine a day were 20 mrs. le% less likel experience premature death. find out how deep "black

we're learning the new marvel movie "black panther" was more of a hit than first thought. bog iger released staggering numbers this morning. he says "black panther" opened to a record breaking 2$242 million domestically over the holiday weekend. that makes it the second highest four-day opening in movie history. globally the movie has raked in 4$426 million. iger says in his 12 years as ceo he has never seen such an overwhelming outpouring of genuine excitement and praise for a movie. disney is the is the is the is e abc. >> i have not seen it yet. i hope to this weekend. >> all of us, thanks for joining us.
