live where you live, this is abc 7 news. a live doppler 7 looking calm now, but this picture is going to change. expect green, yellows, and oranges to light up radar starting tonight. thank you for joining us today. now, the showers are expected to start in the north bay, triggering a 1 on the storm impact scale, and the bigger wave is behind it. our meteorologist, mike nicco, is tracking the storm, mike? >> yes, a lot to talk about. start by showing the doppler, how the clouds, gray here, are increasing, and some sprinkles are possible. green in the north bay. natasha mentioned the storm impact scale today at 1 and 2 tomorrow as the moderate to

assault rifles or high capacity magazines will be sold in the storms or firearms sold to anyone under the age of 21. mat keller is live in san jose with the changes and reactions. matt? >> reporter: well, dick's ceo announced the new policies this morning, but he's hoping their move push elected officials to enact their own gun reform laws. 17 people killed two weeks ago, sparking anger, outrage, and for the ceo of dick's sporting goods, action. >> we were so disturbed and saddened by what happened, we felt we needed to do something. >> reporter: ed stack sat down this morning on "gma" to talk about the new gun sales policy effective immediately. he says they already removed assault style weapons from all dick's stores following the sandy hook shootings in 2012, but is now making the policy permanent and removing the weapons from the 35 streaming

stores and no longer sells high capacity magazines or any gun to anyone under 21 years of age, regardless of local laws. >> no chance of reversing this? >> no. >> ready for the backlash? >> we are. >> reporter: people spoke outsa stores while questioning the company's position on the sec amendment. >> if the kids are brave enough to organize like this, we can take these out of here. >> reporter: some are pleased to see the private company take action on a controversial issue. >> i think it's great. do something, you know, even if it's wrong, do something. >> listening to the public in their outcries for some sort of change. if it's not coming from government standpoint, then we have to make change from the private stand point. >> reporter: the policy changes will have a limited impact at dick's stores here in the bay area and across california because of current state law. the only difference here today

compared to yesterday, no one under the age of 21 will be able to buy a rifle. reporting live in san jose, matt keller, abc 7 news. >> thank you. senator feinstein responded to dick's move on twitter saying, quote, well done, dick's sporting goods, thank you for helping us get weapons of war off the streets. your decision will help save lives. tracking breaking news, a teacher in custody after reports of a shooting in a georgia school. police say every child is accounted for. this happened at dalton high school this morning. the armed suspect was barricaded inside a classroom. no word on what led up to the incident. one student was hurt running inside the school during the evacuation. this incident comes days after president trump suggested arming teachers in response to the florida school shooting. it also happened on the day the florida students returned to class for the first time in two weeks. abc news reporter has the details. >> reporter: there's a heavy police presence now outside the school, and while some are here

for security, many are here offduty saying they wanted to be here as students returned simply to remind them they are not alone. a stream of students in douglas, parkland in msd strong t-shirts leave high school after the first day back. >> a lot of emotions. everybody just, you know, reliving the the moment that happened the day of. >> hugged the teachers. >> we want to move on with our normal lives. today was a weird, strange emotional day. >> reporter: once mundane school day rocked with emotion. >> the school will never be the same. >> reporter: hours before the return, students from nearby schools and nearly every offduty police officer in the region gathered adding to the growing memorial and surrounding the school and students with their love. >> thank you, all, for being here. we appreciate your support. >> thank you, thank you. >> reporter: many of the students returning to school today have been working tirelessly since the shooting.

and governor rick scott's vowing to tighten school security. >> we have to get something done. we have -- there's no alternatives. >> reporter: the plans include an increased police presence at all public schools along with metal detectors, bullet proof glass, and upgraded locks. the students are on a modified schedule through the end of the week, but the principal reminded everyone that the top priority are emotional readiness and comfort, not curriculum, telling students there's no need to bring a backpack. in parkland, florida, abc 7 news. well, breaking news in union city right now. police are investigating after a person was hit and killed by an amtrack train in the area of dyers street and alvardo boulevard. they released a statement saying the victim was trespassing when hit.

