this morning. the light raining is turning to drizzle. it's going to hang around right as the commute ends. so will the chance of any wet weather. the road as you saw right there are slick from a few hundredths of an inch of rain. doesn't look impressive on live doppler 7 whatsoever. most of the rain and drizzle is below 5,000 feet. you can see here on the roof camera, it's definitely wet on the embarcadero this morning. temperatures very mild across the board. low to mid-40s in the accuweather planner. stay in the upper 50s at the coast. mid-60s at noon. stay there with increasing sunshine through 4:00. we'll see how it's influencing the commute this morning. hi, alexis. >> we have a big problem in the east bay. traffic alert in lafayette. this is a sig-alert due to a crash with injuries on westbound 24 near acalanes. we did have the three right lanes blocked. i believe we may have had the two right lanes open back up. so that would leave the center

lane blocked. i'm waiting to confirm that with chp. it's starting to stack up towards 680 and walnut creek. southbound 680 before you get to that 24 interchange, traffic is definitely starting to slow down. the orinda area, we'll check on that next. >> new details. should there be three westbound lanes on the richmond-san rafael bridge. we know that a third eastbound lane will open next month. >> a 100,000 study to find out what should happen for everybody heading west. >> amy hollyfield live at the toll plaza. good morning, amy. >> reporter: good morning. commuters who traveled from the east bay over to marin, this is for you. your commute is growing in popularity. your bridge has seen an increase of 13% of traffic over the past five years. according to our partner, the marin independent journal, the bay area toll authority decided to look into adding a third lane to the westbound section of the richmond-san rafael bridge.

sessions blasted california for sanctuary state laws yesterday saying that he will use every power he has to stop state leaders. the lawsuit filed by the doj is the first one against a state government over immigration policies. sessions specifically called out oakland's mayor who warned the public about i.c.e. raids. >> how dare you. how dare you needlessly endanger the lives of our law enforcement officers to promote a radical open borders agenda. >> how dare you. vilify members of our community by trying to frighten the american public into thinking that all undocumented residents are dangerous criminals. >> the governor and lieutenant governor backed oakland mayor libby schaaf. they say that the lawsuit is unprecedented and they reject it. the mayors of the bay area's two largest cities are not holding back criticism over the attorney general's decision to sue the state. san francisco interim mayor mark farrell had this to say. >> this guy is a moron.

change have defeated the trump administration's attempt to keep this dispute out of court. the u.s. court of appeals in san francisco says the lawsuit can go to trial. the group claims that for more than 50 years, the government has promoted regulations that support the use of fossil fuels. they want the court to force the government to formulate a plan to change course. the trump administration plans to appeal the court ruling to the u.s. supreme court. i am tracking that nasty snowstorm in the northeast from our live desk. this morning, i can tell you that it has turned deadly. at least one person dead after the storm. a woman in new york hit by a falling tree. they expect more snowfall today stretching from massachusetts all the way through maine. i want to show you a live look here on the east coast. this is what they are dealing with this morning. this is new york city. a lot snow there to deal with. in fact, they expect more snow. it looks like there's some

area lawmakers will announce a bill raising the minimum age to legally purchase long guns. three of them are proposing raising the minimum age from 18 to 21. they're set to make the announcement later this morning. steve kerr will take time off the court next week to talk about gun violence. he's scheduled to participate in a meeting with congressman ro khanna. he will speak with students. it's set for monday@3:45. he's an outspoken -- for gun control. cell phone recorded the gunfire which began with a gunshot and a warning for police. we want to warn you, viewers may find this video dozens of shots erupted tuesday night when police tried to detain three armed robbery

it urges them to help the president push back against the extreme backlash of the democrats and fake news. president trump will meet with video games executives in his latest roundtable on gun violence after the shooting at stoneman douglas high school in florida. mr. trump believes violent video games are partly to blame for real life violence. a spokesman says video games are plainly not the issue. a police officer charged with hitting two men with his car and then leaving the scene. chris coors was known previous to this as the hot cop of the castro. in opening statements yesterday, his lawyers told the jury he left the accident scene because he felt threatened by a crowd of people who recognized him. prosecutors say he left because he was drinking. he was off duty at the time of the accident. his trial continues today. janitors are on strike at buildings in downtown san francisco as part of international women's day.

at this point in the morning, damage pretty much already done. here's a look at southbound 680 approaching 24 in walnut creek. i am hopeful we'll be able to bounce back from this. we could be in the heart of the commute. that's going to make it really tough to see that clear out completely. westbound 80 in the maze at -- 16 across the bay bridge. in issues if you're headed to sfo. a study predicts that many coastal areas could be underwater in less than april century. drone -- through over fresh treasure island. uc berkeley say sea level rise is an issue around the bay area, especially so along landfill. treasure island is sipging by half an inch a year. in fact, by the year 2100, the northwest section of treasure island could actually be underwater. that's not the only area of

trump asked his then chief of staff reince priebus how the meeting went, if the team was nice and if he was treated fairly. "the new york times" first reported about this kind of interaction between the president and his team in january. the source tells abc news, mr. trump encouraged the white house counsel to issue a statement denying the "times" article. the chief of the forest service abruptly stepped down following reports of harassment. female forest service employees were counting a culture of harrs amount. in his resignation letter, tony tooke announced he was part of the problem. he had been chief of the forest service for seven months. a warning if you like seafood. certain types could be dangerous. the alert for a mussels, clams and whole scallops from drake's bay, san francisco county and san mateo county. specifically, it's a seafood you can catch yourself. they could contain unnaturally
