here's meteorologist lisa argen. she's tracking live doppler 7 for us. hi lisa. >> hey chris. plenty of clouds around. but it look like precip but it's not reaching the ground. we have fog to specify. this rain is moving into southern california throughout the day today. we are looking at a half mile visibility. santa rosa petaluma. a mile on the coast. elsewhere, no problems. and as we look from our roof cam ration you will notice that the view of san francisco looks pretty good. low 50s in the city. across the bay, 54 in san jose. 50 on the coast. and emeryville. you can see the fog there. be careful from santa rosa. upper 40s there. 49 in livermore. and 50 by the delta. so sutro showing the city with plenty of clouds today. mild, in the 60s. no rain. we'll look at the sub setting earlier tonight at 6:12. then we lose that hour of sleep. boy we will see big weather changes for the upcoming work week. i'll detail the extended outlook for you coming up. chris? >> lisa, thank you.

developing news from yountville where the veterans home of california grieving this morning after authorities say a troubled veteran took three women hostage. all four of them were found dead. the women have been identified as christne loeber, the executive director of the pathway home. psychologist jennifer gonzalez and therapist jen i have golick. the napa county sheriff's office identifies the gunman as 36-year-old albert wong from sacramento. 's former army infantry man. the department of defense says wong was a decorated soldier, active duty three years and spent a year in afghanistan earning medals for marksmanship. now employees and police are searching for a motive. abc7 news reporter carlos asido is in yountville for us with the latest. carlos, good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning, chris. crime seen investigators worked throughout much of the night here gathering as much evidence as possible. they have set up a large perimeter around the building where this hostage situation took place.

that building right behind me known as the pathway house. we have video from overnight where a tow truck removed a car from the parking lot outside from the shooting took place. officials say the gunman drove onto the campus but they have not confirmed if this was his vehicle. investigators found a cell phone inside of the car. the suspect again has been identified as 36-year-old andrew wong of sacramento who we're told was a former patient. the victims, three women who worked at the veteran's home. witnesses say there was going to be a going away party for a couple of the staff who were leaving. >> smob knocked on the door and said there's a shooter on campus and we are on lockdown and that was that. >> there was a going away party for a couple of the staff who were leaving today. today was their last day. they were having cake and toasting and all of that. and apparently he just walked in with this rifle. four women were able to leave.

three are still there. >> reporter: the coroner's office identified the victims last night. again, the executive director of the pathway home, christine loeber. dr. jen golick, a therapist. and dr. jennifer gonzalez a psychologist with the san francisco department of veterans affairs health care system. again, at this hour detectives remain here on scene working to determine a motive, to determine what led a veteran to take the lives of three women. reporting live in yountville, carlos al saido, abc7 news. >> carlos, thank you. here's a closer look at where this all happened. at the 9,000 acre veterans home campus. it's building 240, labelled as the pathway home. you can see it highlighted in the middle of this map. the pathway home is a residential program that helps veterans with deployment related stress transition back to civilian life. the facility houses about 1,000 veterans as well as hundreds of

people who work there. abc.news reporter cornell barnard explains how the events unfolded yesterday. >> i come before the public with some tragic news. >> reporter: it was the news chp officials hoped not to give. after a military vet an armed with a rifle stormed an office at the veteran's home of california and shot three female hostages, then turned the gun on himself. >> shortly before 6:00 p.m. this morning, law enforcement personnel made entry into the room where we felt the hostages were being held by the suspect and unfortunately made the discovery of three deceased females and one deceased male suspect. >> reporter: the chp says it happened inside building g, the offices for the pathway home, a non-profit treating iraq war veterans from ptsd. three female employees were taken hostage. north bay senator bill dodd confirms the suspect had recently been treated by pathway home sky 7 was overhead for hours, the sprawling campus of

the veterans home was on lockdown as police and s.w.a.t. teams surrounded the building. initially a napa county sheriff's deputy exchanged gunfire with the suspect. the officer was not hurt. it's unknown if the suspect was hit. >> we credit him with saving the lives of others in the area by eliminating the ability of the suspect to go out and find further victims. >> reporter: the suspect's rental car was found parked at the veterans home. it was searched by bomb sniffing dogs, which founding no. for now, the chp can't say why this suspect targeted his three victims. in yountville, abc7 news. president trump is responding this morning to the tragedy in yountville. in the last few minutes, he tweeted, we are deeply saddened by the tragic situation in yountville and mourn the loss of three incredible women who cared for our veterans. this morning, governor brown says his heart goes out to the victims and their families, adding, ann and i are deeply saddened by the horrible violent at the yountville veterans home which tragically took the lives of three people dedicated to

