president skooen. n -- the scene. that breaking news reverend billy graham has died. he was known as america's pastor. often speaking to the nation's presidents during their darkest moments. he counseled presidents from both parties. he was the most widely heard christian evangelist in history. he appeared in the bay area at least a half dozen times. graham died at his home in north carolina. we're starting to get some reaction now on twitter. let me show you on my computer. congressman from louisiana, ralph abraham says billy graham touched the lives of millions of americans. he was a tremendous christian leader and will be greatly missed. this tweet from ron de santis, a lawmaker there. a good and faithful servant. he fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith. nothing yet from the president or the white house. i have been checking that.

i'll let you know if we get an you date. graham was 99 years old. more bay area cities and landmarks are tired of your game of drones. >> a battle against the flying bots. amy hollyfield is live for us in sausalito. >> reporter: someone tweeted me and said a drone can ryne a perfect sunset. behind me here at the golden gate bridge, they say it can be more serious than that. they have said that drones are not allowed here. this bridge is a no-drone zone. a bridge spokesperson says they are a hazard to drivers and visitors. according to the marin independent journal, drones have been seen flying behind security fences and past sensors here at the bridge where photographs aren't allowed because of security purposes. according to the article, the city of sausalito is now getting in on the game and they are going to be tightening rules around drones. they've passed a new law that

puts restrictions on drones. here are a few of them. no recording from a drone will be allowed where reasonable expectations -- where there is a reasonable expectation of privacy. drones can't be used to harass or intimidate a person and can't get closer than 25 feet to people. this is going to be in sausalito. they put in a law that you can't operate a drone drunk. violators can be fined and police can confiscate your drone. amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. quickly want to show you these new images from tallahassee, florida. that's where students from soapman douglas high school who survived the school shooting are rallying at the state's capitol. you see them holding signs up here. they're trying to get lawmakers to do something go guns. they want to ban the assault-style rifle used to kill 17 people at a high school. they want lawmakers to do

something sometime soon and they held this rally this morning on the steps of the capitol building. they marched from the civic center to the capitol. they have scheduled meetings this morning. i'll update the story as we get more images from that area. back to you. >> thank you, jessica. the u.s. military is honoring three shooting victims for their heroism. all of them members of the junior rochlt otc program at stoneman douglas high school. want to tell you about peter wong. he received a past hume us appointment to the u.s. military academy at west point. this is a rare honor. the 15-year-old dreamed of attending that academy and served in the -- he held a door open so people could escape from the gunfire. he was buried with a medal pinned to his uniform. a legislator fired after claiming that two of the student survivors were quote, actors that traveled to variou crises

when they happen. kelly reported e-mailed the tampa bay times saying that these two, emma gonzalez and david hawg were not real students. it was investigated and denounced kelly's comments and says kelly has been fired. he defended himself on ac 360 last night. >> these people saying that is disturbing. i'm not an actor in any sense, way, shape or form. i'm not a crisis actor. i had to witness this and live through this. i continue to have to that. >> hawg says the fact that donald trump jr. liked the post calling him an actor is, quote, disgusting. students at several high schools around the bay area are planning walkouts next month to pressure congress to enact stricter gun laws. the walkouts are planned for march 14th at 10:00 a.m. this is, of course, to commemorate the one-month anniversary of the shootings. it's going to happen from oakland to orinda, palo alto to

mountain view. these are some of the schools taking part. they will last 17 minutes in memory of the 17 people killed at stoneman douglas high school. it could happen to anyone. a man walking to the amtrak station in emeryville was shot in the head during a robbery. listen to this. this morning, 26-year-old alex ma dais remains in critical condition. he was walking with i a friend to the train station on the night of february 11th. when someone behind them yelled give me your money. he didn't know the guy had a gun. he kept walking. that's when he was shot in the head. police are looking for the gunman. they're asking anyone who may have surveillance video of the suspect to contac investigators. officials at a south bay catholic girls school making a big change after months of sexual misconduct accusations. >> people are about to have charges dropped. the arctic door remains open with these weak cold moisture starved storms bringing us chances of rain. chances of rain. not only today and

new developments involving a san jose catholic school rocked by allegations of sexual misconduct by teachers. they will create a new and independent office to handle claims in the future. officials at the all girls private school say the goal is to improve. >> several students have claimed sexual misconduct. the announcement is after officials spent months insisting they had sound policies in place for protecting students from sexual harassment and abuse. >> one of the professors received an anti-semitic threat. the professor was targeted with

an anonymous hateful and threatening message. campus police are investigating. the letter added that hateful messages targeted at marginalized groups are more common than anyone would like to believe. >> former head of oakland schools has been fired as the head of washington, d.c. schools. antoine wilson left before his contract was up. he's now accused of using his clout to get his daughter transferred to a better school in d.c. >> it became very clear to me over the last several days that chancellor wilson would be unable to successfully lead the schools having not regained the community's trust. >> the mayor said wilson is a good educator who made a mistake. twitter up dafted guidelines on how to handle tweets or accounts that encourage others to hurt themselves or commit suicide. it follows last week's tweet by twitter safety that said, it's against our rules to encourage others to harm themselves.

