governor rick scott who rarely disagreed with the president but saying he'd rather see teachers teach and law enforcement with proper training. white house communications director hope hicks expected to be interviewed today. this all part of the russia investigation. it's not clear how much hicks will say. committee democrats say it's unclear whether she will seek to limit her testimony. that like former white house strategist, steve bannon. hicks had key roles on president trump's campaign and during the transition before her current job in the administration. and the program protecting dreamers remains in place now that the supreme court has denied a white house appeal for immediate action. that means it must make its way through the lower courts before possibly being considered by the justices.

from coral springs officers that said several waited. but he says tapes don't back up the claim. and they responded to 18 calls related to cruz. two under review, including one in november saying cruz could be a school shooter in the making. >> the caller as you know came from massachusetts. she said the eventual killer was somewhere in palm beach county. >> and asked did the person who received that call follow up? >> indications are that he did not. >> reporter: in a rare move, governor scott says he disagrees with the president when it comes to arming teachers saying he'd rather see teachers teach and focus on law enforcement being in place to protect the students.

the president continues to bash the police response to the shooting as he met with governors. he called their performance disgusting. now the president went on to suggest that if he was there, he would have acted heroically. >> i really believe -- you don't know until you are tested -- but i believe i'd run in even if i didn't have a weapon. i think most of the people in this room would have done that too. and while the president is calling on congress to take immediate action, fresh from a week-long recess, they observed a moment of silence but no bill addressing gun violence will go through unless backed by the president. a stoneman douglas student is back on her feet and expected to make a full recovery. they initially thought she was dead after finding her with gunshot wounds to her chest, abdomen and arm.

a fire lieutenant was ordered to take her to a hospital 30 miles away but decided to take her to one closer instead. a decision that doctors say saved her life. >> i'm maddy wilford and i would just like the say that i'm so grateful to be here and it wouldn't be possible without the doctors and first responders and these amazing doctors and especially all the love that everyone has sent. >> and her doctors say she should be ready to return next week. the principal tweeted a photo of the staff on monday but maddy will be at school next week. >> remarkable recovery getting shot so many times. taking a look at what's happening overseas. russia has ordered humanitarian pauses. the five-hour stoppage follows