serving our veterans. flag also fly at half staff at the capitol. as we mentioned before, the pathway home serves about 1,000 veteran and helps them recover from the ravages of work. abc7 news tells us more about history of the facility. >> reporter: nestled in picturesque napa valley it is the oldest facility for vets in the statement it is the largest veterans home in the country. founded in 1884, it is home for 900 men and women and their families. they live in buildings named after former u.s. presidents. some veterans here are elderly. some are from more recent flicks. it has its own post office, bank, gym, multifaith chappell, swimming pool, and library. there is a memory care center for residents with dementia, and also the pathway home program, it's for post 9/11 veterans who suffer from ptsds. last week, the napa valley register reported a group of vets came forward with

highway robbery. it happened yesterday afternoon on the southbound interstate 280 connector ramp to southbound highway 101 in the city. a car boxed in this silver hyundai sedan and the attackers confronted the occupants. they smashed the victims windows with a gun and robbed them. >> we don't think it was just a drive birobbery. it was definitely a targeted matter. they -- whoever it was that robbed that vehicle knew what the parties were carrying and targeted them. >> the suspects sped off after taking the victims' belongings. the chp says no shots were fired. san jose police are looking for more possible victims of a suspected armed robber. he's now under arrest and could be responsible for a bay area crime spree. abc7 news reporter katie marzullo has more. >> reporter: san jose police released this surveillance video showing one of the robberies in progress. you see the suspect pull a gun out of his pocket andeck grab cash out of register at the

valero gas station on snell avenue last month. muhammad was not working that night but he described for us what his coworker told him. >> he gave me $20 bill. i opened the register. i want to give the $10 back. and when i opened the register he showed me gun. >> reporter: dkts say daniel mendoza is the gunman in the video. they arrested him and say he is responsible for at least five robberies a jack in the box in milpitas and two gas stations and two 7-elevens in san jose. i know everybody in san jose maybe safety. >> reporter: investigators believe mendoza committed other robberies throughout the bay area n. most cases he points a gun at the clerk and takes cash or lottery scratchers. his getaway car, a 2017 black jeep renegade with black and yellow paper plates. if the you have information, call san jose police n. san jose, katie marzullo, abc7 news. the national rifle association has filed a lawsuit to block new gun control legislation in florida.

the nra says the measure violates the second amendment by raising the age to buy guns from 18 to 21. the lawsuit comes just hours after florida's republican governor rick scott signed the landmark school safety and gun control bill. the measure was prompted by parkland school massacre that killed 17 people on valentine's d day. it looks like president trump will get his military parade after all. he said he wanted one in washington after he attended france's bastille day celebration last year. according to a point memo there will be no tanks, just wheeled vehicles to minimize damage to the streets of washington, d.c. the parade is planned for veteran's day, november 11th. time is 6:10. and a remind hear the daylight saving time begins tomorrow morning at 2:00. one state law maker from san jose wants california to eventually be exempt from the time change. assembly member chu has a bill headed for a state senate hearing. the bill could make daylight

association has sent the coffee shop a letter asking to talk but so far there has been no response. it's not rain but a broken water pipe that flootded a road yesterday in san lorenzo. look at this. a 30 inch transmission main ruptured affecting a stretch of a busy boulevard. no word on what caused the break. the dmv near oakland coliseum remains closed as crews continue to repair water damage. copper pipe wassic taen object february 7th. it caused roof damage and the dmv has been closed since. crews are repairing the damage. the dmv is honoring all its appointments at other locations. a bone marrow donor here in california saved the life of a teenager across the country. now the teenager is able to say thank you in person. reporter darsha phillips from our sister station in los angeles has the story.

chappell on campus. the facility helps service members from world war ii to the wars in iraq and afghanistan. if you would like to honor the victims, go to our abc7 news facebook phage and share this badge. now to developing news out of southern california where one officer was killed and another is in stable condition this morning after being shot during a barricade situation in pomona. police say a suspect barricaded inside of an apartment complex shot the two officers just after candidate last night. the l.a. times reports about 75 officers responded to the scene but couldn't get the two injured to safety because of the gunman. eventually they were both taken to the hospital. s.w.a.t. officers are still at the scene. it has been an unprecedented week in politics. you have likely heard the highly charged attacks from president trump toward california democrats. but how much of an impact will those comments make in this year's midterm elections? >> >> they say 85% of them were criminals and had criminal
