this morning a major breakthrough in talks between north and south korea. north korea says it will impose a moratorium on nuclear and missile tests if the u.s. agrees to hold talks. north korea has also reportedly said that they have no reason to have any nuclear weapons if they can get a security guarantee. although no word on exactly what that guarantee would entail. the south korean delegation that held talks with the north's leader, kim jong-un, returned home this morning. and south korea's president was not there, but there could be a summit between the two korean leaders some time soon. we do expect to learn much more later this morning. >> jessica, thank you. it's 4:30. if you're just joining us, let's get the quick update on your weather and traffic. mike? we had fog around novato, now disappeared. it will be moving somewhere. so be careful with that. visibility down to half a mile, just about five or ten minutes

called a hero for stopping a woman who stabbed people on a bus heading from las vegas to oakland and on to oregon yesterday. they say the suspect boarded in bakersfield and suddenly grabbed a 3-year-old and put a knife to the girl's neck threatening to kill her. she stabbed the girl's mother who tried to fight back. the bus driver and two passengers jumped in. those passengers were wounded. nathan of santa cruz is one who stepped in. his wrist and finger were badly cut. >> trying to just stop her from hurting the mother and the daughter any more than she had already tried and done. adrenaline was going. i just didn't want her to hurt anybody. >> the woman stabbed herself in the neck. she is undergoing surgery. the 3-year-old was not hurt. her mother is expected to recover. developing news now, a former trump campaign aide is making headlines for saying the special counsel in the russia investigation may have incriminating evidence against the president. the white house denies these

4:53. a touch of spring in the forecast. look at the temperatures from the mid-60s to low 70s. for most of us about three to six degrees above average. our east bay neighborhoods will be just about average today. we'll take a look at how much rain to expect out of our next storm up next. a 20-year-old oregon man is suing dick's sporting goods and walmart after he says both corporations refused to sell him a rifle. this comes after both stores announced they would not sell guns to anyone under 21 in the wake of the florida school shooting that left 17 people dead. the man says the new policies are a form of discrimination. walmart says it stands behind its decision. dick's has not responded to the

lawsuit. happening today amazon will start grocery deliveries from whole food stores to some bay area cities. amazon will roll out free two-hour delivery in san francisco and parts of the east bay and south bay. free delivery is only available to prime members who place orders over $35. one-hour delivery available for an $8 fee. now the service has been available in austin, dallas, cincinnati and virginia beach for nearly a month now. amazon, as you know, bought whole foods last year. a new status symbol for the silicon valley set has arrived and you're looking at it, chickens. "the washington post" reports that high-end chickens are now all the rage. people paying up to $350 for a heritage breed of chicken. they treat them like kings feeding them organic salmon and steak. some actually put diapers on them. those are still cute chickens. >> you said they put diapers on chickens.

>> i did say that. the snowpack in the sierra is 80% higher than last month. that's the good news. unfortunately, it's just a reflection of how bad things have been. the monthly survey by the california department of water resources found 41 inches of snow that's just above one-third of the average for this time of year. officials say storms make all the difference. >> if you said last week, wow, it's really bad, and then you have four or five days of storm activity can really make a difference. >> and that is a huge boost to what we had been seeing back last week before the storms hit. >> it would take at least two more big storms to bring the season totals across the high sierra back up to the average. right now the overall snowpack is just 39% of average. yeah, we went from about 20% to 37% of average, to give you an idea how much snow we received. at 5:00 tomorrow evening looks
