he rushed out of the san francisco county jail to an awaiting car this afternoon after posting his 30,000 dlrsz bail. here's how smith looked when he was booked this morning on misdemeanor domestic violence and other charges. the former 49er, surrendered today having been on the run since late saturday when he reportedly assaulted his fiance at her knob hill apartment. here's how the police radio dispatcher described what happened. san francisco police issued a warrant for his arrest, but could not find him. then yesterday, smith'sthat smia rehab facility after reaching out for help. she said she still loved him and wanted to help him with his issues. police successfully worked with

his attorney to get him surrendered so he could answer he was released from the team in 2015 after a string of arrests, the last one involving a hit and run. he then joined the raiders, but was suspended for a year for a substance abuse violation. more trouble last year, with a domestic violence investigation. the raiders say they have now released smith. well as you saw on the video, smith did not speak to reporters when he left county jail here. and our repeated calls to his attorney were not returned. >> much appreciated, vic, thank you. we sent out a push alert for the abc7 news app after getting the news that former raider aldon smith had been arrested.

a video shooting a giant stream almost 200 feet to the lower level to the western span, the boat was trying to put out a small fire in the netting benooeb beneath the bridge near treasure island. the chp tweeted out this picture, you can see the smoke billowing out from underneath the bridge. it was extinguished by 2:45. that netting is meant to prevent birds from roosting in that area. how the fire started is noll clear. grief counselors were at the american international school in san francisco after a student and his mother were found dead at kirkwood ski resort, olga and her son were found buried by that had fallen near their condo. >> the classroom is a safe space for grief for our students and we have counselors in place for all of our classes that were

affected by this tragedy and we will have throughout the week as our community processes this incident. >> the alpine county sheriff's department call this a tragic accident. >> 14 others have been trapped in the snow since last thursday. abc7 morning's anchor reggie akey has the details. >> reporter: snow or the weekend led to an avalanche at squaw. a snowboarder reported missing during a blizzard at squaw was found dead on friday. the snow also claimed the life of a snowboarder when the man was off the grid run when he got into deep powder. a keyer on the chair lift shot this video just before it happened. two skiers and six employees

a high of 70 degrees. it's a comfortable of 75 in san francisco. the doppler 7 shows you our next storm system, a cold front that will move through here tomorrow night, but ahead of it will start to see those clouds increase. it's a nice evening to be out and about. by tomorrow morning, those clouds steadily increase, we're still dry and even midday tomorrow we still keep a fair amount of sunshine and temperatures still on the mild side. we'll track that rain that will arrive by tomorrow night. nationl trpg safety board has put out a preliminary report on what caused a flight from san francisco to honolulu to make an emergency landing last month. a passenger snapped some video of the engine which looked like part of it had fallen off. the ntsb said in its report several fan blades broke and

flew off. investigators also received a warning of an engine compression stall so they shut down that engine. there were 373 people on board the plane and the plane landed safely. a santa cruz man is being called a hero for stopping an attack on a bus that was bound for the bay area. the gray hound bus was heading to oakland when a woman grabbed a 3-year-old away from the child's mother and held that child at knife point. they say the woman slashed the mom and some of the passengers. when they tackled her, she kept fighting stabbing them. >> reporter: what made you step into action? >> adrenaline, i guess, i didn't want anybody to get hurt. >> reporter: the suspect has been identified as teresa madrigal. passengers reported she was acting kind of strange and talking to herself. a high school row bolt aches team in the south bay is reeling from a theft over the weekend.

>> somebody stole a trailer containing their robot. but the community is now rallying behind those students. >> al of you guys know we have 20 days to make this robot, correct? >> reporter: the robotic team flew to utah to compete with a other teams. one of their mentors drove their robot creation up there in a u-haul trailer that was parked behind their motel. >> i think someone saw the trailer and saw the opportunity. i doubt they were actually targeting looking for a robot, they just happened to see the trailer and we were unlucky. >> surveillance video shows the truck being driven away with the skon taner. >> such hard work every single day and that whole thing taken away from us. >> reporter: they lost not only the robot but all of their tools and spare parts. >> we have reached out to other teams and they have reached back to us and they have agreed to

