here's alexis. >> good morning, mike. i'm talking about the fog trafficwise this morning, too. here's a live look a the golden gate bridge. you can barely see. i think those are the zipper trucks. a work crew on the shoulder. a dense fog advisory issued by chp around midnight for golden gate bridge. if you are coming in from the north bay, increase the following distance on a day like today. overall, very light so far. westbound 580, tracy to dublin. the only drive time in the yellow. 33 minutes. 680 out of dublin and it looks great through the south bay as well. in the green, just 15 minutes. >> now a live desk update. >> right now, walnut creek police are investigating a murder of a 60-year-old man. investigators found that victim just before 7:30 last night with life-threatening injuries on la cassie avenue. that's not far from the b.a.r.t. station. medics tried to save him but couldn't. he died on scene.

a 34-year-old man was detailed. at this point, unclear if the two men had any connection. back to you. >> jeffrey, the gir after may be a relic of the past. >> toys "r" us could be in more trouble than we thought. reports say the company may be forced to liquidate all of its stores. amy hollyfield live in concord. bad news, amy. >> reporter: hi, natasha. it sure is. it's a sign that they were optimistic. this is a brand new toys "r" us store in a new shopping center here in concord on diamond boulevard. yet, it sounds like things have gone from bad to worse for this company. sources told bloomberg news, the company is preparing for liquidation. the emeryville store is one of several in the bay area that are closing. the san rafael, pittsburg and a couple of in san jose are also on the list. they had filed for bankruptcy in september and got a loan to work

on turning things around. then here we have this new store in concord. but the holidays were not kind to toys "r" us and the company has not been able to be find a buyer or restructure its debt with it lenders. toys "r" us is not commenting on this development. this has a domino effect for the toy industry. it could be a rough day for stock prices for toy makers. mattel and hasbro started dropping in late trading. so it will be interesting to see what happens when the market opens this morning. reporting live in concord, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. now, a live desk update. >> u.s. secretary of state rex tillerson saying this morning a dramatic change of posture by north korea's leader has led the president, president trump, to agree to a meeting with north korea. and he said it was strongest indication to date of leader kim jong un's desire to talk.

although he does say don't expect formal negotiations any time soon. take a listen. >> in terms of direct talks with the united states and you asked negotiation social securitiment we're a long ways from negotiations. we need to be clear eyed and realistic about it. the first step and i've said this before, to have talks. have some kind of talks about talks. because i don't know yet until we are able to meet ourselves face to face with representatives of north korea, whether the conditions are right to even begin thinking about negotiations. that's kind of the current state of play. tillerson made the comments while on an 8-day trip to africa. his newest comments as well are saying that no surprise that president trump does want to speak to north korea. it's something they've been thinking about for quite some time.

tillerson and president trump did speak early this morning a little bit more about the plan. so we'll continue to follow he story. back to you. >> that certainly is interesting. jessica, thank you. abc 7 news reached out to local and north korea experts to get their reaction on this. philip yun, a senior adviser for north korea policy under the clinton administration says many thought the u.s. was on the way to a conflict. he said this new p talk is infinite any -- >> never get too high or low. given what's happening as little as two months ago, high tensions, some discussion about even a unilateral strike, the bloody nose strategy, it's a stunning development how quickly things have happened. >> so you just heard secretary tillerson sort of update the status of all this. earlier president trump was told -- we're told, accepted the invitation and hoped to meet with kim jong un by may. it sounds like they're backing off of that date a little bit.

family and friends are mourning the death of an 18-year-old girl killed in a deadly hit and run in vallejo. police are still searching for the suspect. reporter, lisa amin gulezian has the story. >> she's been my heart. she's been my child. >> her grandfather raised her from the time she was a baby much he's heartbroken and has questions for this man. vincent fitzer. >> why? what made you do this to my granddaughter? >> police believe fitzer was the one behind the wheel of this suv when it rolled backwards down this street hitting her as she walked on the sidewalk. this is surveillance video taken moments after the crash. the driver is seen running away. >> i'm angry. i want him punished. he shouldn't have left my sister in the street for dead like that. >> fitzer has an extensive criminal past. 31 charges, in fact, including car theft and burglary. the 18-year-old was on the phone

with someone when she was hit. >> we friends. >> investigators call fitzer a transient who has family in vallejo. they're not the only ones hoping he'll come forward. >> we thank you that you're going to touch his heart, dear lord and bring him forth. >> she was the youngest of eight and planned to join the navy after graduating from high school. in vallejo, lisa amin gulezian, abc 7 news. the b.a.r.t. director is going to discuss the shooting death of a man at a meeting. as we reported at midday, dozens of people stormed a meeting demanding answers yesterday. 28-year-old shaleem tindall was shot and killed by a b.a.r.t. police officer on january 3rd. they claim their son was wrongly killed and want him fired. he was responding to shots fired

san mateo bridge, wide open at 13 minutes. four people suspected of stealing thousands of dollars from a trans national card scamming operation. officers made the arrests over the past few months. the suspects used cloned debit cards, gift cards to steal money from around the east bay. they found several skimming devices used to steal credit card numbers at gas pumps. state senator may no longer give his trademark hugs. an investigation found four instances of unwanted hugging or touching that made staff members and lawmakers feel uncomfortable. senators didn't think it was enough to warrant harsher consequences. he's warned that another incident could lead to expulsion or suspension. he says he never meant any harm. 5:20 now. next the 7 things to know as you