no one else was hurt. amtrak is cooperating with the investigation. we'll track the story on the news app and abc7news.com. 11 police officers patrolling analy high school for the next few days after a threat. they called police after spotting the graffiti yesterday. they did not find additional indications regarding an imminent threat. frustrations over recent i.c.e. arrests fuel a protest in san francisco today. abc 7's jessica castro has more. >> reporter: yes. in less than an hour, a protest is scheduled here in san francisco. it will be at noon in the financial district in front of the ice building on samson street. organizers say they will be calling for an end to these types of arrests of immigrants, and this all comes after dozens of arrests in the past few days, but on the other side, i.c.e. agents say half of the people they arrested have criminal convictions in addition to their immigration violations including

armando, a documented gang member, convicted criminal arrested in napa. the director blasted openly the mayor for warning immigrants saying 864 criminal ail yliens public safety threats are at large in the community, and i have to believe some eluded us thanks to the mayor's irresponsible decision. here's the warning the mayor gave sunday. >> yesterday, i learned information from multiple sources that there is potentially an i.c.e. activity planned in the bay area. >> reporter: the mayor has responded to criticism saying, it is oak llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerych wyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch 's legal right to be a sanctuary city, and we've not broken any laws and believe our community is safer when families say together. she does not appear to regret issuing her warning this weekend, although people are upset. the california state senator, though, came to the mayor's

to arrest the suspect dowel armstrong spotted inside an rv this month. a armstrong fired two rounds at officers and seven officers fired approximately 65 rounds at the vehicle after hearing gunfire from inside. police released this body cam video in a town hall meeting last night. >> get more ammo. >> yelling, "get more ammo," incredibly, no one was hit in this give up fire. armstrong eventually surrendered, now accused of killing a man, withouting another, and carjacking a driver near the panhandle on february 16. epidemic of car break-ins in gets worse. we know this. one of the latest incidents caught abc 7 news's attention because of who it involved and where it occurred. the firefighters union was targeted, his third car break-in. this upset him because it happened in broad daylight outside city hall. >> it's amazing, and i was

effect in weather. you see the curls in the clouds. that's areas of low pressurings and when they are counter clockwise, they spin around each other coming down towards us and sit and spin around each other over top of us for three days, and that's why we have three days worth of wet weather. google it. it's cool. you can see it's quiet out there. breezes have not kicked up yet, a chance of sprinkles by noon, and at 4:00, a chance of showers, best in the north bay rounding out the planner, things change at 8:00. showers spread and comes breezy and moderate to heavy by the time we get to midnight, and they are moderate to heavy tomorrow as you can see some of the yellow and orange. temperatures very mild tomorrow morning. mid-40s to low 50s. jumping in, there's the clock. noon today, a few showers develop in the north bay, up through 6:00. not a washout. not everybody driving in rain in the commutine, but by midnight,

everybody is wet from green, light, moderate to heavy, and in the morning commute, part of the baby 9:00 and exiting to the south baby 3:00. we're talking about a long time of heavy rain embedded in the steady light rain, and then showers and thunderstorms overnight and snow levels drop up in lake county, so 5:00, just a little in the north bay, and tomorrow morning, look at that. everybody's going to be driving on wet streets, if not a little ponding, and look by tomorrow evening, we're talking about almost an 1.1.5 inches of rain all from 12 hour span tomorrow. here's what's going up in lake county, a winter storm warning, 4:00 this afternoon to 10:00 saturday, 8 inches at 2,000 feet, highest at 2 feet, and dumps in the sierra. 3-5 feet, 7 feet up 7,000 feet.

winds gusting 69 miles per hour from today to 10:00 saturday. traveling there? i don't recommend it. thursday, tomorrow afternoon, a foot to two feet of snow. friday evening, three to four feet of snow. it is just going to be a bear to get up there. for us, accuweather forecast, today's storm a 1, tomorrow a 2, almost a 3 because of the heavy rainfall, but i'm not expecting damage or a lot of flooding outside of some streets, and some parking lots that normally flood when we get heavy rains. friday is a 1 as well as saturday on the storm impact scale because of the scattered nature of the showers, but the fact they have lightning, thunder, hail, and even snow, remember what happened tuesday morning? >> yeah. >> you may see that again. >> i have a big shoot tomorrow, i'll be out all day in san francisco. i should have listened. >> i would hold the umbrella, but it won't do good because it's coming in sideways. >> oh, so much to look forward