march. 54 currently in san rafael, 64 currently in napa, 68 in san jose and concord coming in with a comfortable mild temperature of 65 degrees. so here's the call, over the next 12 hours, we generally have clear skies right now, the clouds are going to thicken and that's going to act like a blanket up above. most spots will fall into the 40s, no 30s or 20s tonight. first off in the morning on your wednesday, there's a fair amount of cloud cover, we're dry, most spots starting out in the 40s. by midday, we'll likely see a fair amount of sunshine break out. so a brighter afternoon on the way, and that will help get temperatures once again into the 60s, if not low 70s for a second day in a row. by 7:00, we enter that chance for a shower and it's mainly in the north bay. 64 the high both oakland and san francisco. 71 in san jose, 68 the high in

santa rosa and concord, but tomorrow night we bring in the storm impact scale, and it's a light system headed our way, a 1 on the storm impact scale. light winds, generally about 5 to 10 miles an hour and the best chance of seeing showers is really in the north bay, the south bay, really minimal if any rain at all. 2:00 wednesday afternoon, you do notice the rain has yet to arrive. it's a blend of sunshine and cloud cover out there. the sun goes down and then the showers arrive. wednesday by 8:00, 9:00, future weather showing it's likely confined to the south bay and very light in nature. even as the storm system moves through the region early thursday morning, you still see those showers mainly in the north bay and right along the coast. supertracker rainfall, showing you really light amounts of rain

with this storm system. we'll see less than a quarter inch of rain in the south bay. brentwood, freemont, likely with this system moving in, you will be hard pressed to find any rain moving through your neighborhood. a couple of showers for the friday morning commute, but once again, really liabilight in nat. tomorrow we have some mild temperatures, an evening showers perhaps. and then over the weekend, those clocks move forward an hour and by tuesday next week, our next storm arrives. >> it just dawned on me, we're losing sleep? >> you get that sunset that goes after 7:00 at night, which is kind of a payoff. >> you just ruined by weekend for me. a new way to find housing in the

resigned. president trump tweeted there is no chaos in the white house, however there appears to be a lot going on with cohn stepping down. and now kellyanne conway accused of breaking campaign law. lana? >> reporter: and there is a lot to follow. just two months ago president trump and gary cohn had joked about rumors of his departure, the president at that point saying he hoped cohn would stick around for a very long time. chief economic advisor gary cohn is the fifth official to resign from the white house a little more than a year into the administration. cohn had battled with the president on the tariffs of aluminum and steel. >> i'm protecting our companies, so we're doing tariffs on steel.

april. developing news out of the uk, counter terrorism police are leading an investigation as to how and why a former russian spy and his daughter became critically ill. the two were passed out in a park. >> reporter: this sleepy quiet town in rural england became the center of world attention yesterday after a couple that had mysteriously taken hill on sunday was a former russian spy and his daughter. the couple had passed out in a public park. behind me is the bench where the former russian spy and his daughter reportedly lost consciousness on sunday afternoon. they are now in a critical condition in a nearby hospital. police say they came in contact with an unknown substance. he was sentenced for tremendous son in 2006 by the russian state for passing russian

think about mexico. and that's very hot this year because we have a brand-new airline serving san francisco to cancun, interjet just started service last month and they have been offering fares of about $300 roundtrip, which is a great deal considring you usually pay about $500 to $600 to fly to cancun. the east coast, the entire country, mentiy county, cancun is the premier destination. >> what else is cheap? >> a lot of people are going to europe, because it's become so inexpensive. you can jump on norwegian air or british airways and fly to europe for about $500 round trip. which is really in the budget for a lot of people, they can go over to europe for a week or so. but the problem is that the u.s.

which means that last week in march is going to be a combination of college students and families all trying to take their vacation at that time, so it's going to be very expensive and very crowded, so i encourage people to get to the airport very early, especially the week before and the week of easter, there's going to be surprises at airport security and that kind of thing, so be aware of that. if you haven't made plans yet, if you can travel midweek, instead of leaving on friday, saturday or sunday, leave on monday or tuesday, you're probably going to get a better deal, and you're less likely to encounter those big, big crowds you're going to get right around easter. >> so some good tips, so mark your calendars so you can take advantage of those good deals. all right, if you do a lot of shopping on amazon, this might be of interest. whole foods is rolling out free delivery for amazon prime
