parkland shootings. >> dick's sporting goods, just announced it will no longer sell assault-style rifles in any stores. including the hunting focus brand in field and stream and not stopping there. matt keller live outside of dick's in san jose with the rest of the announcement. >> good morning, reggie and natasha. the ceo of dick's sporting goods says it's a staunch supporter of the second aemt amendment. we must keep them safe. the news policies are going into effect immediately. stack says that they removed assault-style rifles from the dick's stores after the sandy hook massacre but making that policy permanent. they're removing the same weapons from the sfeeld and stream source. dick's says they will no longer sell high capacity magazines to anyone under 21 years of age regardless of local laws. ceo spoke to george stephanopoulos.

those marjory stoneman douglas high school students go back to school since the deadly shooting two weeks ago. police officers handed out flowers to those students who passed through a growing memorial on their way into the building this morning. for some, the thought of returning to school is actually too much to bear. julian lost his best friend in the shooting. take a listen. >> say if i do go back to the school and sometimes i go back and i'd be scared to go to the bathroom. i wouldn't want to leave the classroom at all. >> we also learned that there are students from other area schools gathered there this morning on the campus to pay tribute to the 17 lives lost on valentine's day. >> thank you, jessica. a go fund me account passed $2.5 million. we've put a link on abc7news.com if you'd like to donate. extra police officers will be patrolling a sebastopol high school over the next few days following the discovery of threatening graffiti.

administrators at analy high scho school. officers did not find additional indication of imminent threat. but administrators decided to send students home early as a precaution. a central valley man faces charges after authorities say he traveled overseas to join isis. 20-year-old bernard augustine was arrested in tunisia in the process of trying to enter libya. he was arrested and served time in tunisia in 22016 when he arrived on a flight that originated in san francisco. neighbors are in disbelief. he lived outside modesto. >> it's scary. that close to home. you expect that in the big cities, not in this tiny town. search of laptops and cell phones reveal that he sent messages praising isis and did internet searches on how to safely join isis. he could get up to 20 years in prison. san francisco mayoral candidate mark leno filed a complaint in superior court to

force fellow candidate london breed to remove acting mayor in front of her name on the ballot. he said it would mislead voters in the june 5th election. because she is no longer acting mayor. she was acting mayor when she filed her paperwork to run. weks later, she would be replaced by fellow supervisor, mark farrell. breed spokeswoman said that elections code doesn't allow a candidate to change his or her ballot designation after the dead liline to file for nominat. crews in santa rosa are making emergency repairs on riebli road. they were hoping to finish it by today. another big concern, protecting 1400 storm drains from fire debris in fountain grove. gravel bags and straw are the first line of defense. >> upwards of anywhere from inch a. to 2 inches possibly in the north bay. that's a concern of ours. it's a concern because we know that we're going to be testing our storm drain inlets again.

natasha. oakland's mayor making national news this morning for that warning that she put out. the story is going to stay in the headlines today. a protest is scheduled for here in front of the i.c.e. building in san francisco where protesters plan to call for an end to the arrests of immigrants. i.c.e. agents say about half of the people they arrested since sunday have criminal convictions in addition to their immigration violations. that includes armando nunez salgado. he was arrested in napa and is a documented gang member and convicted criminal. i.c.e.'s deputy director specifically called out oakland mayor libby schaaf in his statement for her warning immigrants saying, quote, 864 criminal aliens and public safety threats remain at large in the community and i have to believe that some of them were able to elude us thanks to the mayor's irresponsible decision. here is the warning that the mayor gave over the weekend. >> yesterday, i learned

florida at all hours. he said his investments will include metal detectors, bulletproof glass, steel doors. it includes a hotline to report suspicious activity. those are just some of the items and all of this as students return today to stoneman douglas for the first time since that shooting. back to you. san francisco police released graphic body cam video showing the barrage of gunfire that ended in the capture of a homicide suspect. it just seems never ending. it started when police arrested joel armstrong who officers spotted inside an rv earlier this month. he fired two rounds at officers. seven officers fired approximately 65 rounds in the vehicle after they heard dpun fire from inside. police released the body cam video during a town hall meeting last night. >> get more ammo! >> incredibly, no one was hit in this exchange of gunfire near

alameda and at that hara streets. armstrong eventually surrendered. he's accused of killing a man, wounding another and carjacking a driver on february 16th. happening today, the suspect arrested in connection to a deadly shooting in broadmoor are set for hearing this morning. the two will be arraigned in san mateo county. they killed a couple at the hillside market on sunday. a third victim wounded is expected to survive. police say the victims and the suspects got into an argument that led up to that shooting. developing news now, the el sobrante lie brarly likely be closed after a fire damaged the building. the flames started outside the library around 8:30 last night. the fire then spret to the roof causing the damage you saw there. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. happening today, supervisor aaron peskin is conducting a hearing at city hall to get an update about the faulty fire call boxes. abc 7 news reporter lyanne

melendez alerted you to this problem earlier in the month. the department of technology was supposed to cover them with custom-made bags. they ran out and so covered them with towels and electrical tape. today supervisor peskin will ask for a report on the boxes covered with towels. the boxes still use the old 19th century telegraph technology that sends a message to the nearest fire station. san jose wants to hear your thoughts on a proposed mega campus for google. the newly formed station area advisory group meets for the first time at city hall tonight at 6:00. yesterday we learned that the google village would be located near the diridon transit hub. many fear that a new campus with thousands of high-paid employees will make the housing crisis worse. dozens voiced their concerns at a meeting with the group silicon valley rising last night. >> we think long-term, we'll be able to afford living on your own. >> we're coming up with a plan to see from them. that's investment this is affordable housing and in

transit and our public education system. >> silicon valley rising finalized a list of five principles it wants to see in a deal with google including fighting displacement, ensuring family, supporting jobs, supporting diversity and tech and mitigating traffic. a charter bus company is offering a $10,000 reward to try to stop a rash of bb and pellet gun shootings targeting bus esb. at least five buses have been hit. some are tech buses carryig google and apple employees. they're not clearly marked so chp officers don't necessarily believe the tech workers are targeted. the chp has increased patrols along interstate 280 where most of the shootings have happened. let take a look at temperatures because we've got frost in the south bay. look at scloir santa clara 31. everybody else, pretty much in the mid to upper 30s until you get to morgan hill at 30. los altos at 42.

report. google's new smart camera is on sale. >> it's called google clips. it uses artificial intelligence to decide what pictures to take. if it sees your baby smile, it will snap a few pictures. the camera costs about 250 bucks. amazon is buying ring. reuters reports it will likely be for more than a billion dollars. ring makes the wi-fi connected cameras and door wells. this acquisition helps amazon better compete with google's nest which makes cameras. all the investors, besides kevin o'leary rejected the pitch when the business was called door bot. as trading gets under way this morning, you can see that we're up more than 100 points. interesting new study. it finds that diverse audiences are driving most of hollywood's biggest blockbusters. for example black panther, as well as the most watched tv shows. >> it's time for the industry to adjust. minorities account for the
