officer involved shooting in san francisco. >> reporter matt keller is live in the district this morning. matt? >> reporter: good morning, reggie. i want to give you an idea of what's taking place behind me. we're between 21st and 22nd street on capp street. the crime scene is parked and behind it are big lights that's showing what is happening down on the ground as officers continue their investigation. this took place last night after 10:30. here's what happened, the police say. officers were flagged down at 20th and capp street by armed robbery victims. they gave officers descriptions of the suspects and told them they were driving a black honda civic. the officers spotted the car between 21st and 22nd streets and ordered the suspects out of car. the driver was detained, the officers then noticed the trunk of the civic was open and saw a second suspect in the trunk. while trying to detain the suspect, an officer involved shooting took place. here's what a neighbor, who did

not want to be identified, heard. >> then i heard a shot. and then two i -- definitely heard a shot. then i heard like -- i thought it was fireworks. >> the suspect in the trunk died at the scene. officersnd a handgun in the trunk. a third suspect, a female in the vehicle, was also detained. san francisco police say they hold the town hall meeting about this officer-involved shooting within ten days. officers told me on the scene, they believe they'll be out here until at least daylight. matt keller, abc 7 news. attorney general jeff sessions is scheduled to speak in sacramento where he is expected to formally announce a lawsuit against the state of california's sanctuary state policy. >> according to the associated press, the p. it targets three state laws. including laws that ban police from asking someone's immigration status, banned participation in federal immigration raids and another

law which offers protection from raids at workplaces. governor brown issued a statement saying at a time of unprecedented political turmoil, jeff sessions has come to california to further divide and polarize america. jeff, these political stunts may be the norm in washington, but they don't work here. sad. >> oakland mayor libby schaaf is responding to the lawsuit by vowing to fight for the legal right to remain a sanctuary city. she says she will continue to inform residents about their constitutional rights. she drew the anger of the administration when she warned about i.c.e. raids a week and a half ago. schaaf says this administration tried to portray all i am granlts asville rance. that's a racist lie and we will she had light on that myth every day. abc 7 news will have live coverage of jeff sessions' address this morning. we'll send out a push alert when he starts speaking. 5:04 now. san jose police are searching for the person or persons who

shot out business and auto windows with a bb gun. at least a dozen incidents this week. the vandals made quite a mess. this restaurant in alum rock spent yesterday cleaning up. a new window will need to be installed there. business owners say it will cost thousands of dollars. >> this is bad. this is something that police should really take it very serious because it's a lot of damage. i mean, it makes you want to quit the business and do something else. >> we want to try to pick ourselves up and take care of business. that's what we're going to do and hopefully everybody else will be able to do the same and take care of their businesses too. >> police don't know if the incidents are connected. they have not released any suspect information. aldon smith is out on $30,000 bail after turning himself in to san francisco police on domestic violence charges. abc 7 news was at the san francisco county jail when smith left and quickly hopped into a

waiting car. he was booked on misdemeanor domestic violence and other charges. he had been wanted since saturday when he allegedly assaulted his fiance at her nob hill apartment. she called police after he left. here's how the dispatcher described what happened. >> the suspect threw her on the -- bit -- >> it's the latest in a series of run-ins with the law for smith. the 49ers released him after a string of arrest and served a one-year suspension from the nfl for a substance abuse violations. the raiders released him on monday. the san francisco district attorney will not press charges against the university of san diego men's basketball coach. lamont smith was arrested at sfo on february 25th after allegedly beating his pregnat girlfriend at a san francisco hotel. as a result of evidence from the investigation, mr. smith will not be charged at this time. a surprise move by an nba star cleveland cavaliers kevin

love is opening up about his mental health now. showing how a panic attack during a game in november changed his life. abc 7 news reporter lisa amin gulezian has the reaction. >> kevin love is used to scoring big on the basketball court. but his words out-shined everything else. in his essay for the players tribune, everyone is going through something, the nba stand-out opened up about hispanic attack november 5th. he wrote, it was like my body was trying to say to me, you're about to die. love was rushed to a local hospital where doctors found nothing physically wrong. so he started seeing a therapist who helped him realize, quote, this is an everyone-thing. no matter our circumstances, we're all carrying around things that hurt. they can hurt us if we keep them buried inside. warriors head coach steve kerr applauded love's decision. >> doesn't matter if you're an nba player or the average guy, it's just -- we're human beings.

then by noon, it kind of tapers just a little bit. then scattered showers are possible during the afternoon and evening hours. then that shower chance continues, especially south of the san mateo bridge friday and maybe a few light showers across the north bay early friday evening. as far as the rainfall tote altalts, there you go. everybody on dry ground. then the rain rolls in. i think tomorrow morning, we'll start off with dry weather in the east bay valleys and also down in the south bay. by the end of the commute, you'll start to get wet. by 7:00 tomorrow evening, a couple of hundredths most neighborhoods up to about .2 inches in the north bay. now, most of saturday is going to be dry, but saturday evening, that's when rain rolls back in. there's a slight chance of a scattered shower on sunday if you have outdoor plans or certain co-worker of ours keeps tweeting me about her son's second birthday party sunday. looks like it's going to be pretty good. then tuesday, it will be wet and breezy.

the area and took him into custody. the new details about what may have caused this scary sight on a flight out of sfo. remember this video from a passenger showing the engine on the plane missing the front covering? the ntsb says several fan blades in the engine broke and that the engine could you lynx flew off. the pilot received warnings of an engine compressor stall and they made a safe emergency landing. none of the 373 people on board were hurt. more help for san jose residents displaced by the coyote creek floods. the city council has accepted a $5.4 million grant from the state department of social services to help families who lost their homes. more than a year after the flood, 42 people are still living in temporary housing. the grant money will pay for their housing assistance. what is left will help others from future disasters. >> the san francisco board of supervisors wants to charge uber and lyft for using city streets.