president trump tweeted moments ago, let me show you here on my computer, he said the great billy graham is dead. there was nobody like him. he will be missed by christians and all religions. a very special man. reverend jesse jackson also tweeted out this morning saying, blessed with length of years and service, reverend graham helped a lot of people against a backdrop of southern culture. he's on the plus side of history. may his soul rest in peace. reggie? >> thank you, jessica. coyote creek overflooded its banks a year ago devastating several neighborhoods. a year later, they're still hurting there. >> matt keller is live in san jose. >> reporter: good morning, reg. it's hard to believe it's been a year since the coyote creek flooded here in san jose. the work continues in the rock spring neighborhood. this was a hard hit area. the streets were flooded. cars damaged beyond repair and residents evacuated from their homes. you remember the images from that day. rescue boats had to get people

out to safety. in the end, 14,000 people were displaced. flood losses have been estimated at $73 million. 150 residents are suing the city. the county and the water district but for many, it's the mental toll that has been the hardest to deal with. >> i don't know what to say to the kids when they ask me it's going to rain, could this happen to us again? >> after the floods, $6.8 million was raised for flood assistance. parents and neighbors of a school established a donation center and raised $30,000 for gift cards. 100 families at that school were flood victims. this morning a special event will be held to honor those who helped the flood victims at the school. that event starts at 8:45 this morning. reporting live in san jose, matt keller, abc 7 news. now a quick update on what's happening this very minute in tallahassee, florida. these kids that you see right here that left the civic center

.s. supreme court refused to hear two challenges by gun rights -- that means two key rulings by the 9th u.s. circuit court of appeals in san francisco will remain in place. one upholds california's $19 fee for the sale and transfer of guns. the other, the court said that california can require people to wait ten days to buy a gun, even if they already owned one and their background check was completed. san francisco-based uber may be heading to court over accusations from its own drivers who claim they were stiffed on fare money. the examiner reports a judge has officially given the green light on the class action lawsuit. the breach of contract suit was filed in may in u.s. district court in san francisco. it alleges when uber implemented a feature called up front pricing in 2016, it didn't pay drivers their fair is share. sonoma county was not prepared in emergency response to last october's north bay

wildfires. the head of office at emergency services is finishing a review. yesterday he told county officials in a closed door meeting that emergency staff was not up to speed on the most effective method of reaching people in danger. he also said that authorities were slowed down by a warning system that was not well-coordinated between various local agencies. the final report expected to be released soon. a family says new video showing the chilling moments when a b.a.r.t. police officer shot and killed a man proves its case. last month, saalim tindle was shot a krors from the b.a.r.t. station. the video you're about to see is graphic. >> abc 7 news obtained the recording of the original which was shown to tindle's family by oakland police. his family insists it proves the 28-year-old was unarmed and shot in the back on january 23rd.

a b.a.r.t. police officer reportedly heard a gunshot on 7th street. when he arrived, he claims he saw tindle and another man fighting on the ground. it's horrible to see anything tragic like that. when it's your little brother, when he's not at fault, it's truly more heart-wrenching. >> tindle's family filed a claim against b.a.r.t. and hopes the d.a. files criminal charges against the officer. mendocino county man suspected of kidnapping his girlfriend is under arrest this morning. she's still missing. police found him in the rural community of -- he's in custody facing kidnapping charges. 23-year-old khadijah britton has not been seen since february 9th. they're still actively searching for her. her family is now offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to finding her. i'm still tracking sprinkles to a light shower.

and on almost every one of those calls pg&e is responding to that call as well. and so when we show up to a fire and pg&e shows up with us it makes a tremendous team during a moment of crisis. i rely on them, the firefighters in this department rely on them, and so we have to practice safety everyday. utilizing pg&e's talent and expertise in that area trains our firefighters on the gas or electric aspect of a fire and when we have an emergency situation we are going to be much more skilled and prepared to mitigate that emergency for all concerned. the things we do every single day that puts ourselves in harm's way, and to have a partner that is so skilled at what they do is indispensable, and i couldn't ask for a better partner.
