a fire in san francisco, smoke rising in delores park. we hear it's gone to a second alarm in a multistory building. it's on sanchez street by 18th street. smoke has been rising for several minutes from the scene. the fire started about 10:30 this morning. and sky7 is at the scene. here's a live look. we will keep an eye on this fire. we'll have any updates for you as soon as those are available. we are calling in for more information, including injuries or the cause.

and woke us up at 3:00, 4:00 in the morning. it was intense. >> it's nuts. we have a little dog that sleeps on our bed with us and he freaks out all the time. >> reporter: several earthquakes hit early morning on tuesday, prompting the school district to put school districts on alert after the long president's day weekend. >> we sent an e-mail to our schools asking them to do an earthquake drill this week. it's a good opportunity to remind students and staff about our procedures. >> reporter: then another round of rattling this morning. >> when i came into my office this morning, i was surprised to see that there were some pictures that were hanging on the wall down and some others that were on the shelves. >> reporter: strong enough to knock things around, but not strong enough to scare people who know this is part of living here. >> any area you live, there's stuff that happens. so, if we had to pick and choose, i would rather pick here than anywhere else, so it's okay. >> reporter: no major damage has been reported, no injuries have been reported. people here just telling us they hope this doesn't mean the big one is coming. live in danville, amy

shooting. he pushed his controversial gun proposal about arming select teachers. abc news, washington. to developing news out of parkland, florida. this morning teachers and staff are returning to stoneman douglas high school for the first time since the mass shooting there. and they're allowed to collect their belongings from their classrooms. students won't be back for class until tuesday. a former student shot and killed 17 people last week. the broward county sheriff is outraged after learning the armed school resource deputy on campus failed to act. he says the deputy was caught on camera standing outside the building. >> what i saw was a deputy arrive at the west side of building 12, take up a position and he never went in. >> what shut he have done? >> went in. address the killer. killed the killer. >> the deputy resigned after he

was suspended without pay. new details in the russia investigation. former trump campaign aide richard gates could plead guilty as soon as this afternoon. abc news obtained a letter gates sent to family and friends this morning that says he plans to plead guilty. the terms of the deal are still unclear. special counsel robert mueller filed tax and bank fraud charges against gates and his long-time colleague paul manafort while investigating possible collusion by the trump campaign with russians. san francisco supervisor london breed plans to hold an emergency community meeting tomorrow to discuss the drug- drug- drug-related drugs. their bodies were found near the urban school at page street and masonic avenue early yesterday morning. no foul play is involved in their deaths. investigators believe they might have taken a street drug laced

with the narcotic and the suspected overdoses do have health officials alarmed that more deaths could happen if drug users don't take precautions. happening today, stanford students will speak out for victims of sexual assault. they will meet where former student brock turner assaulted an unconscious woman behind a dumpster in 2015. stanford agreed last year to replace the dumpster with a proper memorial. today at 4:00 p.m. students will read empowering quotes from the victim's letter about the impact of that assault. they'll also discuss how the stanford community can fight against sexual violence. usa swimming is cleaning house following accusations of widespread sexual abuse. susan was a director with a safe sport. it's a program tasked with investigating misconduct and was said to have an intimate relationship with a coach named

let's get back to our breaking news. sky7 is over the scene of a two-alarm fire in san francisco. this is just a few blocks from delores park and the fire started about 10:30 this morning. we've seen smoke rising for at least 30 minutes from this building. you see firefighters on the roof right now. and the building on fire is a multi-story victorian. firefighters have been inside fighting the fire as well. we have not heard any reports of

any injuries yet. we have no word on what exactly sparked this fire. the flames appear to have burned the back of the building. there is visible damage to the outside of the house. you see firefighters working on the roof. some hot spots still burning. we're going to continue to monitor the situation. we'll have updates on tv and, of course, on our abc7 news app. new this morning, a scare for the royal couple. british police say prince harry's fiancee meghan markle could have been the victim of a hate crime. they received a suspicious package with an unknown white substance and a note. counterterror officials are now investigating. they say the white substance was harmless. necessity have n they have not revealed what was written in the note but they say it may have been a hate crime. a warning from berkeley police to keep an eye on your laptop. despite the arrest of six

back again for breaking news. take a look at your screens. we have video from the ground of firefighters working that two-alarm fire in san francisco burning right new. you see sky7 is still live overhead. the fire started about an hour ago on sanchez street. that's just a few blocks away from delores park. we can see smoke and occasionally flames coming from that roof of that victorian building. you can see that fire still active right now. a lot of firetrucks in the area right now. please, fire officials are asking you to stay away if you can. let's turn our attention to the weather because we have a really nice weekend if you want to get outside. still breezy over the water as you can see from our emeryville camera. but it's going to be calmer overall, even with sunshine

today. slightly warmer this weekend and chance of winter weather next week. we started off this morning in record territory once again. we set one in hayward and con cord, died one in livermore at 27. napa, 27, set a new one. santa rosa we tied one at 29 degrees. san francisco is the warm spot at 40. an area of low pressure, another storm coming from the arctic but this time an inside slider heading east. that will open up us for sunshine and slowly warming temperatures. today about 53 to 58 over the next couple of hours. we'll get there about 1:30, 2:00. you can see a gorgeous picture. absolutely stunning how clear the air is. still a chill at 4:00. low to mid-40s at 8:00 and already 34 at midnight inland to 41 around the bay and coast. we'll drop down to frosty levels inland with upper 30s around the bay and coast, 42 into san francisco. let's jump ahead.

sunday night at 9:00, our next system starts coming in. some of the mountains around clear lake, the snow level will drop down to around 3,000 feet. during the commute monday morning, you can see we're going to have rain. monday morning's commute not very good. that will be around until the end of the commute and then transition to showers and possibly scattered thunderstorms for the afternoon hours. you see that little blip there. there's a chance of snow on hamilton and diablo if it gets -- it one of those showers rolls across it. as has been the case during the winter season so far, the storms have not produced as much rain as the models have put out. right now this is putting 0.1 to 0.2 an inch, which we desperately need. we'll have an update monday morning starting at about 4:30. a look at lake tahoe. it will be colder than average. they'll keep making snow. the next chance of snow is monday.
